A health food market that's open to the public, with paid/working membership options for discounts. Open Mon-Fri 8:00am-7:00pm, Sat 9:00am-7:00pm, Sun 9:00am-6:00pm.
I generally just fill up my bulk spices / dry goods here. In general it's friendly but they don't have a great selection of VGF products to do my full weeks shopping.
I go to fill bulk and then maybe grab a few items.
Stopped here to pick something up for our ride home. They only had one vegan sandwich available. Some sandwiches had veganaise or Daiya but had meat slices. If I lived closer I’d probably shop here but It’s not great for a quick grab and go lunch.
I find they have a good vegetable and fruit section and like their efforts to stock local produce, labeling things in their displays. Most of the produce items look wonderful. They have had items I could not find anywhere else, including non-alkalized baking cocoa powder. This product is great for its micronutrients and has no sugar. They also have a big fair-trade brand that is alkalized. The store does have somewhat narrow aisles. Along with a small produce section, the store has a lot of bulk bins; great coffee; some prepared, packaged items, including soups and salads; bulk household soaps, etc.; personal care and hygiene items, etc..; and some nutritional supplements. They do carry some meat and dairy products. As a co-op, they tend to be at least somewhat consumer oriented. Conflict of interest notice: I have to mention I am a member myself. Active members get a 10-percent discount, and if you worked 3 hours last month you are considered "active." If you miss a month's work hours, you get a smaller discount the following month. If you live elsewhere, this store is worth a fairly long drive, especially if you are interested in a visit to the nearby Woodstock Farm Sanctuary.
Great little local store to get staples with a huge selection of bulk herbs, spice, teas and staples. Prices are a bit high, but I imagine not buying in large quantities and offering a discount to co-op volunteers drive that.
Smaller, local market has most basic foods covered: breads, produce, bulk items (nuts, legumes, seeds, candy, herbs and spices), frozen, dairy, canned, vitamins and cosmetics, even some meat. Just a more limited selection, narrower aisles, poorer lighting than stores in Kingston, Woodstock or Rhinebeck. The staff is pleasant and friendly, but inefficient and disorganized--stocking fresh lunch items in the mid afternoon. If you live nearby, can be good for grabbing a needed recipe item, but not for a major shopping because of fewer options. Still, it's nice to have them there if you live close to Rt. 209 or are driving by Rosendale, Stone Ridge, High Falls.
