I had the vegetarian curry from Pho Lena East. I can’t speak to the ambiance or wait staff because I had it delivered, but the curry was superb! The squash they put in it was soft and rich and really pulled the curry together. My partner had the Lao Pappardelle (noodles) and said it was very good.

Decent food, good price, bad service - Edit
They are notoriously understaffed so don't be surprised if your server looks like they hate their job and you. We were not the only ones lining up when they opened 5 min late and they got slammed with takeout and dine in. Our server told us the vegan menu was on the back. Actually there isn't one, but there is a vegetarian curry menu (which is not all vegetarian). Our server incorrectly told us which curries are vegan until I asked them to check. 10 min later they said the red and yellow and massman are vegan. If you are getting a lunch special find out if the soup is vegan. They didn't seem able to make the stir fries vegan, maybe they don't make accommodations when they are busy.

Knowledgeable about what was vegan - Edit
We ordered takeout and the person on the phone was super knowledgeable about what was vegan and what wasn’t. Note that the yellow curries are vegan but the green and red both contain fish sauce despite being on the vegetarian part of the menu. There is oyster sauce and fish sauce in many of the dishes but he helped guide me with what was best to order and offered to give fresh tofu instead of fried since the fried tofu uses the same oil as the meat.

Quick, filling food - Edit
Huge menu. Food Filled the tank (both tanks if you know what I mean)…had pad sei ew noodles and was meh. Tofu was fried and a little oily for me.

Good Asian food - Edit
The yellow curry was very good. They have other veg options and the portion size is large, but skimpy on the veggies. I even asked for extra broccoli and said I'd pay for the extra serving, but even then, there were only a few small pieces of broccoli. Still a good option for limited choices in Anchorage.

Lots of options! Reasonably priced, solid service, and timing of food was great as well! We’ve been two times this week because there is so much to explore and try on the menu.
Read moreNumber 104 is SUPER good! It’s the massaman curry with wide flat rice noodles. I would eat it again and again and again if I could! We also got the hot tea with coconut cream or milk and it was like thai tea— it was super yum! The vegetarian pho, which is vegan was alright. I don’t like cilantro and forgot to ask them to omit it— it was put on top as a garnish. Also, I love udon noodles but wasn’t a fan of their homemade rendition of them. They weren’t bad but they weren’t what I love about udon noodles. All in all, just get that massaman curry dish— it’s da bomb!

Such friendly and accommodating service, and a vegetarian menu! The food was three stars- I had the vegetarian fresh rolls and the vegetarian curry (green). The service and ease of ordering veg was five stars, so I figure overall that makes four for the experience. I’m not sure we would return for the food.
