Limited but tasty vegan options - Edit
Been there on a Sunday in March, early afternoon, almost empty. Friendly staff.
Read moreVegan options on the menu are hidden under the section "Wellness" . I had "9" and "Tofu". Both were good but quite small for a hungry tummy. Please note that black lentils in "9" come with a sprinkle of grated cheese, so yo need to remind the waiter. Ocassionally they offer a vegan dessert. I had "strawberry sorbet with camomille", which was also good.

Vegan menu does exist! - Edit
My work took me here and it was the best food I've had in Croatia, after the Botanist! Delicious veggie forward dishes with complex amazing flavors. Ex. The main was a curry, but it was light and not what you'd expect from curry, I'd get notes of fresh rosemary with one might and hints of ginger with the next - spectacular and highly recommend. I had the 5 course vegan meal for 45euro

It used to be better - Edit
Chef Mislav really cares about vegan customers, always want to prepare something special, so if you stay for couple or more days you won't be bored with usual hotel food (2021, October).
Read moreI visited again the restaurant this year (2022) and unfortunately found out there are no vegan options in the a la carte menu anymore. The chef prepared the food anyway and it was ok but is obviously that we cannot say they are vegan friendly hotel. Breakfast had nothing vegan eventhough i specify the vegan food when i reserved hotel. They prepared vegan dinner, it was ok, but everyday for the desert i got sorbet and fruit when other guests get 3 different deserts, cakes and other goodies. Obviously there is not enough demand for vegan food and they minimized the vegan options.

Great vegan options - Edit
We stayed in Villa Magdalena for 3 nights with full board (buffet breakfast, 2-course lunch, and 5-course dinner). Although the usual hotel menu is not vegan, we asked for one, and it was not a problem. On the contrary - we felt they've put a lot of thoughtfulness and attention to it. We received a menu for every meal beforehand to see if we wanted to change anything in it (we didn't), and everything was creative and delicious. Also, it seemed that everything (except tofu) was made from scratch using local produce, which we very much appreciated. Buffet breakfast included oats, cereals, fresh and canned fruit, grilled vegetables, different jams, plant milks, etc. Waiters were very attentive and warned us which bread contains milk and which is vegan. They also offered to prepare us something additional, such as oatmeal, vegan pancakes, etc. All in all, we were very pleasantly surprised both with the service and the food itself. Would definitely recommend and hope to come again :)
