Friendly staff & Delicious food - Edit
Our waiter gave us great recommendations. We enjoyed the Siamese dream curry and the spareribs. I also enjoyed a soy milk Thai iced tea.

We were sooooo happy to visit the wonderful people at the Green Elephant in Portland Maine today. We ordered appetizers brussel sprouts, and vegetable dumplings… fantastic. So flavorful and delicious. Then our entrees arrived, pad Thai (made without egg) and the tofu and vegetables with brown rice. Everything I have ever ordered here has been perfection and this meal was no exception! Then we shared the sorbet trio with fresh berries for dessert… AMAZING!

When a "Special" isn't very special at all ... - Edit
Visited Saturday last. We ordered from the specials board, some impressive-sounding Thai name, a noodle dish, for about $19.
Read moreIt didn't arrive for ages, and when it did, it was a huge bowl of coconut milk with a tiny, tiny, I mean really tiny, amount of noodles blobbing around the bottom, and almost nothing else.
Luckily the specials board was right over my head, so we were able to play a fun game of "find the ingredients" as we fished about hopefully in a bucket of sauce, looking for something to eat.
Clearly the kitchen had begun running out of ingredients (it was 8.45 and the place was emptying out), but rather than tell us, they obviously decided to 'chance it' by giving us a half-measure of noodles, doused in milky slop.
I would have sent it back, but we were under pressure for time, and we had to eat, so that was that.
Besides, certain members of staff appeared to be going through a rough patch, so we figured we'd eat what we were handed and get out of there.
All in all, a very disappointing experience.
The Tofu Green Curry was adequate, no more or less.
Pros: nice room, well furnished, might be nice, on a good night
Cons: very small helpings, slow service, not good value

my family and i had the most delicious food of our trip at the green elephant. i are everything vegan but my parents added egg and were very happy with their meals. we also got this delicious chocolate orange cake that my sister cousin and i ate in two seconds.

Consistently my favorite restaurant ever! Everything on the menu can be made vegan. And everything on the menu is delicious. Even non-veg people love it! It is reservation only to eat in, but reservations can ge made easily online!

Tons of vegan options and very popular, but I just don’t love it. I’ve gotten takeout several times. The food is okay, but nothing special, and quite expensive for what you get. One standout item is the chocolate orange mousse pie for dessert - delicious!

Came here for lunch on a Saturday and had to wait 30 minutes to get a table, which turned out to be well worth it. The food was absolutely delicious. We especially enjoyed the mushroom tempura and would highly recommend them!

My non-veg hubby and I had a delicious dinner. The dumplings were great, and the asparagus salad was superb. My fried chikN stir fry was so good. And dessert was my favorite, chocolate mousse pie 🤎. All vegan 🌱! Mmmmm can’t wait to go back.

I have been eating at Green Elephant for more than 5 years now, and I have never had a bad meal there. The menu is full of delicious choices - the food is always amazing, and the service is always great. Hot & Sour Noodle Soup, Pad Thai, and Peanut Curry are favs. All the apps and desserts are really good too - we've tried them all!

I have been coming here for years. They do such a good job of rotating menu items and always having awesome vegan options on the daily specials menu. My go-to’s are the curry noodle soup, the vegan beef and broccoli, and the panang curry. I’m never disappointed with the taste and the portions. Only wish it was all vegan!
