Amazing vegan food - Edit
First time eating here despite being a vegan in the local area. The dishes are quite expensive and was worried about the quantity. However we ordered about 6 dishes between three of us and it was more than enough, we were stuffed! Each dish was absolutely delicious especially loved the cauliflower korma and the pander dip. Love how everything is vegan so can just chose what you want.

Worth travelling for 👏 - Edit
A hidden gem on the high Street and well worth the travel over from Bolton really nice cosy atmosphere extremely helpful and friendly staff the food was insane tasty and not overpriced and the fact that it's fully vegan and I took a non-vegan with me who absolutely loved it and couldn't even tell with certain dishes as they were so creamy it's a good job that this is not around the corner as I suspect my waistline would be getting somewhat bigger.

Food was INCREDIBLE, and all vegan which made for a very relaxing ordering process.
Read moreEverything has so much flavour and reasonably priced.
As all vegan we ordered everything on the menu and shared so tried every dish and loved them all!
Just a heads up that it does turn into a bar/ club vibe in the late evening so if that isn’t your style, I would suggest booking an earlier table or request a quieter seating area. We dined at 8pm so by 10pm people were up dancing. This didn’t bother us but did make it hard to hear each other.

Not as good as I’d hoped - Edit
Didn’t live up to the other good reviews on Happy Cow. Went with a bunch of mates on a Saturday evening. Menu was mostly small-plate type options. Excellent that it’s all vegan, and a lot of options, but the things I ordered were very hit and Miss - some were great but others nothing special at all (one potato dish I ordered had no flavor, the aubergine schnitzel pretty bland). Prices also seemed expensive for the small portions. Service wasn’t great but they were busy.

hello there thanks for your review. We are pleased to be able to offer a full vegan menu. We are sorry to hear you were disappointed. You should have mentioned this and we would have tried our best to resolve it. The dishes you mention are 2 of our most popular and thus far we have only heard rave reviews about them. As far as pricing goes, we feel our prices are fairly inexpensive given that everything is made in house using the best ingredients and local produce we can source. Also our prices are in accordance with business running costs, staffing, rent and other restaurant prices in the area. Thanks Annie

Some of the best vegan food I’ve had in years. - Edit
We LOVED Nelson’s Wine Bar. Really nice wine selection & delicious vegan food. The plates here were really elevated and delicious, you can tell so much thought has gone into the menu. The staff were so lovely too, and it seems the menu frequently changes so there’s lots of choice. The potato, pea and paneer filo pie was a stand out dish - truly flavoursome, moreish and tasted like a big warm hug. 10/10!

Tasty food, variable portions - Edit
Lovely range of vegan dishes to choose from, but portions are not uniform which made ordering thevright amount of food a bit of a challenge. My partner had an enormous portion of mushroom pilau rice - delicious, but easily enough for two . I had the equally delicious potato and pea filo pie, but thought the portion rather on the small side. A side of chips levelled things out. Nice vibe and so much nicer than the last time we were here several years ago (not 100% vegan then)

Wonderful inventive small plates of vegan Indian food. I had the beetroot curry, paratha and tamarind and shallot coated potatoes. Excellent drink selection and I finished with a liquorice flavoured vodka. The ambience is cosy and relaxed. A lovely space and friendly staff. Highly recommendable!

Wonderful flavours and tantalised taste buds.
Read moreA first time visit with my wife (a non-vegan) and we both left feeling we had enjoyed a real culinary tour de force.
Simple dishes, subtle flavours and wholesome food.
Tucked downstairs on Cross Street, this is a real gem. The staff were fantastic as we turned up 24 hours early (my fault) and quickly found us a table.
From the Paddha, to Tofu skewers and finally to brulee it will genuinely have you salivating and booking your next visit.
We will be back for sure.

Fabulous flavours - Edit
4 small plates between 2 of us, plus dessert, was perfect and delicious. The dishes were compact and bursting with flavour. We had cauliflower korma (the first korma in 31 years vegan and wow was I happy), Bombay roll (like a savoury curry version of a cinnamon bun), potato and chilli paratha, and the tofu burger. All stunning.

Fabulous - Edit
What a gem. Situated in a basement, Nelson's Wine Bar feels 'cool' in every sense of the word. Lovely staff and great to be able to choose from an all vegan menu, with interesting, original dishes. The desserts were bliss, with nothing left of our Vegan Mess and Black Forest Choc Pot. I asked the staff where the name of the bar came from? They said it was lost in the mists of time, dating from when the bar opened 20+ years ago. I offered my theory that it might be paying homage to Nelson's Wine Bar that featured in the Archers many moons ago, run by the louche Nelson Gabriel and Kenton Archer.

Amazing vegan find! - Edit
Fabulous little place with a great atmosphere and tasty food. We ordered the potato rosti, tofu burger, cashew Camembert, KFC (Kentucky fried cauliflower) and the chilli-choc pot for dessert. All of the food was amazing, albeit not much a fan of chilli in chocolate! Would definitely go again - the menu is limited, but shows that they put great effort into the food they serve.

We tried Nelsons last night and were not disappointed. We had a whole bunch of things from the menu and would recommend the gnocchi, the cashew camembert and the tofu burger; although everything we had was delicious. The atmosphere down there is cool and the staff were friendly. Lovely place for a special vegan meal.

Delicious food and friendly service - Edit
We had a great meal, and it was good to have a lot of choice in vegan dishes across small plates (or starters), mains, and desserts. The flavours were intense but finely balanced, and a lot of thought had gone into the combinations of ingredients in each dish, down to the salad dressings.
Read moreThe tofu burger and the schnitzel were highlights for us. Desserts were slightly less successful, but tasty nonetheless.
The service is relaxed and friendly but also very efficient - orders were taken and courses brought with just the right amount of 'pause' between each. The wine lists are not extensive but there's still a good choice, and, again, it's great to have vegan options.
We'll absolutely be returning and recommending.
Pros: Excellent food and options for small plates, Good atmosphere and set-up, tables well spaced, Good choice of wines
Cons: Not cheap - but still value for money
