Green Vegetarian Cuisine, its OK

Visited this vegetarian Restaurant with American Cuisine for the first time on Sep 5, 2017 during the gas shortage in Texas because of the Houston Hurricane. Food was OK, but I prob wont go back, they were polite, but disinterested in my order. It was not real busy, and the taste was only OK, food was all room temp, the fries were not very good

http://whatdoyoueatthen.com/green-vegetarian-cuisine-san-antonio-tx/

Pros: veg food , polite staff

Cons: more interested in talking to each other, food cold, even fries, flavor lacking

Bottom of list for SA vegan food

Green is okay but it’s one of the last places I would go to get vegan food in San Antonio.
It all just tastes like stuff you can make at home but you’re paying way more for it.
If anything, breakfast is your best bet here.
Owners are reported to be sexist, racist, and give vegans vegetarian food so eat here at your own risk.
I’ve lived in SA and have been here about 6 times. It never seems to get any better but just more expensive.
Food isn’t bad just not anything to write home about.
Inside is clean and it’s located in a cute area.

Friendly staff and clean inside

This restaurant has a cute decor on the inside and the staff is friendly. Over the course of two days we had a number of items and overall it was just okay. The ideas are nice and some of the flavors are bold, but a lot of the stuff is too salty! I will say that the jalapeño burger and protein salad was pretty solid. Everything else was okay but too salty. Probably won’t go back.

Flavorful

There’s a nice selection of flavors and textures. I love spicy food and spices beyond salt/pepper. They do a good job of seasoning their dishes.

Don’t care for their burgers but I have plenty of other choices here.

Their desserts are great too!

Pros: All non breakfast menu items can be vegan

Better than Houston

Service was great! Way better than Houston. Food was good except I think they played with cheese around mine. I’m allergic and we had to emergency stop after we left because it made me sick. Fried pickles were fun! Nasty burger was regular. Nothing nasty but the dairy that may have touched it.

Pros: Good selection, Fruit, Fried pickles

Cons: Dairy

Love, love this place!

I have brought non-vegans here and they love it too. They can get dairy cheese and I can get vegan. My favorite appetizer is the fried pickles. I have had burgers and chick’n fried chick’n. I love the Mexican options too. I was sad they did away with they’re portobello steak and enchiladas. I have also always had great service. Even with the pickiest of my friends.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Tasty desserts , Variety of food

Culinary must!

One of my favorite restaurants in town, for the staff, many delicious options and delightful staff. Can’t get enough of their desserts, even was able to get cupcakes catered for my sisters wedding.

Pros: Bunch of delicious options and food events., Wide variety of tasty desserts., Positive atmosphere including staff. Pet friendly

The OG of vegos in SA

The service is always great at this location. Though they aren't 100% vegan, everything can be made vegan. They are on Favor if you're looking for delivery.

Pros: Huge menu

Cons: Small space and often have to wait

Delicious food, great vibe, decadent desserts

I love this restaurant and the delicious food they offer. My favorite dishes are the cauli wings, nachos, beef burrito, pizza, and Parmesan chik’n. The desserts are fantastic, especially their brownies. They offer a lot of savory options and satisfy all my junk food cravings, but they also have healthier options when I feel like having a light dinner.

Pros: So many great vegan options , Dessert is fantastic, Staff is kind and helpful

Wildly unimpressive San Antonio insitution

Green is to vegan food what Riverwalk restaurants are to Mexican food. Cool atmosphere, high prices, semi-decent quality, all without decent customer service.

I first ate at the Houston location. Very very different restaurants. The food here is ok, but nothing that you want to call home about. Good variety and a great place to take omnis or people that are new to being vegan.

My biggest gripe isn't the semi-decent food at really high-quality prices, it's the pretty consistent lack of service. I've never got what I'd call really good service. It's like they're resting on their laurels of being one of the oldest and most well know vegan places in town.

The deserts are nice but are way overly sweet. The nachos themselves are really good but the cheese seems like an afterthought. The fried chicken is good as is the gravy.

We got Thanksgiving dinner from them last year and it was so bad that was the last time we went.

Don't get me wrong, the food is ok but with other options, this is a pass.

Pros: variety, omni friendly

Cons: overpriced, bad service

Amazing comfort food

I love this place so much! We always eat on the patio. I recommend the fried pickles and burgers. Dipping sauces are so good. Cant wait to try more of their menu. Service is great. We are new to san antonio and this is our favorite spot so far!

best all around vegetarian/vegan restaurant in SA

The family that runs these two Green restaurants as well as Earth Burger and Bok Choy know their stuff!! At Green in particular, you can get just about any kind of dish made vegetarian/vegan. They have mexican foods, american comfort foods, super healthy salads, asian style items, you name it! I love coming to this one in particular because it's not as busy as their Pearl location. Everything here is vegetarian and you can ask for vegan cheese in place of dairy to make meals vegan. They also serve eggs with breakfast but you can swap it for tofu.

Pros: lots of different kinds of foods, super nice staff, great cupcakes and desserts

Cons: a little pricey

my FAVORITE

I drag my family here all the time, and even the carnivores love it. Lots of options, the fried pickles and vegan ranch dip are my favorite. Love the grilled cheese w/ sweet potato fries as well. The desserts are great too. The staff is always friendly, and they have deals on groupon all the time.

Best vegetarian spot in SA!

Pros: groupon deals, good food, options, carnivores like it too

Cons: out of the way

5/5

Menu is diverse, vegan and gluten-free friendly, and kosher!!! Indoor and outdoor seating. BYOB!!! ($5 corking fee, liquor store is a 1 min walk away). Prices are very reasonable ($2-3 per delicious side). I had the nasty burger (no cheese).

Pros: inexpensive

only okay!

I had high hope for this place as so much to choose from on the menu that were vegan! We ordered the cauliflower hot wings which tasted good but disappointedly were not crispy, the poblano ranch on the side was amazing! The big nasty burger was only okay. It was cold and was missing the fakin bacon which I noticed when I was nearly finished eating it! We also ordered the chicken fried chik-n. It comes with herbed mash, kale salad and mushroom gravy. We didn't like any of that meal as the seasonings did not go well together. We got two desserts a cheesecake cupcake(okay) and a smores caramel bar which was amazing! Overall it was an okay experience.

Pros: large menu, vegan options

Cons: flavours didn't go well together

Good food, desserts ok

We've been here several times. The food is good. The burger is not great and kind of dry. Really like the green enchiladas. The desserts are hit and miss. They use to be great but lately seem box made or just not as good. Miss the previous desserts of chocolate cupcake with chocolate truffle inside topped with strawberry icing and a strawberry. That dessert was awesome.... and needs to come back.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Cozy place, friendly staff

Cons: Desserts are lacking

Great Vegetarian Restaurant

We've been there a number of times. Good food, reasonable prices, and a nice bright atmosphere. We had the green burger with side salads. It was a little messy trying to eat the burger, but it was really good. The Monk's bowl is great too. Just be prepared to wait if you go a lunch time on the weekend. The only complaint I have about this restaurant is they do not seem to use rennetless cheese. At least we were never able to get a clear answer on that point, but they offer vegan cheese as substitutes on all their menu items.

If you order the nacho appetizer, be forewarned the portion is huge. Next time I'll ask for a half portion if that's available.

Pros: It's vegetarian, Reasonably priced, Everything we've tried is tasty

Cons: Cheese isn't all animal rennet free.

Good place to eat for vegans

This place is close to our home. We like its menu, and even more that there are several options for vegans. The cupcakes are delicious, vegan, and with some gluten free options. I only wish they offer a larger variety of vegan and gluten free cupcakes, but we really like this place and we do recommend it.Enjoy!

Pros: Vegan options, Gluten free options, Delicious menu AND cupcakes

Great place for Casual dinning

I have actually eaten at both of the Green locations in San Antonio and they both serve excellent food. The atmosphere is casual. The staff is very helpful and freindly. The Green is my go to place when my family and I want to head out and have a worry free meal. I have tried over half of the items on the menu and honestly have not had a dish that I did not completely enjoy. I always look for cleanliness when I am at a restaurant and these two location are always very clean. I have taken my meat eating coworkers and they always find something on the menu that they enjoy too. If you haven’t tried it, please do. You will like it.

Pros: Enjoy the food every time, Freindly Staff, Serving Size

Cons: I wish there were more Green's
