Flavoursome brunch - Edit
Amazing! Had the vegan tempeh sandwich with extra mushrooms and coffee. Bread was brill! And the tempeh with the flavours just tied it nicely 👌

Just arrived with the boat from Rotterdam to Hull. Wonderful breakfast with Tempeh. No need to get lunch after that, 😆.

Lovely breakfast - Edit
We went for breakfast as had been recommended to us. We both had the vegan breakfast, which was really good, the homemade beans were the best thing on the plate. However we did think it was a bit pricey at £18.50 each

Great breakfast - Edit
We specifically booked for the breakfast which I’ve had many times over the years. It’s such a great breakfast where every element of a regular breakfast is slightly elevated. It is a little oily as another review says, but as it’s expensive, this isn’t an everyday meal out. Coffee is gorgeous, apple juice is the best I’ve had and they stock bluebird/haxby bread. Cakes are also delicious! Friendly staff made it another great visit- will be back!

Great for vegetarians, average for vegans - Edit
This cafe was recommended to me but only had three options for vegans: an all day breakfast, a tempeh sandwich, or a cauliflower shakshuka. I had the all day breakfast (scrambled tofu, tempeh, avocado etc) and it was nice if slightly greasy. The bread was lovely and fresh, the staff were all very friendly and it’s a nice atmosphere but the lack of decent choice on the menu means I’d struggle to recommend it to anyone else and I probably wouldn’t go back.

Tasty but expensive - Edit
Had the tempeh sandwich which was a bit like a BLT - was very tasty, especially the peppers and the bread. However, it was very expensive for what it was. £10 for sandwich, £18.5 for breakfast, cauliflower shawarma for £18, 50p extra for oat milk... 😕 they had two vegan cakes available.

Full vegan breakfast is good and hearty, variety within it. However could have more vegan options on the menu as you are limited to full vegan breakfast or tempeh sandwich for breakfast

Slay vegan options - Edit
I was so surprised at how many vegan options Partisan had!
Read moreI got the tempeh sandwich which was done so well. The tempeh was drenched in flavour and went perfectly with all of its accompaniments such as avocado and vegan mayo. The bread it was served on was crusty ciabatta - it was such a good combo!
My partner got the vegan breakfast and wow! It had harissa tofu, tempeh bacon, homemade beans, crispy potatoes, avocado and roasted tomatoes. Each element was done amazingly - so delicious!
Pros: Amazing vegan food , Lots of options

A solid vegan breakfast option - Edit
I came here on a Monday morning because the 2 vegetarian restaurants in the city were closed, but I was not disappointed. There's only a couple vegan options on the menu, and they only offer oatmeal as an alternative for beverages, but the couple options are very well thought out and prepared.
Read moreThe vegan breakfast skillet is a generous portion of scrambled tofu, tempeh, beans, guacamole, toast, tomatoes, and mushroom.

10/10 Vegan skillet - Edit
Definitely book ahead if you can as there were people waiting for it to open on a Saturday morning.
Read moreSensational vegan skillet, it was pricey however each element was crafted with such skill, care and excellent flavours it was well worth the price
They also had a vegan cake option at the time we went, possibly they have more at other times as it looks like a varying selection

Best Vegan Breakfast to Date! - Edit
This little coffee shop looks great from the outside and when you go inside it just gets better! When you enter you will be faced with a counter full of delicious looking bakes to get your mouth watering! The staff are really welcoming and friendly and the interior has interesting bits to catch your attention all over the place! The music was chilled and gave a nice vibe.
Read moreI was seated downstairs and had the vegan breakfast. It was the best vegan breakfast I think ove ever had! It was so tasty and left me really satisfied and fueled to explore York for the day.
I really enjoyed it all but the highlights of the dish were the slices of tempeh hiding under the potatoes, the slices of fesh sourdough and the smokey home made baked beans.
There could have been more vegan options, but I was really happy with what was on offer on the menu and would highly recommend this place!
There was a delicious sounding dahl for a lunch option and a few vegan cakes to choose from, as well as some freshly baked sourdough.

Delicious ciabatta sandwich with marinated tempeh. It was huge-qlmost like a BLT. My only criticism is that the bread to tempeh ratio was a bit off.

Second time just as good - Edit
Can’t recommend enough! Visited during Winter 2021, and again yesterday when visiting York again. Partisan was the one place (attraction or restaurant) we knew we must visit on our return to York! There are an array of flavours and rustic colours across the vegan breakfast and it’s very well cooked. The tofu scramble was a little more runny this time and the flat mushrooms a little less succulent at the stalk but still my favourite breakfast selection anywhere ever. I believe the flat mushrooms were a little more spiced/herby last time and would love that to return. Long black lovely also!

One of my go-tos for brunch in York - Edit
Fellow vegans, please try the vegan breakfast at Partisan. I visited last year with a friend and had the vegan breakfast, and it left so much of an impression on me that when taking a visiting friend out for brunch, we had to stop here and I had to have it again.
Read moreI'm not a massive lover of tempeh but even that is delicious, and the tofu scramble is insane. If you're in York looking for the vegan equivalent of a breakfast plate this is definitely one of the best places to get it.
We were waiting for our food for quite awhile however we were gifted a free coffee and vegan cake (super soft and moist) so we definitely weren't complaining.
In terms of vibe of the place, we were put into the new restaurant, which was maybe lacking in atmosphere a little compared to the small and quirky interior of the original.
Definitely will be going back again sometime soon!
