Afternoon tea

The food itself was lovely. Well thought out options, different to the usual afternoon tea options you get, with interesting flavours. The service was a bit bizarre, we didn’t get acknowledged for the first 15 mins we sat down (we did arrive a little early from our booking but I’d still expect to be offered a drink at somewhere like this). Then they gave me a chocolate which said happy birthday, when I asked if it was vegan she said “oh no we’ve checked and it’s got dairy in”, then smiled at me?! Little things like didn’t bring extra oat milk when you asked for another tea. So the food was planned and executed very well but clearly the vegan side of things didn’t really click with the staff. Would’ve given it 3.5* if I could’ve.

Vegan afternoon tea

We had a delicious afternoon tea at the grand which catered to us as vegans and also a gluten free guest! Very creative and tasty.

A taste of luxury

My wife was gifted afternoon tea for 4. This is a very high end luxury hotel and the staff were absolutely superb. For afternoon tea they had a great range of wonderful teas and you could have as much as you wanted. There is a set menu for afternoon tea (it does change - when we went it was the Valentine’s menu) and there is a dedicated vegan menu. When it arrived the initial impression was wow! The presentation was immaculate. Quantity-wise it didn’t look a lot but it was actually quite filling. At the end I had noticeably slowed down. The food itself was absolutely exquisite. It was about £40 per head but was a taste of how the other half live. We had a wonderful afternoon and the food was out of this world

Pros: Dedicated vegan menu, Fantastic staff, Amazing surroundings

Cons: No vegan hot chocolate
