I don't even know how to explain how good these pies were! I had the funky monkey, which was filled to the brim with the most flavourful pie fillings on this planet! My friends also had other flavoured pies which slapped just as hard! The desserts were unreal! 10000/10

Awesome Vegan Pies - Edit
We stopped by Funky Pies for breakfast on our way to Bondi Beach, and what a treat it was! We ordered the Funky Chunky Pie with salad, Eezy Chic'n Cheezy Pie with mashed potatoes and mushy peas, and a large long black coffee. It's a little pricy to add the salad or the mashed potatoes, but everything was really fresh and delicious, and even the salad dressing surpassed all my expectations! Must try!

Read moreThe fillings are delicious and can fool any non-vegan hater. The pastry is soft and ‘buttery’ and taste like your floating in a cloud. Add the mash and gravy and its a certified banger.
The smoothies are fresh and incredibly tasty and nutritious.
They also sell frozen vegan meals and treats in the fridge.
The owner is a true local legend !

Unpretentious little place with a good vibe, not trying to be a hipster and instagrammable place, but focusing on good food instead. As this was my first visit to Australia and my first visit to the shop, I went for their classic Funky Chunky Pie with mash and gravy, and was not disappointed. The pie was probably the best one I've ever had. The staff were friendly, too. They also offer a selection of vegan groceries. The place is close to the beach.

Funky pies is an amazing place to hit up after spending a day at Bondi Beach! The pies are perfect! They normally serve their pies with mash, peas and gravy and it’s very reasonably priced as well! A brilliant spot for sydneysiders and tourists!

The food was delicious, and I highly recommend it. There's a selection of different pies and a few desserts. The place is simple but great for an outdoor lunch after spending time on Bondi beach. The staff is super nice, ad the prices reasonable!

Read moreI had the Mexican bean with mash peas and gravy and was totally stuffed. Very nice flavors. My guest was disappointed in her spinach pastie as it was more tofu than spinach, but she loved the pastry mash peas and gravy. Will definitely return when back in Sydney

Had high expectations after reading the reviews and it most certainly didn’t disappoint! Absolutely yummy, full of flavour and a real homely, comfort food option! The staff are so lovely and helpful too, and were happy to recommend their faves. Great dessert range too!

chunky mushroom pie for days - Edit
The chunky mushroom pie is the best pie I’ve ever tasted vegan or not vegan. I don’t even bother trying the rest cause I’m so obsessed with it but I’m sure they’re awesome too. They also have some vegan supplies!

I stopped in for a bite last year (May 2019) and was totally blown away by the flavours and fullness of the pie fillings. The staff were vibrant and it was a wonderful experience. Best pies in Aus, was my reaction - Visited again recently (Nov 2020) and the pies were a bit sad. It could be because it was mid afternoon when I arrived so keep that in mind reading my review. I would say the best time to go would be in the morning when the batches are fresh. The service was fast, the mash, peas and gravy a tasty combination. Reminiscent of stopping in at the famous Yatala Pies in QLD when I was a kid. 3 stars because the service could do with a smile.

Best Pies Ive Ever Had - Edit
This small cafe also sells frozen vegan goods (including their own frozen pies). SUPER DELICIOUS, I was planning to get only one pie but ended up eating two and a caramel slice. Their pies are not even small, yes certainly individual size, but for the 6.5 price tag, it was definitely bang for your bucks. Get the funky chunky ones!

Read moreMy freezer always has some pies in it, so handy and delish. You can also get other vegan goodies to stock up on...like Fry's, vegan cheeses, ice cream and they sell the best gluten free brownies too. Funky Pies is a Bondi icon not to be missed!

Funky pies never disappoints. It’s a chilled out space with plenty of vegan options both sweet and savoury. The mash and gravy are a great addition to your pie. Coffee can sometimes be a little lack lustre but the main event is always a winner!!

Pies are amazing, really flavoursome & hearty. Service leaves a lot to be desired though, it is very slow & some staff with bad attitudes. Coffee is not their strength at all. Very little seating. Cramped, awkward vibe.
