Long-established whole food shop - Edit
This place has been a fixture on Newland Ave for years with a great range of veg and vegan products, cruelty free eco cleaning materials and toiletries. It’s up for sale as a going concern so let’s hope it continues.

Owner is singling me out for some reason? - Edit
I've been here a few times over the past couple of years and every single time, the lady who runs the place walks away for a couple of minutes when I go to pay for the items I want to buy, and when she returns, she refuses to speak even a single word to me when she's entirely friendly and polite to literally everyone else who comes in. My nan has never had this experience and until recently she used to have a bit of a natter with the lady. But recently my nan came in with me one time and ever since, the lady who runs the place stopped talking to my nan entirely as well when she shops here. I have no clue what I have done to be treated like this and also get my nan disregarded in the same way but it's extremely disheartening because this shop is the only place nearby where I can buy a good selection of foods that fit the dietary restrictions I have for health reasons.

Grain is the mothership - Edit
I've been visiting Grain for 20years (remember the purple decor). Vegan cheese, milk, frozen pizzas etc. Also a good range of vegan supplements. Refillable station for shampoo, deodorant, and laundry detergent. Be careful as some items are vegetarian, but the staff are always helpful. Amazing shop that

Awesome shop, tons of Vegan products and the staff are all ace and will take requests (and they got One Planet Pizza in; 12 years without frozen pizza and it's good stuff).

I went here about a week ago and there really is a fantastic selection for vegans, much better than other small health food stores. As a student I can appreciate the variety of tinned products and soups and the fact that it's all reasonably priced. Definitely recommend checking it out!

My permanent home address is in the locality and I have been a happy customer of Grain for many years. It has recently undergone a refurbishment, which has only enhanced its charm. It now has a modern appearance for its forward thinking, healthy principles. A wide range of vegetarian and vegan food awaits you inside...tofu, vegan pies, pasties, vegan icecream, mayonnaise, freshly baked bread, locally sourced organic salad ingredients, fruit teas, dried pulses, vegan soups, soy burger mix...also think they have organic shampoos and conditioners and women's products. It's a little gem of a shop! A haven for veggies, vegans and those wanting to follow a nutritious and organic diet! :)))

Found this place by accident whilst looking for Zoo vegetarian cafe which is just over the road down a back lane. A well packed and stocked vegetarian and vegan food store selling a good range of fake meats, vegan cheeses, teas, vitamins, beauty products, toiletries , tinned foods and deli products. A little out of the city centre but in a great part of town with a lot of independent retailers and decent bars and cafes.
