Wonderful surprise of multiple savory dishes

Classic places like this never have anything vegan, so we always skip them -- until I saw the GWI show up here on Happy Cow and checked out the menu, what??? We were delighted to be able to stop in and dine in the cozy inviting tavern area with a real fireplace. If I lived in the area, I would visit the tavern a lot. It seems to be a Cheers, with regulars and staff interacting happily.

Drink deals are nice at happy hour, and we found the prices reasonable for a fancier place. We split the mushroom flatbread appetizer and loved the savory seitan carbonara and risotto dishes. We also took leftovers home. It was less than $100 which is honestly not that common for fine dining these days.

I am so curious about the B&B suites upstairs. It would be fun to stay here and check out the grounds. There are many spaces and rooms to the GWI, heavily used for wedding parties and events. We enjoyed the friendly knowledgeable service, and they take your coats for you and store them somewhere warm on a cold day. :-)

Upscale Vegan Options

When in the area, we have visited several times. Each time their menu offered upscale and elevated vegan appetizers, entrees, and desserts. There have typically been two of each to choose from and all have been excellent. When celebrating something special, we enjoy visiting.

This last time, we had the Pistachio Hummus, Mediterranean Toast, Vegan Carnitas Bowl, and the Vegan Rougail Saucisse.
