Pastries and bread! - Edit
This all vegan bakery focuses on delicious sourdough breads but had also ventured into pastries and viennoiserie. I can recommend everything they make - from bread to pastries. As a German I often miss good bread in the Netherlands, but dare I say: Loafs breads are some of the best I’ve had! They have a great crust and stay fresh for quite a while - which is a sign of quality and craftsmanship!
Read moreTheir pastries are not too sweet and thus perfect for me! The cinnamon buns are always available, but they also have croissants, pain au chocolate, cakes, cruffins (croissant dough in muffin form) and other daily specials. It’s always worth checking them out. Make sure to be quite early to get the best selection - since it’s a small establishment they sometimes sell out quickly.

The best bakery that ever existed - Edit
I wanted to write this review after I heard that Loaf closed earlier this month. I am very sad to hear I LOVED their cinnamon buns, croissants, pain au Chocolat, the brownie cookies, their focaccia! I went there very regularly. I hope I will have the opportunity to eat again Sanne's treats! Is it a possibility that the bakery will open again in a different location?

Great all-vegan sourdough bakery with the best cruffins I've ever had. Whenever I have a special occasion I'll order in advance and go here. Be sure to order 3 days in advance, or come early (at 10 am) because they sell out fast!

Goodbye, Loaf! - Edit
Unfortunately, the owner has sold this place and it will close in August. I’ve been coming here since their opening on 1 August 2020, so I’ll miss them. Sanne has grown a successful bakery that many non-vegans also loved. Hopefully we’ll see more of her in the future!
Read moreI love their flakey and buttery cruffins. My favourites are with pistachio, vanilla, mango/coconut, lemon cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake, forest fruits and peach/almond. I found the lemon merengue, cherry/hazelnut, apple pie, rhubarb and stoofpeer cruffins less good.
I also like their seitan/‘cheese’ croissant, olive/‘cheese’ croissant, plain croissant, almond croissant, hazelnut/chocolate croissant, pain au chocolat, kouign amann, carrot cake, pumpkin spice cake, white chocolate/orange cake, vanilla slofje and pecan/miso cookie.

Cinnamon buns and cruffins - Edit
We ordered a rhubarb cruffin and a cinnamon bun. These seem to be the two things they sell the most other than bread. The cruffin was a little too crunchy and perhaps a little dry. I was expecting something more buttery and soft like a croissant inside it. The cinnamon bun was fine. Not bad pastries, but I've tasted better in the Netherlands.

Cruffins and Swedish cinnamon rolls - Edit
Must-visit when in the neighbourhood. They have brilliant cruffins (make sure you arrive in time) and other pastries including Swedish cinnamon rolls. The bread (to buy a loaf or sit down for lunch) is clearly homemade as well.

One of the best sourdough bread of Utrecht. Focaccia is definitively worth trying: incredibly fluffy and very generous portion.

Hands down the best bakery in town - Edit
Love their bread as well as the pain au chocolat and cinnamon buns. They serve great coffee as well. The focaccia is okay but can be a bit dry. The croissants and other pastries have really improved over time. The cruffins especially are really good. I tried the vanilla cruffin, lemon cheesecake cruffin and the rhubarb cruffin and they were all very very good. Overall, I absolutely love this place.

The best cruffins! - Edit
I ordered a surprise bag through Too Good To Go. I got some lovely sourdough bread (not long and flat but they have a width to them which is how I like my sourdough) that had a perfect tang to it. The pistachio cruffin tasted fresh and yummy when I airfried it for a minute on a low temperature the next day. Major almond croissant vibes. I’m definitely planning on visiting their store soon.

Excellent pastries, coffee, and sourdough - Edit
We visited twice on a short trip to Utrecht. Both times, the workers were really friendly, and the pastries and coffee were delicious. We especially loved the cinnamon buns, pain aux chocs, and focaccia. The spelt sourdough was fabulous. The space is small but very cosy, and you can easily join other people if needed. There’s also seating out back! If you’re in Utrecht, this is the bakery to visit!!

Loaf is a small bakery with a lot of good stuff. My favorites are the pain au chocolate, cinnamon buns, brownie and cruffins. Their sourdough breads are good as well! Definitely worth a visit!

A very cute cafe! - Edit
This was a beautiful spot for breakfast on our trip in Utrecht! The staff were very friendly and we sat in a sunny courtyard for delicious coffee and pastries.
