Hmm

Read so much good reviews, and came there with a lot of hunger. The goulash was meh, the raw crackers were really nice, the mock meat from seitan was greasy and bland.. Took a cake with me, that tasted nice, but had better in Budapest.. Overal it was oke, but for the price it was not woth it for me

Pros: Fast service, Big menu, Traditional dishes

Cons: Bland, Pricey, Not special

Must try restaurant in budapest

We had the stew and soup which were the vegan version of Hungarian food (a seitan stew, Hungarian soup) and foccacia and were really impressed. The portions were enough for 2. They offered lunch, dinner, and dessert options. We also ordered the marinated tofu and marinated seitan. These were nice enough but we felt they needed to be mixed with the stew for more flavour. The tofu tasted like eggs though if that tickles your fancy. Really good value for the food - paid $36 NZD for the lot, including tea and two waters.

Close to fine dining

I wouldn't say this is fine dining, but it is pretty close for a vegan place. The menu was large with lots of good options from appetizers to desserts. The service was good and the prices were reasonable. It had a nice atmosphere which is more like a nice restaurant instead of the typical small casual cafe that most vegan places are.

Visited multiple times

The fact that this place looks and acts like an upscale restaurant is really nice. They have white tablecloths, polished utensils, well trained waiters. Also very central.

It may be smart to reserve a table as it can get quite crowded.

It is on the more expensive side, but nothing too terrible, considering the location and size of the restaurant.

first off, the cakes. I have sampled most of the cakes they make, which was quite a job as they change the cakes from day to day, and offer about 20 different ones every day. They were amazing. Really, if it hadn't been a vegan restaurant, I'd be suspicious. The ones with vanilla custard were my favourites, as it is something not commonly found elsewhere vegan, and was really close to the original. Their takeaway boxes for cakes are cardboard, which is environmentally very nice.

The savoury dishes were okay. The grilled vegetables and tofu very professionally made, but I wasn't blown away by my order. A friend had a pizza, and was really not impressed, leaving more than a half of it, as the mock cheese stuck to his mouth. Observing the other tables, he wasn't the only one.

Edit after numerous visits: I have now given up on eating meals here. I take takeaway salad, the cakes are still wonderful, but I don't eat anything from the menu. I have found the food to be too greasy, dripping with oil multiple times after ordering. This does not suit my diet, but I am sure that many vegans don't care about that.

After further investigations of the menu: I can warmly recommend all of the main dishes that are not pizzas. So stuffed cabbage, the asian pasta and the seitan stews are good choices. Stuffed cabbage was definitely the winner of the menu, I'd eat it anytime. Also soups are good and tasty.

Fabulous

Food was massive and delicious. A real restaurant with comfy seats and table clothes unlike so many Spartan vegan eateries. I have given up animal products, not my comfort.

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing

Great place for pizza lunch and desert!

We went here for lunch since we saw that they served pizza. They had 6-7 pizzas on the menu, and they were able to make ours without tomatoes. The food came out quickly. While waiting for the pizza, we got soup and also salad from the self-service salad bar. They had a huge variety of vegan cakes and other pastries, with a few gluten free cake and pudding options. There were large student groups eating there, so I’d imagine the place is great for non-vegans too!

Pros: Entirely vegan, Menu variety, Vegan deserts

Service was disappointing on this occasion

Have eaten here before and have always enjoyed the food and the service very much. On this particular occasion we had a young and seemingly inexperienced server who was just a bit difficult to deal with and who became rather brusque and a little impolite when it came time to settle the bill. This put a damper on what was otherwise a good meal.

Classy

Table service, good English, good vegan and raw selection, rapid service - the chef brought out the vegetable soup, quite rightly proud of his tasty creation. Also has a extensive vegan cake and bakery out the front. The seitan nuggets and chips slaw was ok, so only 4 stars this time. However will be back tomorrow for the lentil soup.

Yum!

My partner and I had a fabulous lunch here. We had the goulash and the seitan stew. They were both so tasty. I was super jealous of his stew, the flavours were simple but great. The waitress seemed surprised that I was only having soup but the portions were huge for lunch so the two shared between us was perfect. We are looking to go back tomorrow for the platter for two. Would definitely recommend

Pros: Authentic Hungarian foods, Loads of choices

Cons: Slightly slower service

Best vegan place I’ve ever visited

I’ve been traveling around the world and tasted many types of vegan food but I’ve never ever in my life tasted something like that before. My mom and I have ordered the main dish for 2 people. I can say so much about the plate we’ve received but do yourself a fuc**** favor and just order it. You won’t regret!

Decent food, but very slow service

Napfenyes was decent. Various options on the menu, from traditional Hungarian food, to Thai inspired dishes.

Although the food was okay, the service at the restaurant could be better. Our waiter was very slow... especially towards the end of our meal. When he asked us if we wanted desserts and coffee, we said yes and he brought us a menu that listed desserts as being "various" with nothing specific noted. After waiting ten minutes for our waiter to return so we could ask specifics about desserts, I finally went up to the front to look at the "various" desserts in the cake case. I decided on one and returned to my table. Still, no waiter. Finally, my husband caught the attention of a completely different waiter, who took our order and handed us our check afterwards. While we were leaving, we finally saw our waiter serving other guests. I guess he got tired of us...? Not sure.

Overall, meals were okay, a bit salty, but the desserts were perfection! Just needs more organized service.

Vegan home cooking

Nice restaurant that looks a little fancy at first sight but is actually really cozy. They have a wide variety of extraordinary vegan dishes which I've never tried before. We ordered the big platter for two people. It was okay but for me it was a little too hearty. However I had a cake for dessert which was absolutely delicious 🌹

Pros: Extraordinary dishes, amazing cake

Cons: Tastewise it was okay

calm restaurant with delicious food

We went here during a trip to Budapest. It was so nice to be in a proper restaurant that is completely vegan. They have loads of different dishes to choose from. We shared a mixed platter with seitan, "cheese", mashed potatoes, rice etc. It was really nice and as we weren't able to finish it all, the waiter kindly out the rest into a box to take home.
All in all a very good experience, nice staff and nice food. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: big, varied menu to choose from
