They have pre-made sandwiches that they can toast for you or a selection of salads that you can mix and add a faux meat if you like. We tried three of the sandwiches, some salad, and a fried ‘chicken’ piece that all went down well. They custom made a smaller sandwich for my son as he couldn’t finish a standard one that he enjoyed.

We came to Exeter just to eat at How On Earth. I had the “Marry me chicken” pasty and my hubby had the Korean BBQ “SFC” focaccia sandwich with an extra side of “SFC chicken”. Both were incredible and we ended up leaving with more of the “SFC chicken”, “Lamb joint” & a brownie! We will definitely return.

How on Earth is an absolute diamond of a place! 100% vegan, independently owned deli, with gorgeous homemade food and lovely staff! It’s a staple for my work lunches and would recommend to anyone. My personal faves are their homemade seitan fried “chicken” and the loaded salads, as well as incredible matchas and sweet treats!

The best vegan sandwiches you will find - Edit
Second time visiting and had the vegan vegan focaccia sandwiches that I’ve ever had, made with their homemade vegan meats. Went with my parents who are not vegan and they also loved them. The staff were super helpful and talked us through everything. They also have some vegan cheeses to buy and a few other things like nut butters. They have matcha available too.

We bought a few of the sliced seitans and some blue cheese (Brixton Blue from La Fauxmagerie) to take away with us too and they were lovely.

Was difficult to decide what to actually get, as it all looked so amazing. The bacon is absolutely incredible, and next time I am near, I will absolutely be picking more up. Well priced for what you're getting, and would definitely recommend checking it out; it is absolutely worth a detour.

Delicious food mainly produced on site. Best vegan bacon I’ve ever consumed. Family run by personable and passionate team giving it a welcoming atmosphere. Ate in sharing different focaccia; so impressed also bought in house seitans on deli counter to take away (lots of the bacon) to enjoy the deliciousness at home

Honestly AMAZING. Had the sandwiches in focaccia, 1x a prosciutto and pesto and 1x a katsu fried chicken. Thought I might be disappointed by the prosciutto and wished got 2x katsu but OMG they were BOTH incredible. You HAVE HAVE HAVE to visit!!!!!

This place is great and would really recommend if you're in Exeter! They have sandwiches, baked goods and salads. They do sell out of things as the day goes on so be prepared to not have everything available. Downside is they don't have a lot of drink options, only really tea and iced matchas on Friday I think. I preferred the buffalo chicken sandwich over the pepperoni but liked the number of options to choose from. The salads were also delicious.
