Good food with a few vegan options

It is an appropriately named restaurant - a really cute hideaway nestled very close to the beach. We loved the beet dip and the salad, which we veganized by leaving off the aoli sauce. It was tasty, but again, we had to leave off ingredients without a suitable replacement. Fries were tasty as well. The blue tubby and hibiscus drinks were really good with a nice amount of booze. It would be nice if they had a couple more vegan hot dishes, maybe falafel or a bean dish. We also ordered the happy hour soft tacos with portobello. Soft tacos just aren't really my thing, but they satiated my hunger.

I was curious about the bean burger, but not enough to ask if it used eggs as a binder.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Service was very fast. It was happy hour which ends at 5, so it wasn't too busy as the dinner crowd hadn't arrived yet.

Pros: Staff and Fast Service, Food and Drinks , Happy Hour

Cons: Could be a replacement for non-vegan ingredients. , A couple more vegan dishes would be nice.

Delicious vegan options on the beach

Normally, I feel like restaurants that are literally on the boardwalk should typically be avoided because they tend to be overpriced, unhealthy and usually not vegan friendly. Well, Heidaway is a true diamond in the rough. This scratch kitchen uses ingredients from local farms. The Pacifico bowl was outstanding!!! I’d eat that everyday.

Pros: Farm to table ingredients , A few really good vegan options , Vegan entrees under $20

Cons: Not clear labeling , Could add some more options

Vacation Lunch

Saw this place on the app and tried it out while on our family vacation. Had the 2 beet dips with chips, radish and cucumber to dip with. Red beet dip, sweet and lightly spicy, the golden beet dip was spicy and full of flavor. Also had the potato and cauliflower flash fried nuggets with nut dusting and two amazing sauces. Drink selection was really good too.

Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable staff , Located on the beach with beautiful views

Really good pasta

Definitely NOT “clearly labeled vegan option.” There are things marked “V” that are vegetarian, not vegan. And some things not marked “V” that are or can be adapted. That being said, the veggie bow tie pasta was really good, as was the beet dip. Great staff experience too.

Pros: Great food

Cons: Labeling mess

Nice place for our family.

We had veggie burgers that had great flavor and were quite fresh. The beat dip was a huge hit with my kids. They also had the kids pasta with marinara and were quite pleased. Server was great.

Pros: Good vegan options , Accommodating , Fresh and flavorful

Cons: Front hostess was a bit rude to everyone.

Rosemary ketchup!!!!!

Cute restaurant right near the beach. Veggie burger was delicious, however it was the only labeled vegan option. I think there was more they just were not labeled properly. Rosemary ketchup was unique & very tasty.

Cons: Menu was not clear on vegan options

It’s ok

They have a few vegan options. I was disappointed they couldn’t make a vegan taco with choices of tacos they have. I thought the food was good, didn’t find it to oily. It’s a nice option.

Sister date night

Went here with my sister and was pleasantly surprised. We got an appetizer beet dip. It came with 2 dips and a side of cucumbers, radishes and tortilla chips to dip. Lots of options on the platter. For an entree, I got a veggie pasta. It was a white creamy sauce, definitely had nooch in it. It was filled with lots of delicious veggies and I ate the whole thing

Pros: Some vegan options, Variety, Flavorful

Cons: Not clearly labeled, had to ask , Could have a few more choices

Food was not edible

Although their menu advertised a vegan burger, we were told it’s actually switched to a portobello mushroom burger. The server was nice, but the food wasn’t good. Would not recommend

A moment of excitement

Came across this place and ordered the sweet potato bowl, the food came out mushy oily and flavorless.

The girl taking my payment was on the phone the entire time and talking to her friend instead of addressing us fully.

Overall pretty disappointing and expensive for what I received.

This is my first negative experience review

Pros: Many vegan options

Cons: Expensive , Flavorless , Mush

Good vegan options

I ordered the mac and cheese. It was very good, cauliflower, broccoli and mushroom mixed in it. Sauce was tasty, large portion. Hubby got tacos and fries. Tacos had too much broccoli for his liking, boo hoo right? And he had the blueberry cake which was very good as well!

Pros: Good vegan options, Dessert!

Cons: Pricey

Looked promising

I was really excited to try this place because the menu has so many vegan options listed but we ended up being pretty disappointed with everything. Tried the Vegan Mac and cheese bake and some appetizers/starter salads. Our waiter was really nice and the atmosphere is cute but the food was not executed well.

Pros: Location and atmosphere , Good service

Cons: Food wasn’t great , Expensive

Food options and cocktails

This place got a new head chef as of the 2020 season and the menu has improved vastly. I got the new vegan mac n cheese and it's oustanding, though a tad pricey. They also have veggie tacos you can veganize by asking for no aioli. They were very tasty, though the rice was a little on the salty side. The cocktails here are excellent and some of the best in Bethany in my opinion. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable.

Pros: food choices, cocktails

Cons: open layout, food can be inconsistent

Not as expected

We ordered appetizers including a trio of dips along with a complementary dish of radish and pesto which was very good. Also got a mojito special which was great. When we ordered our meals, I ordered the kale salad (which was drenched in dressing and brown avocado) and the veggie burger. The veggie burger was noted in the menu to be able to be made vegan. When the food came out the burger came out without a bun. When asked why without, the serving stated it wasn’t vegan. I was not notified that it would come without a bun or given another option otherwise. The burger itself was completely soft and inedible.

Pros: Great drinks, Vegan options

Cons: Expensive, Vegan options not executed well

They tried but very oily, really loud and lots of flies. Decor is nice!

Being vegan, I appreciated all of the options and for Bethany finally having a more healthful restaurant. We went as a large family party and everyone’s meal was so so - lots of oil in many dishes, ridiculously loud and no noise absorption. Some loud, cackling and drunk people at the bar were so annoying, we honestly could not hear each other at the table. Flies were an issue too. The decor is wonderful, staff was friendly but the food needs work. When we asked if there were vegan desserts, our server looked confused, went to a fridge/freezer and rummaged around before letting us know that they had some frozen cookies. I’m curious why a restaurant with so many vegan options wouldn’t also have desserts. No problem, Maureen’s now has dairy free ice cream!

Pros: Vegan options, GF and vegan clearly labeled, Cool decor

Cons: Oily food, LOUD, flies, No vegan desserts
