Beautiful and Delicious Pastries - Edit
ID-Eclair is a plant-based French bakery in Pasadena with insanely good pastries. They also have savory items like quiche. Everything was so beautiful and creative. I hope this place does well because it is so special.

Impressive Variety and Quality! - Edit
The blueberry danish was heavenly and very generous in portion.
Read moreThe croissant, after air frying it, was amazing: flaky fluffy goodness.
The ham and cheese croissant was disappointing; it had a strange pink blob that looked to be a strawberry cream but tasted of ham and the cheese was just a few melted sprinkles of cheese on top. The chocolate croissant could've had more chocolate inside.
The macaroon had the taste and texture of a non-vegan macaroon. The chocolate one was so good.
The Dubai bite was disappointing as well. It didn't taste as good as it looked. I didn't bother finishing it.
I'd return to try the eclair, other sweets, and savory dishes.

didn't like - Edit
I'm a little bit shocked that this place wasn't a better experience for us. They certainly have a large selection of very impressive-looking pastries. Tried an eclair and a couple croissants. The eclair had a cold temperature and I didn't like the flavors much. The croissants were underwhelming. Weird! I'd go back and try other things, but they are a little out of the way for us.

Vegan French-style patisserie with so many delicious choices. My favorite savory items were the mushroom danish and ham and cheese croissant. For a sweet treat, I adore the Paris Brest, Napoleon, and fruit tarts. I hope one day I can try everything.

This place is superb! And I do not hand out high level complements frivolously. Though I’ve only tried the French Breast eclair, the ambiance and service was excellent. Let’s make this place successful for many years to come!

Wow Unbelievably Delicious! - Edit
This cute little bakery is is full of delicious morning pastries and eclairs. My favorite at the moment (because I’m hooked and go way too often now) is the apricot danish and the Suisse which is chocolate chips and custard, so flakey from the croissant dough. The classic chocolate eclair is unbelievable, there is a reason it’s a staple. The staff is all so friendly and welcoming. And I could believe them when I asked “is it all vegan?” And Emily responded “yes” repeatedly because I still couldn’t believe it after the 3rd time asking. They even have a Wine Bar on the other side which is also 100% vegan! What!?! I’ll be trying that one of these evenings, and I can’t wait!

I loved the design of the place and the Paris Brest eclair was delicious a good experience for my first time trying an eclair, the chocolate almond cross was filled with cookie dough and was nice and crunchy, the palmier incredible, nothing was too sweet and good hospitality they serve other packed vegan items and their beet bread was incredible and fluffy

The full French experience… - Edit
Just walk in to peruse the pastries and I dare you not to try something. Everything just looked amazingly delicious. I had the “Tea Time for Two” which comes with your choice of tea and a sampler of their pastries selected by the chef. Everything from the presentation to the taste was impeccable. Can’t recommend this place highly enough.

Gluten Free Options! - Edit
I love pastries and it isn’t always easy to find vegan pastries that are also gluten free, but this spot has options! There are several tarts and other gluten free pastries. Lots of non gluten free options as well. Such gorgeous desserts, and such a cute spot in general! I also loved the teas and salads, very realistic vegan bleu cheese! Can’t wait to come back and try everything else on the menu, I would highly recommend the mixed fruit tart.

I was recently in France and had a lot of lovely vegan pastries and croissants there. This definitely stands up to what I ate in Paris! And the espresso was served in a lovely cup and was delicious. I wish I were in pasadena more often to go here!

Amazing Vegan French Bakery by Michelin 3 Star Chef! - Edit
I never thought I'd see the day that we'd get a Vegan Viennoiserie in America. One of my favorite foods that I enjoyed when I was younger were the amazing pastries in France. French butter, perfectly flaky baked creations. I had given up on ever trying that again.
Read moreBut imagine my shock when a Vegan French Bakery opened up in Pasadena, by French-trained pastry chef Romuald Guiot, formerly of Three-Michelin-starred La Maison de Marc Veyrat! Wow.
Vegans (and those with dairy allergies) can now rejoice because ID-Eclair by chef Romuald Guiot is nothing short of AMAZING! Their classic plain croissant (get it when they release a new batch in the morning) tastes as good as a real, butter croissant, pretty close to some of the best I've had in Paris, except it's vegan! Flaky, crispy, it's total fire and delish!
They are known for their eclairs (it's in their name ID-Eclair). They have so many interesting flavors! And it rotates every week i think. The Millefeuille / Napolean, Paris Brest and their seasonal French Blackcurrant eclairs were totally fire and worth ordering! Great pastry shell that tastes like the real eclair shell (but with no dairy used), creamy filling.
Their mushroom danish was totally a must order as well. It tasted flaky, cheesy, full of umami, but again, it was dairy-free. Amazing.
In fact, all of their Danish Du Jour offerings (rotates each day) have been great so far! The tomato danish was also excellent. Make sure to ask them to warm it up for you if you eat it there!
Their Endive Salade with walnuts, pears, and vegan blue cheese (wut?!) tasted just like actual blue cheese! Totes crazy. And it was just a great salad even if you could eat dairy.
They have a wonderful selection of teas as well, the 7 Citrus Russian Tea (Lemon Lime, Sweet & Bitter Orange, Grapefruit, Bergamot and Mandarin) is my go to so far!😄
Can't wait to go back!
Pros: Top quality pastries that rival the best in LA, Wonderful selection that is 100% vegan!, Pleasant setting

Best bakery in the USA - Edit
I don’t say this lightly- these are the best croissants I’ve ever had. I can only compare this place to a French bakery I tried in Istanbul last year. The eclairs were beautiful and perfect, but my heart is full of croissants. The almond croissant was absolute heaven and the buttery croissant was lightly crispy on the outside and airy /fluffy inside. I flew here specially for the bakery and was not at all disappointed!

My new favorite bakery - Edit
ID-eclair in Old Town Pasadena is my new favorite bakery. Chef Romy makes the perfect croissants—buttery, flaky, soft and delicious. I also recommend the raspberry macarons, blueberry danish and cinnamon twist. The pastries are edible works of art, the coffee is great and the service is efficient and friendly. #Veganuary

Best Vegan Bakery in LA - Edit
I’ve tried a LOT of vegan pastries in my day but these are the best I’ve ever had. Top 3, if I must choose: cinnamon twist; fruit tart (it’s so hard to find vegan fruit tarts!); raspberry croissant. Also highly recommend the “dessert in a jar.” Lovely staff, too. Opens early, at a proper bakery time!
