Oops. Wrong Restaurant - Edit
Funny thing happened today.
Read moreI went to a great little Vietnamese restaurant last week and wrote all about it. When I placed my phone order today and showed up to pick up my food, I discovered that last week I ate at the wrong restaurant!
So, this review is actually about Indo Viet Pho House which is just in the next shopping strip to Mi La Cay. Both ended up being really good.
Indo Viet Pho House: This is a great Vietnamese restaurant with lots of vegetarian options, which are also vegan as long as you don't get egg noodles.
The take out packaging for Pho was nice. The tofu, veg, and noodles were in the box. The vegetarian broth (onion based) was in the plastic container. And the topping veg, including the Sriracha and hoisin sauce, were in two separate bags.
They had a couple appetizer items (red bean bao buns and tofu summer rolls.
Plus fried or soft tofu and veggies pho or veggies only. Specify the vegetarian broth.
Fried tofu and veggie ramen with miso broth is also available.
Also rice platters, noodle salads and stir fry noodles.
Too many things to try in one visit!
I did go to the actual Mi La Cay to pick up my order, tofu noodle salad and Pad Thai. Both were very good. The fried tofu was excellent and the veg in the pad thai was better variety than some I've had elsewhere. This restaurant will use fish sauce unless you absolutely specify for each item.

Knowledgeable staff! - Edit
We tried Mi La Cay Vietnamese Restaurant in Wheaton this afternoon. Recommended by HappyCow. They have a vegetarian menu and our server asked me about about egg preferences before I had to mention it. I ordered the pancake and he went to confirm the presence of eggs (there were none) with the kitchen without being asked. Big portions, (I took another meal's worth of mine home in a box), lots of veggies, and fast service. Recommend!

More vegan-friendly than it seems at first! - Edit
I live quite close, so I come here a lot. It’s solid food, and a good deal!
Read moreThe staff in generally knowledgeable and helpful about what’s vegan. There is a vegetarian menu, but it’s available by request.
I like the veggie pho. They’ll ask you what broth and specify the vegetarian broth. It doesn’t come with tofu by default, so I always request they add it.
I also love the pin noodles. Tell them you want it with tofu and veggies, no egg.
I also get the tofu Bahn mi. I request they make it vegan. I don’t even know what would make it not vegan (fish sauce? Mayo?) but they always say ok!
Pros: Easy parking, Delicious food, Staff helpful and know what’s vegan
Cons: Closed Thursdays
