Welcomed Find in New Territory

After my wife’s wonderful zip wire experience we were lucky to catch it not long before closing.
The 3 of us thoroughly enjoyed the freshly baked pasties.

Pros: Lovely food, Friendly staff , High street location making vegan mainstream

Cons: No toilets but very clean ones in the village

Excellent cafe

Stopped by here after a trip up Snowdon and wasn't disappointed. There were limited options after 12pm but the pasties and cakes we had were very good.

Mediocre, but has potential.

I've been wanting to visit here for a while after seeing all the positive reviews and was looking forward to trying out some delicious pastries. Unfortunately this visit was disappointing. The staff didn't seem welcoming at all and there were only pasties available. Apparently, when asked, they weren't preparing anything else that day. We had coffees and a pasty, which were both lovely. Perhaps caught on a bad day. Would like to revisit and hopefully change my opinion.

Pros: Tasty pasty

Cons: Staff friendliness on day a let down, Limited options available

Sorry to hear you did not find our customer service friendly on your visit which you had been planning for some time. We would recommend that any special requests or long-anticipated visits are arranged with us beforehand.

While we pride ourselves on great service, as a high-volume tourist destination, we do occasionally have difficult interactions and exhaustingly busy periods - especially in the high season.

The date of your visit was the day after the Slateman Triathlon & Duathlon (which is a full weekend event, bringing tens of thousands of visitors to our village) and is one of our busiest weekends of the year.

I am aware we were short-staffed and stretched on the date of your visit, and we again apologise if you feel we didn’t give you everything you had been looking forward to.

With that said, we are first are foremost a coffee house, intentionally keeping a limited menu offering.
Your description of us as “mediocre” and having “potential” suggests you may have missunderstood identity and hard work of our shop; after many years in the business, we have intentionally simplified any food and homemade bakes to a minimum to have a stronger focus on our coffee menu, of which we always have three single origins on offer over multiple brewing methods, carefully selected.

I hope you can visit again with the understanding that we are a passionate coffee shop and not a cafe/restaurant.

With best wishes

Gorgeous Vegan Cakes and Pastries, Amazing Coffee!

After finally visiting Frân Las, I already know I will be regularly visiting this cafe when in Llanberis! They are situated on the centre of the high street and offer food to take away, eat in, or enjoy in their outdoor seating area. I visited early in the morning and took away a Curried Cauliflower, Chickpea and Onion Bhaji Pasty, a Homemade Cinnamon Swirl, and a Triple Choc Chip Cookie. The pasty is widely stocked in cafes as a vegan option and is always delecious, and the cookie was sweet and tasty, but the star of the show was the mouthwatering Hommade Cinnamon Swirl. The swirl's pastry was heavenly, and the portion was extremely generous, and most importantly, it tasted amazing! I am gutted that I did not also get a Hommade Mocha Swirl, but now I have all the more reason to visit Frân Las again soon.

I plan to nect visit during lunchtime with the aim of taking away one of their incredible looking bagels, which they frequently post about on their Instagram page showcasing a rotation of tasty looking flavourful combinations. Frân Las is a must visit for Vegans in North Wales, but I know this cafe is also popular among non-vegans, so I'd recommend everyone go there as their delecious coffee alone is worth the trip and it is something the cafe evidently care about and take great pride in.

Pros: Wide Variety of Vegan Baked Goods, Delecious Food, Lovely Coffee, Really Nice Staff, Lots of Vegan Produce For Sale

Cons: Sometimes Only Limited Savoury Options Available

Fabulous find in a small town

It's so refreshing to come across a vegan cafe in a small town. Options in Llanberis are limited since Petes closed but Fran Las is fully vegan and ideal for a coffee stop or lunch.

The croissants are to die for! I just hope they can change the prepacked jars of jam for a spoonful in a dish. It might make it a bit more affordable for some people.

Hi Alma,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your kind words.
Just to clarify, we do serve our jam as a spoonful in a ramekin during the low season. Due to incredibly high volume in high season, we temporarily change to pre-packed jars during busy periods (and make many seasonal adaptations to our service to enhance workflow during peak times). During the low season, our jam will be served once again in the ramekins.
Many thanks and best wishes

Amazing service and food!

I had the chickpea pasty, lotus biscoff swirl and a Karma raspberry lemonade. All were absolutely delicious. The biscoff pastry was massive (I had to take half home) and maybe my favourite vegan pastry I have ever had!! The staff were so lovely and the interior of the place is also very aesthetic.

Pros: Food, Service , Ambience

Cons: No toilet, Perhaps a little pricey?

Sweet little shop!

Staff were lovely, shop was really cute and sold other vegan products like candles etc too which was a nice touch. Sadly there were no sandwiches when we went (not sure if Feb out of season?) but I had the most delicious chai latte. Also sad that they were sold out of cinnamon swirls by 1pm!!

An absolute dream

Having spent a few days thinking North Wales was not at all vegan friendly, came to this wonderful place to have my faith restored 🙏🏼. Such lovely staff and incredible coffee and pastries. Our doggo Bruce loved being able to come in too. Would happily visit again!

We called in for breakfast. Lovely cafe all vegan friendly staff and a few large tables. Not an extensive breakfast menu so we had a cinnamon danish which was huge I took half of mine away as I could not finish it.

Pros: All 100% Vegan

Cons: No toilet, Not much for breakfast

Definitely worth several visits

The most amazing chocolate orange crunch and enormous mocha swirls are a must.

The hot chocolate and chai latte were heavenly.

Friendly staff and great service. Can't fault it at all. I'm mostly upset that we won't be back to try everything else soon.

Pros: Mocha swirl is enormous and amazing, Hot chocolate is the most luxurious , Great friendly service

I died and went to heaven - cinnamon rolls!

What a gem. Stumbled in here on holiday not realising it was fully vegan, and soon had a tasty coffee and a cinnamon bun the size of my head. It was delicious and I’m heading back tomorrow for more before I leave this beautiful town.

Pros: Best cinnamon buns I ever had, Friendly staff, Nice relaxed vibe

Some of the best pastries I've had

Huge pastries that were all delicious.
As good as, or even better than any I've had in France.
The staff were very welcoming and friendly.
It has a little shop for buying local coffee, crisps, coffee makers and other little items.
Meal wise they didn't have too many options, a soup and 2 sandwiches - I had the soup which was also delicious.
The seating is a little limited, but you can always take away and eat them with a world class view over the nearby lake.

Pros: Amazing pastries , Great coffee , Extremely welcoming and friendly

Great little cafe

Lovely cafe in Llanberis serving coffee, tea, cakes, pastries as well as some savoury light bites (soup, sandwiches etc). The chocolate, espresso and cinnamon swirls were huge and delicious!! A great spot in a lovely high street near to Mount Snowdon.

Great sweets

Nice little cafe in beautiful Llanberis with two tables outside, offering great cakes and sweets as well as specials for coffee-fans. But the only hearty offer (not sweet) was a vegan sausage roll. Also selling some other dry sweet goods like oat chocolate with brezels, whiskey liquor chocolate,shortbread,..

Vegan sweet feast

Wonderful coffee bar. We had a delicious chai latte here. The cinnamon rolls was also very tasty.

Unfortunately the sandwiches for lunch weren't available today. So maybe check beforehand if you are counting on a good lunch before a hike.

Sandwichs incroyables

Plusieurs options de sandwichs dans un gros pain de boulangerie locale, bien croutée.
Aliments frais et goûteux, plusieurs choix de pâtisseries et viennoiseries.
