The bar is run by women and definitely a place where women feel comfortable. If you arrive at 7pm, the day's food offering will be just being chalked onto the board. Portions are hearty. Reopened and turned fully vegan, Jun 2021. Open Tue-Thu 17:00-23:00, Fri 17:00-00:30, Sat 16:00-00:30, Sun 17:00-23:00. Occasionally opens Sun. Check Socials.

Regular visitor to Hebden but have never eaten here. Having looked online, I didnt find the menu particularly exciting, but I was SO WRONG. The food is amazing, probably the best food i have ever eaten anywhere in my life. It felt like tiny explosions of excitement in my mouth. Felt the need to have 2 starters, a main and a dessert. Plus the staff/hosts are exceptional and its bloody cool in there to boot. YOU MUST GO.

The food is definitely on the pricey side, but it was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. My favourite dish was probably the broccoli salad—the candied cashews were incredible!
As it's a wine bar, there’s a great selection of wines to choose from. We tried a glass of the Pinot Grigio and the house Sauvignon Blanc. Both were lovely, but the Sauvignon Blanc was the nicer of the two.

Read moreBe careful on Friday and Saturday evenings though. There are DJs apparently. So if you don't want loud music when you're eating go on another evening. If you do then batter in. Suggest you book ahead though.

We went in a group and ordered a lot of different things, so got a good idea of the menu at Nelson's. The presentation and flavour of all the dishes was absolutely amazing, so we really have to be super positive about that. The glazed tofu on noodle salad and the crème brûlée were the winners of the evening and the cheesecake that was on the menu is definitely also recommended.
Read moreI'd recommend the arancini too, which were very soft and tasty, but there were only 3 small arancini on the plate for £7, which in all honesty felt a little meagre. The same goes for the mushroom kiev with greens which at £14 felt a bit on the small side (2 portobello mushrooms on a handful of greens).
2024 / 2025 update:
We still come back regularly, but the menu now seems to focus more on Indian flavours and isn’t changed that often.
In part this has been resulted in us visiting less frequently as we’ve had everything that is on the menu a long time ago.

First time eating here despite being a vegan in the local area. The dishes are quite expensive and was worried about the quantity. However we ordered about 6 dishes between three of us and it was more than enough, we were stuffed! Each dish was absolutely delicious especially loved the cauliflower korma and the pander dip. Love how everything is vegan so can just chose what you want.

A hidden gem on the high Street and well worth the travel over from Bolton really nice cosy atmosphere extremely helpful and friendly staff the food was insane tasty and not overpriced and the fact that it's fully vegan and I took a non-vegan with me who absolutely loved it and couldn't even tell with certain dishes as they were so creamy it's a good job that this is not around the corner as I suspect my waistline would be getting somewhat bigger.

As all vegan we ordered everything on the menu and shared so tried every dish and loved them all!
Just a heads up that it does turn into a bar/ club vibe in the late evening so if that isn’t your style, I would suggest booking an earlier table or request a quieter seating area. We dined at 8pm so by 10pm people were up dancing. This didn’t bother us but did make it hard to hear each other.

Didn’t live up to the other good reviews on Happy Cow. Went with a bunch of mates on a Saturday evening. Menu was mostly small-plate type options. Excellent that it’s all vegan, and a lot of options, but the things I ordered were very hit and Miss - some were great but others nothing special at all (one potato dish I ordered had no flavor, the aubergine schnitzel pretty bland). Prices also seemed expensive for the small portions. Service wasn’t great but they were busy.

As far as pricing goes, we feel our prices are fairly inexpensive given that everything is made in house using the best ingredients and local produce we can source. I haven't been to a fully vegan wine bar before, this is a lovely spot for an evening meal and drink in Hebden Bridge. There is a relaxed atmosphere, a great selection of food and drinks and friendly staff.
