Friendly staff and good food

The restaurant had friendly and attentive staff, and clear and separate vegetarian and vegan menu. Others from my group ordered some of the vegetarian options. I had the vegan burrito bowl which was very tasty. Would go back again.

Pros: Separate vegetarian and vegan menu, Friendly and attentive staff, Reasonable prices

Latin Delights

We had a fantastic lunch here recently ordering the jackfruit tinga tacos to share, fajitas and pulled jackfruit beetroot burrito with a vegan beer and white wine. The tacos were delicious with the chipotle sauce a particular highlight. The sizzling veg fajitas were so flavoursome and accompanied by some excellent dips and super soft tortillas, whilst the jackfruit burritos were bursting with flavour. For dessert we ordered the chocolate coconut tart, which was so moreish. Definitely one to try. Staff were very friendly and accommodating for our baby son. The quayside views aren't bad either!

Pros: Excellent food, Location, Nice staff

South-American food by the beautiful quayside

Las Iguanas has a fully vegan/vegetarian menu (and a fully gluten free menu too) that makes choosing foods really easy. I had the Brazilian Moqueca de Palmitos which had ethically sourced hearts of palms in a coconut sauce with lots of fresh vegetables. The dish was delicious and really filling as it came with spring onion rice, green beans and salsa. I really recommend this dish. For dessert I had a chocolate torte with a creamy coconut sorbet which was one of the best vegan desserts I have had in a long time. So rich and flavoursome.

This restaurant has really eclectic and colourful decor and plays Latino music all the time, the ambiance is wonderful. It also happens to be really near the quayside which is a truly good location.

great selection

They have a completely separate Vegan and veggie menu that is so tasty and varied that several of my non vegan friends ordered from it. Staff were very attentive and on the ball.

Quayside Cocktails

Lovely location for the new addition to Newcastle's Las Iguanas. I think this restaurant is more relaxed that it's predecessor on Grey Street which is very busy and can be crowded at weekends. I love the fact that they have a separate veggie and vegan menu, it shows they take our diet very seriously and saves having to ask lots of questions to bemused looking waiting staff. This particular restaurant has ample outdoor seating for a nice drink in the sun and with the option of high quality 2-1 cocktails it would be rude not to give a try.

Pros: Separate veggie & vegan menu, Great quality 2-1 cocktails, Lovely location

Cons: Serves a lot of meat dishes

Beach Bums

Themed a bit like a beach bar. Colourful, fun & bright but still maintaining a good touch of class. It's right on the river behind Pitcher & Piano in the former La Tasca premises. All food and wine is clearly labelled as vegetarian or vegan. It's not often you see that with wine. The meat free options are quite extensive here. We didn't have food on this occasion but the menu looked pretty similar to the Las Iguanas in the city centre. Cocktails are 2 for 1 all day every day. I'd recommend the Caipirihna, always my cocktail of choice. Get a nice booth, pick a cocktail and have some tapas. What a great way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon when the football season has finished

Pros: nice interior & location, good cocktails, lots of vegan options
