the best vegan mexican in the city - Edit
I grew up on Mexican food, being originally from the Los Angeles area and raised by two immigrants from Latin America and this place is truly the BEST vegan Mexican I’ve ever had, and I’ve eaten here more times than I can count! The nachos are truly out of this world. I’ve tried several other things on their menu that are amazing (but the nachos are definitely the best). The pineapple mezcal is also such an amazing drink. I can not recommend this place enough! It’s far from perfect (definitely has its fair share of flaws) but the food rlly compensates for all of it.

I can’t even put into words how amazing this food is. High-quality, natural ingredients and everything is unbelievably delicious. The quesadilla and queso dip are out of this world. I could eat here every day and I have been lately. 10 stars if I could.

Mexican (in Chinatown) - Edit
Though in Chinatown, this is a Mexican-vegan restaurant. It I located at the East end of Canal Street, next to the East Broadway F train stop. The place is small, and portions are not huge. However, the food is vegan and delicious--much better than the vegan options in non-vegetarian Mexican places.

The restaurant is very small but comfortable. The food is absolutely delicious and the options are very creative- for instance, the palm carnitas taco has jackfruit instead of meat

I had such a hard time deciding what to order because everything looked great. I ended up getting the Dinosaur Kale bowl. It was a big bowl full of kale, mango, avocado, tasty smoked coconut and more. I really enjoyed it.

Hell I’d come back - Edit
So here’s an honest review of this place. The drinks are phenomenal! I had the sangria (several) and my friend ordered the margarita (also several) and they are BOMB. The only problem we had is that we came to drink and then eat eventually when we would have gotten hungry, but apparently there’s a 90 minute table limit. This is awkward for everyone: we were disappointed and annoyed with the servers upon hearing this, the servers had the tough job of telling us this disappointing news, and that all just sucks but isn’t the end of the world. If you want to drink, your best bet is to sit at the bar. Tables seem to be mainly food oriented. It does fill up, so I can understand why. After about an hour of drinking we decided to order the pupusas to soak up some of the alcohol that we drank so rapidly bc it was so delicious. The pupusas were delicious honestly.

I’ve been to this spot twice and LOVED it. The food was amazing. Took my husband and daughter - who are not vegans - and they enjoyed everything. Both times I went midday. I hear this place gets pretty crowded at night and weekends.

Boffo Mexican! - Edit
Located in a comfortingly shabby corner of lower Manhattan, Jajaja is a gem of rare quality. The cuisine is innovative yet authentically Mexican. They offer a nice variety of dishes. The bar has a lots of mezcal and tequilas, if that is your thing, as well as beer and wine. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful. The vibe is chic & relaxed. This is a Must-Try spot.

Spanish flavor - Edit
Great place to get a little of the Spanish flavor, they use fresh products and make things accordingly. Our favorite items from them is the desert, you HAVE to try the churros with dulce the leche and the flan, they’re both amazing and bring back so much memories. If you order nachos make sure you clarify them if you don’t mind them spicy because otherwise they come like that, SPICY. Meals are also well served and in good portions. Only went twice, I don’t know what it is but there’s something we don’t like that we can’t figure out just yet.

Birthday lunch this afternoon @jajajanyc
Read moreWe were greeted by Vladi and sat by the bar. Vladi made several great suggestions and we started with Nachos. They normally come with housemade chorizo which had too much of a kick for my wife so we substituted jackfruit and it didn't disappoint. Topped with fermented black beans, tumeric, queso fundido and sour cream. We added guac which put it over the top. Then Vladi recommended we share the Coconut Queso Quesadillas. Filled with Spinach, basil, serrano, king mushrooms, garlic, pico de gallo, sour cream
Both were soooooo delicious. Then Vladi gave us housemade churros with a dulce de leche dipping sauce. We were lucky to meet Koorash one of the owners and had a very pleasant chat. @jajajanyc is opening up a second, bigger location in the West Village sometime around May and we plan on being there when it opens. Although we didn't wait Vladi did tell us the wait can get quite long Friday night and the weekend but the food is really worth the wait. You won't be sorry!!

Food was pretty good but don't take your non-vegan friends who say "BEING VEGAN IS EXPENSIVE" here! I will give it another shot maybe the small burrito, which I could eat 2 if HUNGRY, was is not their best value.

Well this place is amazing I am not going to let my this review be affected by the attitude I received while resolving a small issue determine my review.
Read moreOver all from someone who is born and raised Southern California and knows what the heart of Mexican food taste like, this small gem here is the heart of Mexico on the east coast. The nachos are a must they were amazing, elote is spot on the, the pupusas are everything.
Management:::
I’d recommend to train your staff to resolve issues in a more quiet manner I heard the entire conversation. in a small place like this the entire room of customers can see and hear. Which can put a damper on this amazing experience
Pros: Great flavor , Atmosphere , Great dishes
Cons: Staff attitude in resolving an issue , Wait time
