Oh. My. God! - Edit
I don't even know where to start! I've never had Sri Lankan food, but I'm always up for a new culinary adventure. The reviews sounded great, and the pictures looked good, and all of it made for an amazing foodie experience! The ambiance is very warm and welcoming with an indoor dining room and even better, a spacious outdoor patio with lights everywhere and heat lamps for chilly weather, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is outstanding! The combination of flavors, heat levels, spices, and all the love that was obviously poured into it combined to make it a fantastic meal. They have lots of gluten-free options as well. Even the meat eaters would be happy. I highly recommend a visit!

So Good! - Edit
First of all I love the fact this is a worker-owned cooperative. The staff person who helped us was very pleasant and engaging. Nice atmosphere and decor in the indoor seating area. There’s also nice outdoor patio and street seating.
Read moreIt’s 100% vegan so if you’re vegan there’s no worries about cross contamination. A very nice variety of menu items. The food was very flavorful and plentiful. I ordered the “Today’s Rice & Curry plate (see photo of board w/special) along with Jaggery “Beef” Curry and “Beef” Rolls. I would definitely order the Jaggery “Beef” Curry and “Beef” Rolls again. My friend ordered the Deviled “Pork” and raved about it.
I look forward to trying more menu items on my next visits.

Excellent food and experience but be ready for spice - Edit
I went with a group and we took all the cashier’s recommendations which was a fantastic way to experience a cuisine we had never tried before, and to sample a lot of menu items!
Read moreWe ordered a group platter that the cashier recommended for 4 people and it was enough for 6-8 people in our opinions. Everything we chose was listed as mild or medium spicy and our group is not averse to spice, but we all found it to be highly spicy so be warned! I was hitting the Tums afterwards lol. Everything was sooo good, my favorites were the cashew curry, cheese roti, and the devil pork (can’t remember what it’s called sorry! The cashier said it’s one of their most popular menu items). Highly recommend this place for a unique, delicious experience! And it’s a co-op!

5 star food, 3 star service - Edit
The food is ALWAYS spectacular here. The one big downside, however, is the wait, and it’s entirely fixable. The restaurant now has a full bar. The problem is that the person taking the orders is the person making the drinks, and they make all drinks before taking the next order. The result is waiting in line for 45 minutes when it could be 10.
Read moreThe food is good enough that it’s worth the wait, but it’s freaking annoying. I would 100% recommend ordering take out or delivery if you’re in a time crunch.

we're glad you enjoy our food! did you happen to visit us last week? it was Burger Week and wait times were certainly longer than normal - it was our busiest week ever by a 30% margin. Things have settled back into normal levels of summer busy and I would say a 45 minute wait in line is very rare.
Read moreWe have experimented with having a second person on the bar. you are right, the wait in line does decrease, though it's not as satisfying of a change as you've projected. The issue with longer lines is often not the drinks, but two other things:
- the education/coaching required to help first-timers order a balanced and satisfying meal. We love talking to folks but it does take time. and we want to make sure they have a good first experience! our menu does explain how to order, but many people prefer a verbal conversation.
- bottleneck at our Lankan-Chinese station in the kitchen. These dishes have steadily increased in popularity and they are made to order at a station with limited space. We can only make them 1 at a time (while prepping the next to fire).
On particularly busy summer weekend nights, there's either going to be a wait to order OR a wait for your food. And in Portland, people tend to be more patient waiting in line than waiting for food. So in some sense, the pace of the line is intentional on those nights.
If it's helpful to know, Wednesdays and Thursdays are almost always our slowest nights of the week. And our busiest hours are 6 to 8. Thanks again! Feel free to reach out through our website if you have any other ideas to increase efficiency.

Worth a visit - Edit
This is a really interesting concept. The food was good. Agree with previous reviewers who found some dishes too salty, while others could have used a bit more salt.
Read moreI found it strange that the recommended dishes for the Plate for 2 didn't contain much protein beyond 1 pulse based curry, so I'd suggest adding a protein dish to the plate if one isn't included.
The pineapple cake was so good, perfectly decadent, buttery and not too sweet. The cake alone pushes this from a 4 to 5 star!
Overall, this place is definitely worth a visit.

So so insanely good! You have to try this place. We ordered a curry plate to share with 7 different dishes and a pot of tea and omg it hit the spot. Good options too if you like things on the mild side! Service is so friendly and food came out fast!!

Actually 1 Star Review, Happy Cow adds a star by fault - Edit
Decided to eat at this fancy place for my birthday been waiting for a special occasion to try it out. We finally get it delivered and it’s terribly burnt and I’m just unable to finish it. It’s awful one star review but HappyCow won’t let me do that essay automatically add an extra star, which is also another type of bogus, but I won’t go there.

Didn't know I was missing Sri Lankan food until... - Edit
Wow this place is SO GOOD. Ordered the rice & curry plate, which allows you to sample 6 of their uniformly excellent dishes. Augmented it with the cheese roti which was seriously the best vegan grilled cheese I've ever had. Great, simple Portland vibey ambience. It's a co-op and you can feel the pride and investment in every worker you interact with. This place alone makes me wish I lived in Portland.

Either super salty or very bland - Edit
With 4 of us there, we had the opportunity to try about 10dishes. We had a 1-2 person plate, a shrimp entree and a kale daily special. Also a cheese and pork roti. All but one of the plated items were extremely salty. The dal was the only one that was instead very bland and not salted enough. The roti was extremely greasy, we couldn't eat it due to the greasiness. We were really excited bcz of the reviews, but just so very disappointed. I think if it were not for the fact that Sri Lankan cuisine is very unusual in the US and maybe I'm clueless about the cuisine or maybe this was an off night, I would probably give only one star. It was really pretty bad. Also, bathroom didn't have a single working lightbulb out of several.

Sorry, but I wasn’t impressed. - Edit
The first thing is you have stand in line to order. Not a problem unless it is raining. The line to order moves very slowly. The food was really hit or miss. Some of the items were good but others not at all. We tried 10 different dishes. Also many of the dishes were room temperature when they should have been hot. We ordered a sampler that was supposed to feed two to three people. It actually was too much for four adults and one child. The roast pan was described as crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It was a large piece of stale bread. It took two hands to break a piece off.

Cons: Roast Pan, Standing in the rain , Lukewarm food.

hello! sorry you didn't enjoy your meal. Two notes for what it's worth: 1. one of the ramps to our bar is covered and protected from the rain, anyone is welcome to wait under there when it's raining and 2. some Sri Lankan dishes are intended to be served room temperature (and we prepare them in small batches as not to waste) because the food is eaten with your hands.
Read moreIt sounds like your roast paan was overcooked. We're friendly folks and would have happily replaced it with another or something else. I notice that you leave quite a few bad reviews for vegan restaurants - have you considered talking with us directly instead? We already have to contend with non-vegans leaving bad reviews simply because we serve vegan food. What are you hoping to accomplish by leaving bad reviews instead of talking to us to provide feedback? It has the added benefit of making sure you enjoy your meal. Just a thought!

Woah - Edit
I wasn’t sure what to expect as I never experienced Sri Lankan food before.. but this was so good! I had a rice and curry plate and it was MASSIVE. I had two jackfruit dishes, beef, Dahl, and the pumpkin curry and okra which were a daily special. The food was a little salty but the flavors were insane. I also tried the non alcoholic tamarind drink with the homemade ginger beer which unfortunately didn’t do it for me.

Come for Brunch!? - Edit
We’ve been several times. The curry of the day is the best. Don’t think too hard and just jump in. And why not get it for breakfast? The location also serves traditional brunch fare, perfect for the less adventurous and kids. The pancakes were amazing. I’ve now been back several times and even hosted a party here. So, yeah, it’s a cool place. One of the best representatives of Portlands unique and diverse vegan scene.

Must go - Edit
I LOVE Mirisata. They are a Portland gem. The food is higher priced than I would usually pay, but the curry meals are so generous in portions. I have never tasted some of their flavors before coming to their restaurant which is very exciting for me. I highly recommend bringing friends and sharing the family meal! Be sure to try their drinks and desserts too.

Sri Lankin food and open late! - Edit
I've never had Sri Lankin food, so this place was a fun try. Extensive menu with alcoholic and n/a beverages. Indoor seating and tons of outdoor space.
Read moreI ordered the Rice & Curry Plate (yea I know, I probably went with the most mid dish, but it was still good!) and a housemade lime soda. Enjoyed both. Curry had just a hint of spice, but nothing to detour those that can't handle spice. The soda was very refreshing. I'd overall give the meal 4 stars, but giving 5 due to the fact on Fri and Sat they are open until 12:00am. Portland establishments seem to have a diversion in staying open past 8 or 9, so props to this place for having a great night hangout spot.
Would totally go again and try some other dishes and drinks!
