Read moreWe had refreshing home brewed iced tea. Our starters came quick piping hot stuffed mushrooms and the croquettes. Both were superb and very subtly flavoured.
The mains were quick too and what a plateful. I had the idea at theFran Francesinha and Su the Bitoque.
Mine was a bread and cheese parcel with saiten, tofu and many other tastes and flavours in a rich tomato gravy. The Bitique is the restaurants take on essentially ham eggs and chips and it was amazingly tasty and we would highly recommend.
All in the meal cost €42 for 2 starters, 2 mains and 4 non alcoholic drinks. Fantastic value

Delicious veganized traditional Portuguese food - Edit
We really liked the cauliflower wings and my son loved the vegan francesinha. This is traditional Portuguese food, but veganized. It's a small restaurant so make sure to make reservations or go during a slower time of the day. Overall, it was good food. It's not in my top 5 of Lisbon, but it's a solid choice when in the area.

Excellent food. Some of the most flavourful, wholesome food I’ve had in a long time. I had the “octopus” made of oyster mushrooms. I don’t like mushrooms but I LOVED this dish. All the components were excellent. Every single aspect was full of flavour. Definitely going back to try the other dishes!

Great variety on the menu, and fantastic that traditional Portuguese food is given a vegan twist. The starters were very tasty, the mains were good but lacking a little bit extra to get the full five stars. Service was brilliant and restaurant atmosphere was also good. Would come back to try more, but have other preferences in Lisbon.

I had the steak and eggs and the snickers tart. Both were superb. I’ve never had such realistic vegan eggs/steak— I had to check with the waiter to make sure they were vegan. 10/10!

Everything we enjoyed at Kong was so delicious! Our favourite was the "fish" dish and the croquettes. Save room for the snickers cake too. My sister is not vegan and enjoyed it too. It was so great to have Portuguese food, veganized.

Read moreThe black wooden tables and dark, plastic chairs stood on a wooden, dark brown floor surrounded by orange walls. In a corner there was a tiny jungle with plants and a large statue of a gorilla - the symbol of Kong.
I had the Lunch Menu which included a starter, the dish of the day and a dessert. The dish of the day was a risotto. I picked the cauliflower wings as my starter and the oreo mousse as my dessert. All of this cost cost only 12,90€. To drink I had a caipirinha. Everything was absolutely delicious. The cauliflower wings very crunchy, the risotto was creamy and the oreo mousse was the best oreo dessert I've ever had. On top of this the service was flawless.
I had a great time at Kong and would love to go back.

Read moreThe ‘octopus’ is nice and dished beautifully but the texture of the mushroom is somewhat chewy although the rest of the dish tasted great.
The Francesinha wasn’t to our liking but perhaps this is because we are not Portuguese so the pairing is odd to us.
The desserts are fantastic, I’d highly recommend the Oreo mousse but the others we’ve tried were also great.
Interior decor is nice, food served promptly and prices not unreasonable.

When travelling, my partner and I always try to find some vegan alternatives to taste traditional cuisine and this place provided exactly that. Everything was delicious. We particularly loved the spicy croquettes, the Peixe vegano, the Polvo feliz à lagareiro and the Francesinha, and honestly, we wish we could've tasted the entire menu.
Read moreStaff was kind and courteous. We arrived on a busy night without a reservation and they were very gracious to us, and found us a table as soon as they could. If you can, I recommend ringing them and making a reservation if you've got plans to go! They were also very nice, polite and helpful throughout service.
Loved this place and would recommend it to any vegan or person interested in plant-based meals for an authentic, savoury Portuguese experience!
