Delicious soup - Edit
Ate lunch here with my husband (a vegetarian), had a lovely soup, delicious pasty and huge rock bun. Very helpful and friendly service, cool and quirky surroundings.

Tea and cake - Edit
Stopped by for an afternoon cup of tea and cake. It seemed popular and was rather busy inside (there is limited seating) but as it was dry I was able to sit in the courtyard area outside which was nice.
Read moreI was a little disappointed because despite a cabinet full of cakes only two options were vegan. I had hope for more choice based on previous reviews/ as it is a vegetarian cafe. Having said that the cake was moist and tasty. There was a good choice of fruit/herbal tea.
Pros: Independent, Nice cake, Outdoor seating
Cons: Closes early, Limited vegan cake choices

Cute little Cafe - Edit
Nice place to stop by. The salad was amazing and I absolutely loved the vegan cake they served! It was really refreshing and felt inovative.

Proper little gem! - Edit
This little gem can be found in Commercial Road in Swanage and the whole area is a fascinating magnet for quirky shops and galleries. Walk into Java and you are cheered up immediately - the decor and collection of bits and pieces is fun and so colourful. Vegan cake and special vegan treats abound, alongside great salads with the tastiest dressings, also a good selection of vegetarian food and the best coffee around. It opens early (8am) and closes early, (3.30pm) so you need to get there by lunch time to have a chance of sharing in the vegan options.

A great little caf - Edit
We found this place when looking for a good coffee, which it absolutely delivered on. But we went back for some lovely vegan food - the vegan tarts and salad were great. Lots of veggie choices and some vegan. The owner is also very friendly and the two times we went there was a great soundtrack and a really nice atmosphere.

Could only be better if it went vegan - Edit
This place was lovely, tucked away in a quiet back street. It seems really popular and there is a good local crowd. The owner was really welcoming and helpful when it came to vegan choices. The only way this place could be improved is if it ditched the dairy and went entirely vegan!

Friendly for us and the dog! - Edit
Lovely spot tucked away but easy to find with the signs. Just ask and they will let you know vegan options. Dog friendly and lovely staff. Would be 5 star for me if fully vegan. Also for info was cash only.

Fabulous AND Dog friendly - Edit
It took us a while to find it as it’s tucked away behind the main street - look out for the bill boards showing the way. What a find - a small cafe with eclectic and interesting decoration. The vegetarian and vegan food was so good. I had a hummus and haloumi toastie which came with a side salad and slaw. I also bought an apple scone to take away. All very tasty and left me wanting to go back. Staff were friendly and helpful and it’s also very dog friendly. The was a wide choice of vegetarian and vegan food. Loved it.

I have lunch here whenever I am in Swanage. Fantastic salad served with excellent home-made tarts. And REAL loose-leaf tea - no tea-bags here! Pity it is not open in the evenings.

A hidden gem - Edit
Tucked away off the main high streets of Swanage is this unexpected hidden gem. Serving vegetarian food with plenty of vegan options. Inside the cafe it's cosy and inviting. Decoration is inspired by its name, Java. Very friendly staff welcomed us on arrival. They were eager to serve and share the delicious menu. There are various cakes, hot drinks and hot and cold food. The menu changes daily with the main offerings home cooked by the owner. Outside there is plenty of comfortable seating, a tranquil place to enjoy a delicious soya flat white or bite to eat if the weather is behaving. Overall well worth a visit.

Cons: Might fill up fast inside if it's raining!
