Great find

Glad i stumbled upon this place. My dish (mushroom something) was very good - flavorful, filling and inexpensive. Service was great as well. Check it out. It is so worth it.

Pros: all veg, service, price

Best Street Food for Vegans in Chiang Mai! Check it out!

Thai Thais are the highly popular street food carts in Thailand.

Yum, the lovely, English speaking lady who owns the stall, is a mangsawirat vegetarian (kind of Jeh, but eat eggs).

Eggs are served at this stall. Egg tofu is too, though egg free tofu is also available.

Yum understands vegan needs well.

How about the food? It is great! This is authentic, Thai street food that you can eat confidently as a vegan, if you explain to Yum your needs.

DISHES to TRY:

TOM KA
Tom Ka: (Kind of spicy, coconut soup) If you are only there once, please try that amazing soup. It is so full of flavour and Thai herbs and vegetables, you will drift away to Lana. Ask Yum if you can watch the dish being prepared. It is a wonder to behold.

TOM YUM
Tom Yum: (Spicy soup with many choice ingredients) If you are lucky, Yum will cook this for you. Her way is wonderful.

If you are hungry, I don't think the rice dishes are small at all. They are filling. Have another dish! All the vegetables are fresh.

Saturday evenings get VERY busy at Chiang Mai Gate market. Be prepared for a bit of a wait, hustle and bustle getting around, and less chance for a pleasant chat with Yum.

Pros: Authentic, vegan, street Thai food at a low price, Owner cares about the vegetarian way of life, Lively location with loads to see in the evening

Cons: Serves egg. Is garlic to be found?, Busy on Saturday nights. Closed on Sundays(?)., Tables are in high demand, so don't linger long.

Bad

Not good. The food is probably the worst I've had in Thailand and expensive for a street stall. Very small portions as well. They put little effort into this food.1 star, but for some reason Happy Cow doesn't allow that...

Bad

Paid 50 Baht for a tiny portion of Stir Fried Instant Noodles. Absolutely expensive and the food was okay but nothing special. Would not recommend.

Cons: Expensive , No prices shown , Tiny portions

Small meal - decent tasting and fresh

Had a stir fried mixed veggies with noodles - no egg. The portion was a little small. No prices were listed on the menu and it was 35 baht. The price seemed too high for what I got at a street vendor. A bigger and nicer meal (with rice - two selections 30 B) from a basic sit down place called Ming Kwan (86 Ratchadamnoen Rd).

Pros: Fresh

Cons: small meal, food stall surroundings

Good Clean pure Veg Street Food and No MSG

The woman that run this/cooks is really nice and speaks English. Sometimes the cart is there and sometimes it isn't. She has a good selection of noodles and veggies for stir-fry and it's very clean. A dish is about 25 baht.

They have a large red and yellow menu in English in front of their cart so if they are there it is easy to find. They are located in front of the day market a minutes walk from 7-11. Usually there once it gets dark until appx 11pm. There are chairs and tables to eat there if you want.

Best pure veg street cart I've seen.

Yummy and cheap

We loved this place! While we were in Chiangmai we ate here almost every day. She opens after 6 pm and stays open until 12 ish. Dishes are only 25-30 baht. Try the mushroom meat in a bag, so good! Smoothie making too.

Pros: Cheap, Fresh, Tasty

Cons: Sometimes not open, Takes time
