Vegan option available, starter, main and dessert - Edit
The waitress was really friendly and accommodating. I thought the food was great although there was only one vegan option for a main (also one starter). I didn't try the dessert unfortunately.
Read moreI would definitely visit again, I read and dismissed a lot of menus before I found this place.
Pros: The food, including lots of bread, A vegan pudding option is rare!
Cons: Quite pricey but because of the location I don't.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! 😔 - Edit
Tucked away from the main restaurants in the square, this is one fantastic little place. Several vegan options, I had the tartare de tomates, vegan cassoulet, and caramelised pineapple. All the food was genuinely top quality, you can tell a lot of thought has gone in to these vegan options as opposed to some other establishments where the vegan offering seems an afterthought.
Read morePricing is incredibly good value for the location, 21 euros for a delicious 3 course meal is a bargain.
Staff were extremely friendly and attentive, and knowledgeable on veganism. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and friendly.
I honestly can not recommend this place enough if you are in the area!
EDIT 09/24:
Under new ownership, and not for the best!
One of the main reasons I wanted to come back to Carcassonne whilst in the area was to experience the vegan cassoulet from here again. Sadly they have stopped doing it. They still have some vegan options, but they are nowhere near as vegan friendly as previously.
We had the carpaccio de legumes and gnocchi dish.
The gnocchi was served with chunks of parmesan on top despite me reiterating that we are vegan! We had to pick it all out before eating. I told the waitress who seemed a bit puzzled so hopefully it’s been taken on board.
We could have just sent it back for a new one, but let’s face it they probably would have just picked the cheese out and sent it back!
We had panacota for dessert which was actually superb.
I did feedback that I specifically came back for the vegan cassoulet, and apparently a lot of others have too, but it seems they are not interested in reintroducing it.
All in all though, after this experience I will not be rushing back!
Genuinely gutted as I’d been dreaming of that falafel cassoulet!

DOMMAGE POUR LE CASSOULET 😭 - Edit

Was .. Best Vegan food in the Old Cite - Edit
Update 2024 . They have one dish . It’s terrible … don’t bother .
Read moreThere is a Vegan menu with 3 choices of starter, mains and desserts. Living nearby, it truly is the best tasting vegan food there is , believe me I’ve been to some appalling places !!
With options for my carnivore husband, it’s always a great place in the summer to sit on the square and watch life go by with a glass of local wine !

Pros: Good options , Tasty , Reasonably priced
Cons: Can be a bit slow on service in the summer.

Not that good - Edit
Not really recommended. Poorly organized, long waiting times and some dishes are not available. Only a small vegan selection.

Meh - Edit
Very little vegan option. The supposedly vegan menu had dairy cheese in the dish so you have to ask it without cheese if you order it. The chopped veggies option (an entry dish) has little taste. If you want tap water you have to make sure to say tap water otherwise they will give you bottled water and charge you for it. Really not worth it. Also the fries (/chips) are cooked in the same oil as the chicken nuggets. The waitress was nice enough to let us know.

Cons: Produce has no taste. Idk about non vegan dishes, Only one vegan option, Not worth the price

No vegan cassoulet :( - Edit
When we arrived we discovered they didn't have vegan cassoulet anymore. Furthermore, they had run out of vegan hot dogs, so the only vegan item were the ravioli (which by default have parmesan cheese so they are not really vegan as they are). We had them as part of the vegan menu, which cost 27€ and included a salad, the pasta and a dessert, but no drink included.
Read moreOverall, the food was good but the service was slow and we were a bit disappointed that we couldn't try the cassoulet...
Nevertheless it is mostly the only vegan "friendly" place inside Carcassonne.
Pros: Tasty food, Labelled vegan options
Cons: Expensive, Slow service, Limited vegan options

Good, but pricey and slow - Edit
The menu was different than the ones featured in Happy Cow. It only had one vegan option for lunch which really was the Vegetarian option but without parmesan (fun fact, parmesan cheese is not in fact vegetarian).
Read moreWe had a veggie carpaccio (very fresh), ravioli with truffle (scarce but excellent) and a quite decent panna cotta for dessert. Problem is we arrived at 13:00 and until 14:00 we didn't start eating. It was on the more expensive side but it was good overall and there is no other option inside the citadel.

I’d have given it 5 stars if it had been all-vegan. Great location (in the main square of La Cité), really attentive waitress, and fabulous vegan options. #Veganuary

Vegan 3 course menu - Edit
Healthy and delicious french vegan menu. Visited in June 2022. We stopped here on the way to the airport. Lovely setting in the walled city, in a gorgeous tree filled courtyard in the back of the restaurant that was very cool on the hot day. Our party all ordered the vegan 3 course menu. The food was tasty and we'll presented. The caramelized pineapple carpaccio for dessert with raspberry sorbet was out of this world.

Great little find - Edit
The staff are really friendly and the little restaurant is tucked away in the centre of Carcasonne Cite with a lovey rear patio area with plenty of shade. We only had the vegan burger but was fabulous and there were other options including a vegan set menu. Hopefully more vegan and vege options can be added.

They have a vegan menu! - Edit
When generally there are almost no vegan options in this area, to find a place that had a vegan menu was such a lovely surprise. We went for two courses and everything was delicious. One of us had the soya burger and the other the parmentier (cottage pie). For dessert we had the crumble with sorbet and the grilled pineapple. The staff were friendly, there was a nice atmosphere and the food was great. A brilliant find.

Amazing 3-course vegan menu - Edit
This was one of the only places we could find in Carcassonne cité with a full vegan menu and it did not disappoint. There were two options for starter and dessert, three for the main, including a traditional cassoulet or a Parmentier. The food was very good and there is a beautiful shaded courtyard to sit in when the weather is good.

Finally some classic food - Edit
The most struggling I’m fighting as vegan is to find “classic” food veganized, we’ve got more than enough burger, pizza and so on, but traditional food, no matter the country or the city : it’s difficult to find.
Read moreLe Cachotier is one of this golden place where you can find a vegan version of traditional French food, even more : traditional cassoulet!!
I’m so happy to tell you that even tho the restaurant is not fully vegan, I’ve heard at least one person per table order vegan food 🥰
