Weird texture - Edit
Flavor wise it was almost a hit, but the carrot cake itself was dense and felt very “wet.”

Several options, but disappointed with my choice - Edit
There were at least 5 vegan options which was promising, but I only tried the chocolate fudge cake which was okay at best, but sadly worse than what I could have made myself, as someone who bakes maybe twice a year. A bit dry, and I have no idea how they made it taste slightly soapy.

Delicious vegan strawberry cheesecake - Edit
I used to go here all the time when I lived in NY. But after going plant-based, I figured there’d be nothing I could eat here. So I was happy to find they had some vegan options (individual cakes slices, few cookies). The cake options they had available today were strawberry cheesecake, chocolate fudge cake, and carrot cake. I really liked the flavor and texture of the strawberry cheesecake…not sure what it’s made of, I don’t think it’s cashew. Texture is VERY similar to regular cheesecake. I also tried the carrot cake, but was disappointed…it’s VERY dry and dense. I was surprised considering the caliber of their other baked goods that they’d even serve this. And considering a slice costs over $7, I was definitely disappointed.

Stopped by here recently on a trip to Astoria and was pleasantly surprised to find so many vegan options in this cheerful, country-style cafe. I had the vegan carrot cake (vegan chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake were also on offer along with some cookies).
Read moreCarrot cake was dense, packed with coconut, walnuts and raisins, but NOT oily. The icing was light and nothing was too sweet. I can’t wait for my next trip to this nabe so I can try the others 😉
