A very upscale atmosphere and a little spendy but well worth it. 1st time here and had a delightful culinary journey through various tastes and flavors and all were delicious and fresh. A perfect date night place. We will be back!

Best French Toast Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Edit
I've been dreaming about their French Toast since I had a bite of it when visiting Portland several weeks ago. Great menu, really friendly staff (the woman I ordered from at the counter remembered my name when I ordered something else later on).

Great brunch - Edit
Delicious vegan brunch! They seated us immediately. My husband had the deep dish French toast with roasted walnuts and I had the Benedict with seitan, asparagus and greens. It was hard to choose what to order (everything looked good- next time I'll want the rancheros). The food had a beautiful presentation and tasted divine. I think any omnivore would enjoy this food as well. The service was excellent. It was $15 each for the meals- so spendy but worth the cost. The orange juice wasn't fresh squeezed, so we'll skip it next time. But this is a spot we'll come back to.

upscale but friendly - Edit
Has some unusual dishes well beyond the typical vegan imitation sandwiches. The downside is that it may be difficult to choose. The space makes for a nice romantic atmosphere perfect for a date. Reservations are recommended.

creative, plant-based cuisine - Edit
Eating here is a culinary adventure. The choices are beyond the usual vegan fare. While not inexpensive, the attention to detail, generous portions, interesting and flavorful dishes make this well worth it. The outside is understated, but inside the ambiance is comfortable, spacious and you can actually talk to the people with whom you are eating! I suggest getting one of the corner booths if you are four or more as the tables are big. The staff are extremely accommodating and friendly, parking was right around the corner from the entry. Harvest Gratin, Harvest vegetable barbecue, Moroccan soup, potato cakes, cake and cheesecake - all delicious. Good coffee too.

Best in PDX - Edit
Over the last few months Harvest is become my favorite restaurant. The food has caught up with the perfect atmosphere, and it feels like the first grown up vegan restaurant in the area. They continually change up their menu and always come up with new and exciting dishes that never disappoint. The owner and staff have created a special atmosphere - it always looks gorgeous, the noise level is just right and everyone is super friendly. It's the vegan restaurant you've always wanted but never thought you'd get. Oh - and their weekend brunch is the best! Check out Harvest - there's no place like it.

bad awkward service. - Edit
My boyfriend and I came at 8pm on a Tuesday night. There were only 4 other tables, yet the host was sweaty, running around busy doing a million things. This place is just improperly staffed. We got a bad vibe when we got there. After being there for 20 minutes, we ended up just leaving before we ordered drinks or food.

A part of me died and went to Heaven! - Edit
My omni friend and I decided on Brunch today at Harvest at the Bindery. I've never been here before and was nervous that it would not be up to par with non vegan food. Let me tell you we were both in Food Heaven at the first bite of their French Toast. I mean the sounds we made during this decadent moment might make you think we were shooting an Herbal Essences commercial live. Hahaha! This was by far the best French toast I've ever had in my life....EVER!!!! It was incredibly worth the price.

Excellent all around - Edit
I'm glad to report that my high expectations based on the stellar reviews were more than met. Food was phenomenal. Service was casual but warm and friendly. The dining area is spacious with the tables nicely spaced. I really liked that most dishes were available in small (as in appetizer) or large (entrée) portion sizes, which means you can sample a bunch of different things in one sitting turning it into a tapas kind of fare. It does boggle the mind why more restaurants aren't doing this already.
Read moreThe food is designed to be not too fancy or complicated, but rather more rustic and down-to-earth. Yet everything we tried was well prepared and packed with flavor. The complimentary cornbread set our evening off to a great start. We then enjoyed the roasted carrots, the rosemary potato cake, the pulled trumpet mushroom, and the whole grain spaetzle. All plates were cleaned. While there was no way we could pass up dessert, we were a bit bummed that they had just run out of their chocolate hazelnut pie. We went ahead with the only other option—an apple cobbler topped with coconut whipped cream. And boy was it scrumptious! Talk about a blessing in disguise.
Sure, this place isn't cheap, but it's not expensive either. I thought the value was right considering they source their ingredients as organic and local as possible. I'm definitely coming back.
Pros: delicious food, most items available in small portions, good value

Outstanding - Edit
My husband and I have eaten at Harvest every week since we discovered it last month. It is absolutely outstanding. The beauty is they use vegetables in season and don't try to make them replicate a meat dish. They let them shine on their own. We have taken many non-Vegan friends and family here and they all love it. Be sure to try the complimentary cornbread. It is the best I've ever had. The brunch is also outstanding.

Gourmet vegan experience - Edit
Based on the HappyCow reviews I had to try Harvest as The Bindery and I am happy to say I was not disappointed. Both the food and service were fabulous. This is a first rate upscale gourmet vegan restaurant (but not stuffy or overdressed -- this is Portland after all). Not cheap, but not expensive given the quality of the food and the service/atmosphere. Great for a special occasion or your first vegan date. Also has an extensive wine selection.
Read moreNote: do not be put off by the slightly seedy surroundings (it is in the Hollywood district of Portland, right down the street from a couple of adult "toy" stores and marijuana dispensaries). This is a very nice restaurant with an upscale atmosphere. I have no doubt it is in the vanguard of a wave of gentrification that will soon wash over the entire area (there are actually some very pleasant-looking residential neighborhoods quite near by).

Continually Impressed - Edit
The first time I went was for a friend's birthday. I didn't get too excited about the menu. It just wasn't what I was in the mood for. I got soup (which was meh) and a potato cake with a turnip cream and I think it had greens? More things, I'm sure. And I split the sweet corn cake with coconut whipped cream and fresh warm blueberries. Sh*t, that was excellent. Excellent.
Read moreThen I took my dad there and we each had a salad, both great. And then we split a Pulled Trumpet Mushroom BBQ platter. Wow, y'all. Wow.
I went back for brunch a few weeks later and split the Broiled Fruit French Toast (they use Little T bread!) and the Hash Brown Caserole.
Dang. A+.

Cons: Street parking, but ok, Small for the popularity it will bring

Best meal on trip - Edit
My partner and I have been trying to go to as many vegan restaurants as possible on our trip to Seattle and Portland. We haven't finished our journey yet but have had the best meal yet here. We started with the broiled kale and Portland bake beans which were both flavorful and a perfect combination. We were surprised with a complimentary slice of cornbread, with a dollop of herbed vegan butter. Do good. Everything tasted like it belonged together. For our main courses we had the Trumpet mushroom bbq, the very best item we had last night, and the tamales. Our total was only $41 for this amazing, fresh food. The waitress was knowledgeable, warm, and even gave us recommendations of where to do breakfast the next day. One day soon she said they will be serving breakfast themselves.
