Good food! - Edit
My husband got the Seitan Kiev and I got the Asian noodles (off the gf menu). I was jealous of his seitan kiev because it looked amazing! And he was impressed! It was stuffed with vegan cheese and breaded and looked really good. The noodles were good, i was just happy that they had a gluten free menu. The staff was super super friendly. Only complaint was no A/C and it was a super hot day, but they do keep it open maybe so more people walk up to buy the vegan ice cream and pastries.

Great for all levels of hungry - Edit
I love that they offer daily specials and items for when you're feeling just slightly peckish to ravenous or just looking for something to satisfy your sweet tooth. It's a good place to try out Hungarian food but they also offer familiar Western type food for those who may be picky eaters. Portion sizes are on the large size so sharing isn't a bad idea if you plan on getting dessert. The setting is stylish and large enough to accommodate big groups. It looks like it also gets pretty busy on Sundays for lunch.

'Very disappointing' - Edit
Bad experience at 'Napfenyes' for vegans like us with gluten and soya allergies. The menu book has all the information to help you make your choices but our order turned up (grilled veg) with a spread of tofu on top even though we had discussed our allergies already. When we pointed out that tofu was soy, the plate was whisked away. The same plate came back a couple of minutes later minus the tofu. When we said that for someone who is extremely allergic to soy, this wouldn't work, they took the plate away and never came back. The bad attitude continued when we went to pay, even tho' we had made it clear what we could and couldn't eat. Does this restaurant understand allergies? No. The whole thing was very upsetting. We are life long vegans with some allergies, sorry about that but that's how it is. You are a restaurant claiming to be able to deal with these issues. Wouldn't recommend this place.

This is definitely one of the better vegan restaurants I've been to, the selection is excellent, they have daily menus that are really good! The pizzas are great and the prices are more than fair! Also had the best vegan stew ever here! If you're in budapest this is a must visit

Tohle místo stojí za návštěvu, výborné jídlo, rychlá obsluha, hrozně milý přístup (nejste si jisti, jaka zmrzlina vám bude chutnat? Dáme vám ji nejdřív ochutnat). Krom jídel z listku mají i denní menu, které dostanete do peti minut, spoustu zákusků i nějaké čokolády. Vážně super

not great - Edit
I never write bad reviews and usually wouldn’t deter people from going to a vegan restaurant but this place did disappoint me and my partner. The food was bland, not that warm and the pizza we had was quite stale. The service also wasn’t good and we found it all to be expensive for what it was worth. Better places to eat in Budapest in my opinion!

AMAZING food and bakery - Edit
We went 3 Friends, cause I've been before in the other restaurant they have in the city. We took 3 dishes, Rice noodles, seitan Ratatouille and vegetables with Rice with tartar sauce and kind of a snitchel. Everything was perfect, very tasty and the vegetables perfectly cooked. In our opinion the best vegan place of Budapest.

Best place we went! - Edit
Dinner here twice and then went back for cakes! Pizzas here are huge and delicious! Went back to try some of the other dishes which tasted so fresh and really filled us up. Just before we left went back to try the cakes which was well worth it! Nice atmosphere here too and generally very nice staff with super quick service!

Had a vegan Hungarian dish (can’t remember the name) and an additional side dish smashed potatoes - in case the portion is to small. Which is not the case. Their bakery is delicious! Great cakes and scones.

My favorite place to eat - Edit
If you are ever in the area, i highly recommend checking out this place. The staff are kind and polite (as i heard their English is okay too), the food always - for me at least - tastes like something new, something i have not tried before and they serve you big, hearty portions, which - in case you can't finish it - they gladly pack up for you. Add the cozy and relaxing atmosphere and you get Napfényes (sunshine-y. Pun intended). The prices might be a bit high if you're on a budget but it's definitely wort it.

Ok pizza, amazing fried cheese, good prices, no alochol! - Edit
Came her on our last night in Budapest after reading the great reviews. We both ordered a pizza (which were huge!) and also the steak fries and a breaded fried cheese slice to share. We can eat a lot haha!
Read moreThe fried cheese thingy was absolutely amazing! The steak fries were also really delicious. The pizzas were ok, tasty but not the best vegan pizzas we have had. The Hungarian one has a lot of dried herbs on it which was quite an over powering flavour.
The staff were nice but not that attentive and the service seemed very relaxed and was a little slow. Pleasant people though with excellent English.
Love the concept behind the restaurant but don't understand why they don't serve alcohol (claims to be due to it being health focused but the food doesn't seem to fit with this!). Really fancied a glass of wine with our meal, but never mind!
Pros: cheap, good portion sizes
Cons: a little slow, no alcohol

SO GOOD - Edit
This was the best meal ever, not sure how much this was impacted by how hungry I was but regardless, definitely try to get here to try some delicious vegan versions of traditional Hungarian food. I had the cabbage roll dish which included a faux sausage, sauerkraut, seitan steak and faux sour cream. So delicious and different from the standard western vegan food you get in restaurants. The staff were lovely. They also have a huge selection of amazing cakes (and a few traditional desserts too)

Menu with a lot of variety - Edit
We visited Napfenyes several times while in Budapest, and never left disappointed. It has a wide variety of options, and out of those we tried, seitan kiev, falafel platter, goluash soup and Hawaii shake stood out the most. We also tried two of their pizzas - one pizza can easily feed two adults! The portions are generous, and it’s possible to buy cakes to go. A must-visit for all vegans going to Budapest!

Cons: Service can take some time
