Overall cosy place with a lot of exciting pancake options: salty or savoury. The pink hummus stack is amazing! Who’d ever think hummus would go with pancakes? I also love the cold jasmin tea! I’ve had the English breakfast stack and a stack with choco/cotton candy. Everything was good depending on what you’re craving at the moment.
Read moreIt’s a bit too hectic in the weekends (understandably) and you notice the staff coming by asking you how you’re doing/ if you want anything else one too many times, especially when there is a build up of a crowd outside. I wouldn’t react to this if I finished my meal but the question always comes while I’m eating which doesn’t feel great. Maybe it’s just a honest mistake and no intention of rushing the guests.
Pros: Interesting take on American pancakes, DOG FRIENDLY
Cons: A little bit too busy., Don’t sit close to the door, there’s a gust.

Amsterdam has a lot of vegan restaurants, but the variety in the menus in limited. And that is what makes Mr Stacks interesting! It's a vegan pancake restaurant, or "stacks" as the owner calls it.
Read moreVisitors are greeted in English and the menu is only available in English, which is somewhat annoying for Dutch guests. Why speak a foreign language in your own country? Even with a shortage of workers a Dutch menu is the least thing Mr Stacks can do.
Roughly the menu consists of a selection of sweet and savory pancakes. We selected the "protein burger" pancake which was absolutely great. It meets all requirements of a good meal: it tastes great, is beautifully presented and contains fiber, vitamins and of course protein. What sets it apart from a home made meal is the variety in ingredients and tastes. For example it comes with a punchy spicy orange dressing on one side and a mild green one on the other side. The sweet potatoes on the side are also a nice addition.
Just to have some variety we also ordered the "English breakfast", which is exactly what the name implies. It comes with vegan egg, vegan sausages, beans and tomatoes. According to a meat eater the sausages are indistinguishable from animal products, while the egg only slightly differs from a chicken egg.
At least as interesting as a the food is the drinks menu. Do try the matcha latte, which comes with almond, oat or soy milk.
Mr Stacks isn't cheap, but considering the richness of the food, the big size of the portions and the fact that all vegetables are big grade (no poison used by farmers) it is certainly worth the price.
Pros: tasty!, original, nice seating, indoors and outdoors
Cons: no Dutch menu available, no Dutch spoken by staff

The pancakes are thick but not too dense or dry, just moist enough. The fruits portion are quite generous and the place itself has a nice vibe.
If I visit Amsterdam again in the future, I will come back for sure.
