Got the mothra-men ramen, the gochujang baked beans, and the sesame spinach. All excellent. They even made their brussel sprout special vegan upon my request. That, too, was excellent.
Tip: If you like things on the saltier side, be sure to ask for salt and/or soy sauce to add to the mothra-men ramen.
Pros: Handful of vegan options, clearly labelled on menu, Will make things vegan, if possible, upon request, Great sakes and mixed drinks, and great atmosphere
The new vegan winter ramen called "mothra-men" is delicious, with oodles of extra goodies on top, including sweet potatoes, bok choy, soy dumplings, and mushrooms. I also really like the smaller brothless ramen "tom ka mazemen" which has a coconut curry sauce and chopped cabbage and carrots. Much much better than my first ramen experience here (see below).
I'd also recommend the vegan yuzu lemonade and yuzu sorbet - really delicious and intensely citrus-y. The sorbet can come with a vegan coconut whipped cream. The vegan meatballs are tasty but you get so few that I probably won't order them again.
I went to Kaiju when they first opened here and enjoyed the waitstaff and the number of vegan options, but neither I nor the other vegan with me were really impressed by the food, especially the disappointing vegan ramen. Now that I've tasted some of their new options, I will definitely come back again. I really hope that they keep the winter ramen ("mothra-men") as a year-round dish!
I wish it weren’t so, but the vegan ramen here is really bad. Perhaps the worst I’ve had. The “broth” wasn’t liquid—it was a really creamy texture with the consistency of tahini or watered down peanut butter. Not very appetizing at all. Beyond the broth, the rest of the bowl left a lot to be desired as well. The tofu had the flavor of liquid smoke but nothing else, and there wasn’t much in the way of veggies. To top it all off, the price is comparable to what you’d pay in NYC or another big city for a legit bowl of ramen from a fashionable spot.
Very cool atmosphere (Kaiju are Japanese monster cartoons), but the vegan ramen was awful. Sickly sweet with way too much liquid smoke in the tofu. Yelp reviews say the same of the vegan meatloaf, which covers the two vegan entre options. The cocktails are $12 - pretty expensive for what you get.

I enjoyed the vegan ramen! it was creamer than typical ramen with a smoky flavor. It was a nice change compared to regular ramen.
