Great Takoyaki! - Edit
We are vegan and allergic to gluten. Until now, there were no vegan takoyaki around Namba and Shinsaibashi stations. We had given up on trying the local cuisine, but we have found the one and only takoyaki.
Read moreIt was wonderful. We ordered the takoyaki plate and the 1500 yen kushikatsu, both of which are vegan and gluten-free. The takoyaki is made with soybeans instead of wheat flour, so it is very healthy and hearty. Drinks are only 200 yen and you can make your own. My friend was pleased with the wide variety of scotch and bourbon. Gluten free beer is also available for 200 yen. Highly recommended.
Pros: affordable, All Vegan Menu Also suitable for gluten-free, Cool Place

SO EFFING GOOD! - Edit
When someone is doing everything alone and making the food taste THIS GOOD, it is just the best! Had a blast and the woman who made the food was the LOVELIEST! Highly recommend - and if you could send me some food that would be great!

Cannot judge the taste of takoyaki - Edit
Never had traditional takoyaki so I don’t know how they’re supposed to taste like. The ones I tried here were a bit blunt, but super soft and generally nice. Just did

Not worth the wait - Edit
Takoyaki is by definition not vegan so it’s hard for me to know what a Osakan street food takoyaki should taste like.
Read moreWhat I know is that when we make it at home, it tastes much better.
We had to queue for 30 minutes just to order and then wait another 15 minutes to receive what is some basic street food which is awfully long. I appreciate there’s just one woman working there but I was expecting the food to taste much nicer (even if street food is not very high quality). I don’t know if the fact that it’s also gluten free contributed to the not great taste.
It also contained some hard kinda burnt out bits which I don’t think we’re supposed to be in there.

Great Takoyaki in Osaka! - Edit
Great vegan option right in the heart of Dontonbori! Accidentally stumbled upon this place and couldn’t be more impressed! We did wait a while but there was only one person working and was 100% worth the wait.

Great Takoyaki - Edit
Happy to return to this place that provided us with nice Okonomiyaki a while back (store moved a couple of blocks south). Now selling Takoyaki, and it was the same viby pleasure as last time. Food was still great

Fun spot and decent food - Edit
The restaurant itself is quite the site to see! We ordered the takoyaki and kushisatsu set meal. The miso and cabbage were really good and the mushroom kushikatsu was really good (it was a mix of different veggies). Takoyaki was fine - very soft and not super flavourful.

Vibes and great tasting takoyaki - Edit
The place has such personality and is run solo by Shio-san who is so friendly and clearly busy AF. It does take a little while if busy but Shio-san can advise😊
Read moreNice variety of toppings/extras (pickles!) and drinks is like an honour system.
The inside decor itself is an experience, along with the music and the educational posters pinned up about the stores history and facts about the takoyaki being eaten.
I visited twice, sitting in and take-out.
Pros: Takoyaki , Sides/extras, Plentiful seating
Cons: Can take a while (but good music)

Memorable restaurant as a living personality - Edit
The whole place vibes the same as the owner, feels like the building serves me. Never seen anything like it. A single person, a single 5+ storey building, a singular unique experience.
Read moreBeen there twice, would have liked more. Excellent beer, excellent food, very cosy.
Will be a part of my memory for life.
Pros: card payments, rich drink buffet, the environment

Must-see if you're vegan!! - Edit
First: great, substantial vegan food at a cheap price!
Read moreSecond: location! Right in the heart of Osaka (we stayed in Aka under Namba station).
Third: such a cool place to eat! It feels like you're in Berlin: wall to wall graffiti telling thousands of different stories, it's impossible not to find the venue highly entertaining as a spectacle in itself.
Fourth: it's run by the girl who opened it (I think). She runs the entire building herself!! Huge credit to running such a success story. You deserve everything!!
Pros: Food, Location, Atmosphere
Cons: No!!

Not really takoyaki - Edit
The takoyaki was good in its own right, but I would not say it’s a vegan version of takoyaki. It’s not really takoyaki, it just looks like takoyaki.
Read moreIt doesn’t have similar texture and the taste is very different too.
Also it doesn’t come with the brown sauce so characteristic of takoyaki.
If they could make a vegan version of the brown sauce, then it would at least taste a wee bit like traditional takoyaki.

Good Takoyaki, but seemed slightly undercooked. The staff is friendly and suggested the teriyaki sauce for our first time.

Decent if you can avoid rush hour. - Edit
This is a small establishment located too close to Dotonbori for it's own good I feel.
Read moreThe food was decent, but it seemed consistently quite busy if you are there any time at night. The long wait time(30+ minutes) does come with a free drink if that happens, but I don't think the food is worth the wait honestly.
Drinks are cheap and generous; but seating moved too fast to really capitalize on that aspect.
All in all, I'd only recommend this spot if you are closeby and see it has no line.
NOTE: This review is based on April 2024; likely the busiest tourist season of the busiest year on record for Japan. It's possible that this issue doesn't exist in the off season! Still, it was much busier than most other restaurants during the same time period.
