An all-vegan restaurant opened in 2015 in the Prati neighborhood. Open-view kitchen where you can see the preparation of the dishes. Reported fully vegan July 2018; however, please check the alcohol. Open Mon-Sat 12:00-15:00, 19:00-23:00. Closed Sun.

Overhyped place

This is, if I am not wrong, the first vegan place that opened in Rome (amazing!) BUT I honestly feel it is super overhyped. It feels like the menu hasn’t changed in ages (with a couple of -not great- seasonal off-the-menu dishes), the food quality is very mediocre (I remember specially some awful desserts after a normal bit expensive dinner). I feel like they’ve stopped trying hard cause they have a great position and a name. Just a shame…

Fantastic welcome to Rome!

We highly recommend. Reasonably priced with portions that are well defined. The items were amazing and our kids loved it too! We tried most of the pastas, appetizers, and would gladly come back. The only thing that is hard about Italy for Americans the hours are tough they don’t open most places until 1900 for dinner. Website os good and easy to make reservations!

Extremely expensive but good food

I think I ended up paying about 40€ for a starter, a main and a dessert for one person. The food was good, but it wasn't so good that I'd pay that much again. Also, the pesto pasta is pretty underwhelming - I recommend picking something else instead. I enjoyed the starter and dessert a lot more than the main.

Pros: Good food

Cons: Very expensive, Pesto pasta isn't great imo - avoid this option

Incredible!

If you are after a great selection of vegan Italian dishes then this is the place to go. The risotto was one of the best I’ve tried. Overall a nice casual atmosphere with homey, well-balanced Italian food. Definitely try this for lunch or dinner when in Rome!

Recommended neighbourhood restaurant

Ma Va'? feels like a neighbourhood restaurant which, over the course of the evening, filled up with locals rather than tourists (like us). The menu is imaginative and the meal we had was delicious. Also, unlike other vegan/vegetarian places we ate at in Rome, the portions were not meagre. The prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. Highly recommend.

Stuffed cabbage leaves - wow!

This place was unreal - so so tasty!! 😻 The stuffed cabbage leaves and also the smoked tofu pasta were to die for! Also a really lovely atmosphere with cute animal rights photos all over! Can’t wait to come back to Roma just to come here! 💜😬

Quality is not a Constant

I have eaten here twice. I have had some tremendously delicious food here. I have also had some disappointing food. There is more good than bad though, and I would still recommend this place to anyone I know.

Good pastas

We had the amatriciana (perfect) and the orecchiette alla mediterranea (nothing special, so I wouldn’t recommend it). The suppli was really good. I ordered escarola as well and it was delicious and a huge portion.

BEST VEGAN RESTAURANT

Really cute vegan restaurant by Vatican City. Felt like an authentic Italian restaurant - staff were super friendly and the decor was cozy. Great vegan Italian food!

Vegan cuisine.

If you eat here prepare to order 2-3 courses as the portion sizes are small.

The food is excellent and there are a great variety of dishes. There has been a lot of thought and care put into the menu and recipes to create a true vegan cuisine experience.

Unglaublich nettes Personal und unglaublich leckeres Essen

Das Essen und die Gastfreundlichkeit haben uns vollkommen überzeugt. Es lohnt sich die etwas touristischen Straßen zu verlassen und hierher zu kommen.

Very delicious, but portions rather on the smaller side.

We ordered the first pasta of the menu and it was absolutely delicious. Still the portions size is not too big. So you either come here when not very hungry or you order different courses.😄

Delicious meal worth the drive

We went to Ma Va for dinner on our last night. while it was a ways away from us it was well worth the drive. There are Lots of yummy-sounding dishes to choose from so go with friends so you can try it all. For antipasti we ordered the Polpette di Melanzane, for our first course we got the Mezze Maniche all'Amatriciana and Paccheri con pesto di Basilico e melanzane fritte, and for secondi we got the Polpette di Lenticchie al Marsala con Purè di Patate Rosse.

The antipasti was good but not great. The balls had an unexciting texture and flavor but the 3 sauces were quite tasty. Both pasta dishes were well cooked and flavored. The only lacking aspect was the pesto pasta didn’t much sauce so it was a little dry and lacking in flavor for me because of that. The final dish was very savory and reminiscent of meatloaf and gravy with buttery potato purée. Akin to various German, French and American dishes I ate growing up so it was nostalgic in this way.

Pros: Good Atmosphere , Friendly Staff, Delicious Food

Disappointed after seeing the other reviews

I was really disappointed with this restaurant after seeing the other reviews, unfortunately I didn’t enjoy my visit so much.

The good parts were the cute dog, the wine was good and the service was friendly.

The vegan suppli we ordered for starters was smaller and less tasty than the suppli we had in a much more central non-vegan restaurant.

We ordered carbonara after this which was covered in pepper, no other discernible flavours, the tofu ham was in microscopic slices.

We also ordered a side dish of chicory which we intended to eat with the pasta, maybe this was a miscommunication or cultural difference but this didn’t show up with the pasta, we assumed they had forgotten but when I mentioned it at the end of the meal they said it was coming next. We hadn’t ordered a second main (after seeing the prices!) so they served the side dish at the end of the meal on its own. It wasn’t really pleasant and I couldn’t finish it.

Pros: Dog, Friendly service , Wine was good

Cons: Expensive, Sorry but we just didn’t enjoy the food
