A vegan gem in the middle of a vegan desert called the North Yorkshire Moors! - Edit
Travelling in our motorhome - Florence - around the North Yorkshire Moors, we quickly established there was little in the way nice vegan produce other fresh fruit and veg. Stumbling upon the Horseshoe Hotel we checked out its farm shop - what a delight.
Read moreDon't expect this place to be totally vegan as it's simply not - its a traditional farm shop in rural England, but it does have a really nice selection of readymade vegan meals and vegan produce to buy.
In the fridge you'll find Ruby's readymade vegan meals for 1 person or 2. Among them is Dan Dan Aubergine and Peanut Noodles, Cauliflower Korma, Teriyaki Noodles, Roasted Butternut Squash and Spinach Dahl. There good line in vegan chocolates made by Dirty Cow, a whole load of preserves and pickles with a good selection of fresh bread (get in early if you want a choice) and biscuits. There's not a lot of choice at the deli counter or in the cakes and found this dissapointing. But they do have a lot of local spirits, beer and cider though.
All in all, it was nice to stock up Florence with some nice choices for lunch and treats the evening. The pickled walnuts spread over their olive bread was amazing especially when it was washed down with Yorkshire rhubarb gin.
They also have a nice tea garden at the back of the shop for drinks with what you’ve purchased.
Would we go back - Yes. Would we recommend - yes.
If the owner is reading this, lets have some cakes and deli choices for vegans please?

Pros: A reasonable selection of higher market farm foods, Nice ready meals and breads, Good drinks selection
Cons: Nothing for vegans at the deli counter, No real vegan cakes either, Not cheap (but worth it)
