We had a great ramen dinner here. Service was good, but very leisurely. The Fruit Sandwich dessert was skimpy. The photo in the menu showed two half sandwiches and said one piece - it was really only one piece, or half a sandwich..

I came here to waste a few hours until I got into my hotel. The staff were so lovely, found me a spot with a plug, and were just all-around lovely. The food was phenomenal- I had the maitake tempura, the garlic edamame, the chips with aoli, the Brooklyn bridge roll, the oinarisan roll, and a pot of the sobacha tea. It was so delicious- I came back 4hrs later to have the tonkotsu ramen for dinner!

Read moreReally loved Ippudo V! Ate dinner on a rainy Sunday night—it was practically empty possibly because of the time of day and also the rain (which made for perfect ramen weather). Super kind waitstaff!
I loved the Plan-ton Tonkutsu vegan ramen (just wish there were more toppings)! My friend ordered the Hakuna Matata Spicy Tsuke Men dish (carrot fettuccine noodles with broth, natto). Nato is not for the faint of heart, and certainly an acquired taste because of the fermentation flavor. But my friend really enjoyed it mixed in with the broth!
The Vrooklyn Gyoza was delicious! The best fake pork I’ve had (and I’m pretty picky about fake meats).
Loved this place! It was pricey though. And the other person’s reviews about potential concerns that some of dishes aren’t fully vegan is troubling, although I didn’t run into that upon my first visit to Ippudo V.
2025-11-10: UPDATE
A year later and Ippudo V is still great! I got my usual favorite, Pla-ton Tonkotsu ramen, which was amazing as ever! I ordered an extra side of noodles to make the broth last even longer.
I also tried another dish, Daichi No Miso ramen, for the first time. Added a side of Fried Tofu, which was very crispy. It was good and felt heartier than the Pla-ton Tonkotsu but it has a very pungent smell that was very meat-y, which I found off-putting. Probably wouldn’t order again. Although I will say the initial presentation of this dish had a somewhat dramatic feel, as the transparent cover had been infused with some smoke for extra aroma.
But delightful waitstaff and fast service as always!
2026-01-02: UPDATE
I introduced my friend to Ippudo V. We tried the Super Mario Bros roll, which was very tasty! She had tried the Daichi No Miso ramen and really enjoyed it as she is a fan of smoking, savory flavors.

My partner and I got the Brooklyn Bridge sushi roll, miso ramen and dragon tantan ramen. I liked the dragon tantan a lot more. The broth was very flavorful and the rye noodles were on the firmer side, which is how I prefer them, but I thought there would be more toppings. The ramen is mostly just broth and noodles, and doesn’t really feel like it’s worth the price.

We come here all the time! We absolutely love their ramen, plus incredible sushi and appetizers. If you go with a group, make sure someone gets the miso because it comes with a show.

This was some of the best Japanese food I’ve ever had, including in Japan! There were many Japanese people eating there when we were there. (Telling). Superior to anything vegan at industry city. We will def be back. Also super comfortable, great service, great selection.

It’s awesome having an all vegan ramen spot to check out. Our edamame and cucumber appetizer was delicious. We both got the tonkatsu ramen, which was super tasty. Ramen portions were rather small and the price was high, which is not surprising given the location. Would recommend!

Is it ethical to charge customers like $30 for a ramen? And to charge extra for SUPER basic things like nori? No, it is not even authentic. And yet I come again and again (and bike the 40 minute journey) because the ramen here is just THAT good. It’s obviously the broth mainly but this is the only place in nyc where I feel like the noodles are cooked just right. Sushi is also good and I’ve personally always enjoyed the desserts as well (although I think this is their weakest department).

Their manager is Japanese and speaks manager, can’t be more authentic than that lol… I was surprised that the manager actually speaks Japanese, Japanese has the highest and strictest restaurants working culture, with their services I really can’t complain, I guess I’m paying for the services and it’s worthy because a lot of places with same price I can’t even get good services

I had time with a different restaurants experiences , the server knows mandarin and I speaks mandarin to her and she rudely reply me back in English in front of all my European classmates, so we all decided not paying tips because no good services no tips that’s the dining culture in Europe my classmates told me, but that lady chase us out and suddenly start talking to me in mandarin that you guy didn’t pay tips , I was like …… aren’t you just pretend you don’t understand mandarin and respond me in English ?!?! Why suddenly can talk to me in mandarin now ?!?!?! So my European told her you were very rude to our friend and no services no tips

Ippudo has a lot of choice and the food is pretty tasty. I liked having so many options for sides. While it isn't the best ramen I've had, the restaurant is a good option in Brooklyn.

Went here with a group of six and it was great. I will say my Ramen was the least impressive part but the chocolate cake dessert was amazing, the sake was also so good-- as someone who isn't a big fan. For apps, the gyozas, Brussels sprouts, and corn was really good!!

I got sushi and ramen. For the sushi I got the Matilda with LEON - the fake tuna seemed to be marinated beet, which was pretty good. The rice seemed off though, not fully cooked. The ramen I got was the TOMA TAN TON - they only gave me three little tofu cubes😒so not filling - and the broth was not very flavorful, just salty (and I love salt) and the noodles mushy. The staff is nice and the location is beautiful. I was so excited to come but I will not be back.

Ippudo V is a wonderful place. Great vibes and great people. The food was tasty and interesting. Our only complaint is that the ramen was ridiculously salty and a bit oily. As someone who follows a whole food plant based diet, I do not use salt or oil in my cooking, so perhaps I am just very sensitive to it. All around a great experience, I just wish they had a no salt or low salt option.

They opened up vegetarian but have since become fully vegan from the appetizers, to the entrees, to the dessert! I encourage people to support them for listening to feedback and moving in the right direction.
Read moreAs for the food - the Tonkotsu ramen was delicious and I'm excited to try their other ramens in the future. I shared the vrooklyn gyoza and the chocolate mousse - also very good.
While the quality is great, the prices are quite a bit higher than what I normally pay for vegan ramen at other places in the city.
