great little place

la zucca is highly recommended ... they were quick and helpful to create a vegan menu for us, very tasty, nicely combined variation of dishes.

Pros: great dishes, nice, helpful people, the location at the canal

Buono

Buona la zuppa ma le opzioni vegane, a parte i contorni, sono molto limitati

Reservation recommended

This place seems popular so would recommend areservation, especially if you prefer to sit inside. Their menu leans vegetarian but they can point out what is vegan. Enjoyed the vegan pesto pasta!

The platter was delicious

Zucca was a lovely and popular dinner destination. The menu was fully listed in Italian, but we asked for their vegan options and they had starters, primis, mains and one dessert. My partner and I shared a primi (red pesto pasta; €15) and a vegetarian main that they veganised (the platter; €22). The fresh pasta was delicious but incredibly rich, so it was good to have both. Very filling too (both plates were a similar size actually) so we did not go for any desserts. Good atmosphere and we were lucky to get the last (sharing) table because everything was completely booked full! Staff were very friendly and we had a window view of the river.

Pros: Delicious

Cons: Ask for vegan / to veganise, Menu in Italian

Delicious vegetables

The food we got was delicious, but it was a little confusing to order. There was one vegetarian main that could be made vegan and a couple of vegan starters. Most of the side dishes were vegan, so we got around four to share. They were so so good, but I would have appreciated a slightly clearer menu. Be aware that you’re in for more of a sharing plate situation and you’ll be fine. Maybe also stop your partner from taking what was clearly the largest artichoke.

Pros: Delicious vegetables, Local produce , Range of dishes

Cons: Lack of clear labelling

Very cozy!

La Zucca is a beautiful space with super friendly staff. The menu is omni, with an emphasis on vegetable forward dining. They change the menu daily so it’s difficult to predict the vegan offerings, but there is usually one vegan primi, dessert and contorni. I really enjoyed my soup, it was hearty and very satisfying after days of pasta. A reservation is required, and I’d recommend it more for those who are seeking something different than your typical tourist eats in Venice.

Buone scelte vegetariane

Nice lunch option.

My vegan lunch (Mixe of vegetables with rice) was very pleasant for sure. The menu is a bit confusing and could offer more vegan options but we definately had a great time there.

Loved La Zucca

Our lunch was excellent, really great little place. Loads of vegan options and friendly staff who were very happy to help. The food was some of the best we had in Venice.

Very good food

They don't have labelled vegan options, but the waiter knew what was vegan and what was not.
Everything tasted so good, even the side dishes which are quite simple but well made.

Popular place for seasonal eats

Call ahead to make a reservation, especially if you want to sit outside, because this place is very popular. When we went we were initially turned away because we didn’t have a reservation but then we asked again and were advised if we wait and someone leaves we could sit but they didn’t take our name so after a few couples left we went up again and they seated us inside (easier to get a table inside than out).
The menu is in Italian so we had to look up some items we didn’t know. Although there is a symbol for dishes that contain dairy (most), there were also some that didn’t have the symbol but mentioned cheese - such as mozzarella - in the description and to my knowledge they don’t have vegan cheese so that was confusing. Quite a few items had meat or eggs as well, so we ended up just ordering an antipasti and multiple sides. All the vegetables were yummy and seemed fresh. I enjoyed the food, I just wished there was a vegan bolognese or lasagne I could’ve dove into, and even a torta (no vegan desserts). Food was on the more expensive side, which I would’ve been fine with if it was a nice main dish or multi course meal, but a bit disappointing since it was basically sides. Did seem quality though.

Pros: Healthy options, Seasonal menu, Fast service

Cons: Popular so hard to get in, No English on menu, No vegan main dishes

Amazing vegan sides

I just ordered a side of tagliatelle with olive oil, a side of fried eggplant without feta, and a side of beans with lime avocado. Delicious, filling and only 12 euros.

Pretty accommodating. the sevrer was ajuste very clear that he could not put the vegetables on top of the pasta for some reason.

Great for vegetarians (and not only)

If you are veg*an i found It quite difficult to eat good food in Venice: the other restaurants offer more or less only expensive tomato spaghetti, as they are specialized in fish. Instead la zucca, even though not entirely vegetarian, offer lots of vegetable dishes made with love. Go there, you Will Be Happy! Prices are also ok. I would Like to give 5 stars but the maximum for Happy cow rules Is 4

Pros: Vegetables cooked with fantasy, Variety, Less expensive than other typical restaurants

Creative cuisine

Although, I am vegan I still love going to La Zucca (the pumpkin) where the speciality is, of course, pumpkin.
On my last visit I had a mixed vegetable dish, a delicious raspberry sorbet and very good wine.
If you want to eat in an authentic restaurant (not created for tourists) and drink really good local wines La Zucca is the place for you.
Remember that it is extremely popular with the locals and well informed tourists so booking is essential. Not many tables inside and even less outdoor.
If you arrive by boat you can enter directly from the canal!

Pros: Authentic restaurant , Nice view of the canal, Good food & super wine

Cons: Can be expensive , Limited sitting space, Often fully booked
