Brunch Hit - Edit
Came for brunch on a Friday and tried the blueberry muffin smoothie, a matcha latte, an avocado blt, and the chocolate chip cookie. All were very good and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. I do wish there were more side options for the sandwich like chips, fries, or side salad.
Read moreLove that they offer reusable take out containers and have a compost bin, but I was surprised that the smoothie and latte cups for an order we ate in restaurant was not served in glass or another reusable cup.

Okay - Edit
We got a taco salad & homefries.
Read morePortion size was smaller than we expected (based on previous reviews) especially for the price! It was good, but nothing GREAT.
Service was slower than expected for a cafe. And they totally needed ventilation. It smelled like grease !

I got one of their seasonal fall smoothies. It was very good! They stop serving food at 3 even though they stay open until 4 but the rest of their menu looked good. I'd love to try it sometime

Weekly Treat! - Edit
I've only ever tried açai bowls...because they are amazing, and I can't stop ordering them every time I come in. So, I have yet to try anything else on the menu, despite really wanting to. Although I'm GF, so I'm always a bit reluctant to order sandwiches with GF bread because it's an upcharge and smaller (typically not tasty) bread. They use O'Doughs bread, which looks good (but is smaller, so I'm guessing the sandwiches will be smaller.)
Read moreEnough about GF bread😜Back to these amazing açai bowls. They're really generous in size (yay), come with GF granola (yay, no upcharge) and I typically add in protein powder (a reasonable upcharge.) A great meal, which I eat next to my pup, and share banana slices with her. I get them without agave. It's our weekend treat.
One day I'll stick around all day so I have room for a savory item.
Yay for compostable packaging and a compost bin!
Update: tried the Scram-bowl. Very yummy. But not large enough for me to feel satiated. Adding in veggies would’ve helped with that. But it’s rare to find places that offer a bulk of veggies in a vegan dish (why is that??)

Pros: All vegan homemade food, Lovely staff, Great portion sizes

Lovely venue - Edit
This is a small venue, with a few tables and stools. They have juices, smoothies, and a few meal items. This is old school, small but healthy vegan place with friendly service; Dover is lucky to have a place like this.

The best little vegan gem! - Edit
Every time I’ve eaten at or ordered from Roots has been a delight. I am constantly looking forward to the days when I can enjoy a Sunny Sandwich, a slice of Roots chocolate cake, or a yummy cold brew. Pre-COVID I loved sitting in the cozy cafe and looking at all of the stickers, patches and other fun items inside. Now, and since the pandemic began, I’ve felt the utmost confidence in Roots to operate in a way that protects their employees as well as their customers. I’m so happy that Roots has continued to offer the same level service and the same delicious recipes (and more!!!) since implementing precautions that make me feel safe continuing to order. The owner is extremely thoughtful and always looking to make a special experience for her customers. Not only has Roots continued to be open for takeout (and now delivery), they have offered specials for certain holidays - Thanksgiving meals, Valentine’s sweets - and have done online cooking classes and other informative videos for the community. The online ordering process is great, allowing customers to pre-order for contactless pickup. Don’t forget to tip! I’m amazed at how much this little business does, all the while making sure to have an impact on their community. Plus, there is literally no better place to go for a vegan/gf breakfast sandwich (the sunny). It’s heavenly.

Best Vegan Restaurant - Edit
Delicious! I took my two friends and my partner (all non vegans) and they were super impressed. I’m new to the Dover area and had been wanting to try it since before moving in! It totally lived up to the hype and I can’t wait to go back! I got the chorizo breakfast burrito and also tried the sunny- both delicious.
