Best ramen in Tokyo!! - Edit
I used to eat their ramen at their other locations when they had the vegan ramen as a limited menu. So happy they opened a separate store where we can have the vegan ramen all the time now!! And they extended their vegan menu! Always nice to have options!

Really delicious vegan ramen. There were options, and the gyoza were plant based too. It’s on the 8th floor of Shinjuku station. Great for a quick hearty bite. Meat options too

Great plant based ramen - Edit
This restaurant is on floor 8 of Lumine Est, accessed via the entrance of Shinjuku Station. It was hard to find, as the escalators only got to floor 7. From there, you have to either wait for the lift or find the staircase, which isn't clearly marked. You order and pay at the counter and are given a buzzer that vibrates when your food is ready. The menu is clearly marked with plant based choices, and the service was quick and efficient. The ramen was great, full of flavour and delicious. We had some really tasty vegan gyoza and washed it all down with a beer. It's probably the 2nd best ramen I have had in Japan so far.
Read moreThey serve meat ramen also, which pleased the meat eater our party.
The only downside is that it is brightly lit, more of a cafe/canteen experience with little atmosphere, but to be expected in a shopping mall.

Tasty Ramen! - Edit
We visited Tokyo for 3 days and found Ippudo through Happy Cow since it was close to our hotel. It’s in the 8th floor of a shopping mall in the very back of a cafeteria and it was delicious! They have 2 options and both were super yummy. Since it’s a cafeteria it can be pretty crowded so just keep that in mind.

New plant based concept store - Edit
Update summer 2023:
Read moreThe vegan menu seems to change for every season, best to stay updated on their latest vegan items on their IG account (linked in the happy cow listing). The newest addition to the vegan menu are really creative and delicious. Around 50-60 % of the menu is vegan, clearly labelled "plant based" on their menu.
Although this is not a vegan restaurant, their plant based studio has mostly vegan ramens on the menu (three of the main dishes), as well as vegan gyoza and vegan side dishes.
I wish they had a drink menu, but you do get free tea water on the side. Ramen is delicious and easy to order.

Only gyōzas - Edit
On the 8th floor food court of the mall. The plant-based ramen is in a fish-based broth (dashi), so if that's not your thing the only option is the gyōzas. Those were ok but not stellar.

It's a small menu, but half of it is vegan! It's located on the 8th floor of Lumine, if you don't speak Japanese look for 一風堂 in the building directory. I tried the vegan Shoyu ramen and am obsessed.

Nice selection of veganized ippudo classics. We had the Tonkotsu and gyoza and they were great. The „Chashu“ was too soft for my liking. Place is busy but worth a try!

One of my favorites in Japan - Edit
I had the plant based Akamaru and whew was it delicious! It was just the right amount of spicy and really creamy and garlicky. Be prepared for your breath to smell awful. My only complaint is that the “meat” is not really meaty at all and kind of just crumbled and dissolved in the soup. Doesn’t matter, the broth was that good. My meat-eating husband said mine was just as good as his.

Great ramen and gyoza in Shinjuku! - Edit
8F (8th floor) of the Lumine Est shopping mall, in the corner, next to Kua Aina burgers.
Read moreGot the Shiromaru ramen and 5 gyoza. The ingredients for the ramen were tasty and the broth was mellow. If you’re looking for a rich broth, get a different one -but was yummy! The gyoza were super-tasty and it’s so hard to find vegetarian gyoza in Japan, you may want to come just for those.
