Defintely visit when in Yogya!!! - Edit
Beautiful restaurant set in a peaceful garden with soothing music and water fountain. Cute little shop selling some food and souvenirs made locally e.g. jewellery, purses, clothing
Read moreVegetarian with clearly marked vegan food. Indonesian fries (sweet pot and cassava) were great, nice and crispy, with various dips available - the chilli was fruity but hot, and tamarind sesame nice and sweet
Can't remember the name of our dishes, but both were so good. Brown or white rice served with a mix of things.
One with urap (veg and spices, grated coconut - good veg selection, nice and fresh!) and aubergine&tempe in tomato curry. Tempe was fantastic, and my omni husband loved the aubergine, despite rarely liking it!!
Other dish had a bigger selection: urap, tofu curry (quite fruity!), grilled tempe (nice and crispy), fresh chilli sauce/samba, aubergine&potato in tomato curry (so tasty and quite spicy), rice crackers and a caramelized peanutty thing (kind of like granola to add crunch, goes really well with spice)
Portions were big, especially considering the price. Just managed to squeeze in a coconut choc ice cream!!
Such amazing food, good value, lovely staff, beautiful setting, cute little shop.
Worth every second of our hot sweaty walk there!!!! Must visit!!
(Closed on Mondays!)
Pros: Such delicious food, Relaxing restaurant, Good ethics yet still great value

Just incredible - Edit
This place is awesome, such a cool restaurant area and such good food. I had the tempe steak and it was so tasty, and I came back again the next night to try something else. A must visit for any vegans in Jogja.

Fijne sfeer - Edit
We hebben hier een aantal keer lekker gegeten. Fijn dat de opbrengst ten goede komt aan een project gericht op straatjeugd. Ontspannen sfeer in een mooie tuin en aardig personeel.

Lovely meal - Edit
I’d planned to go to Depot Veggie but couldn’t find it - despite the fact my map showed I had arrived! So I ended up here instead and had a really lovely meal - had the satay tofu/tempeh which was really good. I opted for brown rice and the meal was really tasty and filling.
Read moreIt was a nice peaceful setting too and was nice to have a little wander around the attached shop which had some really good products.

Great atmosphere! - Edit
Milas is such a nice place! Set within a garden you can really relax. The menu offers something for everyone. Unfortunately I chose the wrong dish. They had vegan satay, so I was curious and ordered this just to discover that they had simply put some fried tofu and some fried tempeh on a skewer! No special seasoning or something else – basically this is just what you get everywhere else in Indonesia. Brownie with vanilla ice cream and coffee weren’t as good as expected, too. But I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again and try something else. Staff is very friendly, great atmosphere and they the profits from the restaurant and the small store support a good cause.

Delicious - Edit
This place is amazing! Delicious food, many vegan options (including ice cream), relaxing atmosphere, and amiable staff. Some dishes are made with egg, but we could all replace with tempeh and tofu without any problems. Ingredients are fresh and organic (on availability). This place is a must if you visit Jogja and are a Happy Cow member.

Little garden oasis - Edit
Milas was a restaurant recommended by the hostel we stayed at. Could not have been happier to walk into this humble garden with the sound of trickling water flowing and with bamboo huts spread about with comfortable low tables with cushions for seating. The food was incredible, the three times we spent here. The tempe steak was a stand out for me and the peaflower mint drink was so refreshing. We also had the vegan desert it was a brownie with vanilla ice cream so yum.

Best place to eat in Yogyakarta! - Edit
We stayed in Yogyakarta for just under a week and ate in a good number of places but Milas was a step above the rest and brought us back for dinner a couple of times (both were delicious).
Read moreWhen you arrive you enter a beautiful and tranquil garden, a sanctuary hidden away from the busy chaos of the city streets.
You sit in bamboo shelters with the relaxing sound of trickling water from the gardens fountain in the background.
Once you've ordered your food from the large selection, most of which is vegan but all of which is vegetarian, you can walk around the garden and also explore the shop which sells wares which are all handmade on site.
Highly recommended for lunch or dinner!

Very nice place! - Edit
I loved everything about our dinner at Milas! The place is so nice, the ambiance was great, large choice, the food was super good on my end, juices as well, portions are quite big and staff great. My BF was a bit less happy with his choice but still liked it a lot! Apparently desserts was not that good compared to the plates but did not try it myself. A bit expensive but worth the price.

Great ambience - Edit
Feel kind of like I’m missing out on something here
Read moreWent to Milas twice hoping to change our mind but personally thought the food lacked a lil bit of flavour compared to other local style food even when we asked for chilli it seemed just a lil bland, though this could be because it is catered a lot to western tourists
However there is a large range of options, the staff are ridiculously friendly, the ambience in the lil garden is absolutely lush and the money is going to a good cause
Pros: Lots of vegan food, Friendly staff, Brilliant ambience
Cons: Lacks a lil flavour, Expensive

Very flavourful food with international cuisine - Edit
My wife and I tried the Indian food while our daughter had the pesto pasta special. Everything was full of flavour. I liked the complimentary peanuts and water to start. The atmosphere (more like grounds than a restaurant) was nice and there were plenty of places for kids to explore and some toys too. Only issue is that there were a lot of mosquitoes.
