Did not Disappoint 😋 - Edit
Vegan options are slim traveling through Osaka on a Sunday morning but Folk was open and had glowing reviews. I ordered the raspberry sparkling drink, mushroom sandwich and soup of the day combo and a lemon meringue. Every mouthful was delicious! Then I saw a French toast order go by and it looked so good I had to order it too😋 Next time I visit Osaka I will definitly come back and try more of their deliciousness.

Folk is a wonderful cafe owned by a lovely husband and wife team. They have a great selection of vegan and gluten free desserts as well as some really tasty savory foods. The sandwiches we had were amazing and the baked goods were really some of the best desserts we had in all of Japan! The restaurant has super cozy vibes and we loved that it’s located in a quieter part of Osaka. We really wanted to come back but, unfortunately, our itinerary didn’t allow it. Osaka is lucky to have this place!

It was a lovely restaurant with great food, and very sweet owners! We didn't have time to try much but the soup was tasty and the desserts were very pretty!

My family visited today and had a great meal. The carrot cake French toast, scones and chocolate chip cookies were so delicious that the whole family was happy. The owners were friendly and the atmosphere was great!

Wonderful Vegan Cafe! - Edit
The owners were very welcoming and the atmosphere was cozy, nice vibe. I stopped by for an afternoon sweet, and was not disappointed. I was torn between the cookies and the tart. I chose a raspberry and pistachio tart. So delicious!!! I highly recommend! I returned for their carrot cake french toast with persimmons and poached pears and covered by a vegan cream. So wonderful.

Read moreA pretty spacious place. Room for 18 to sit upstairs and some seating downstairs too. Nice mix of traditional and modern. A mix of woods. Some art adorning the walls. Plants in the window. Very pleasant.
Service
I was given a warm welcome from both Erika & Scott upon entry. Order confirmed and payment taken quickly and without issues. I was then directed upstairs to find myself a seat and then my cake & coffee soon arrived with a smile.
Food
Due to visiting ANDPON & GOLD FALAFEL in the last 4 hours, I didn’t have much room left for Folksaka’s wares. But the Peanut Butter Brownie & Cafe au lait really hit the spot.

1100jpy for a brownie & coffee. Perfect.

It’s a little tricky to find this place because you have to go down a few alleyways, but once you’re there it feels like a warm oasis in the middle of the city. The owners were so friendly and welcoming. They speak both English and Japanese. The food was amazing! I normally find gluten free bread/baked goods to be very dry, but they have cracked the code here on how to keep everyone moist and delicious! It felt like western food with a Japanese influence. It was a perfect little taste of home after traveled around Japan for a while. Highly recommend!

One of the best vegan spots I’ve found in 10+ years here - Edit
Wow! This one is easy to miss but you really owe it to yourself to stop by. I’ve lived in Japan before and still visit often, found this while on a recent trip. It’s probably the best vegan cafe I’ve been to in Japan in a long time. They’ve apparently been doing pop-ups or selling at markets for years so I assume locals must know about them.
Read moreThey mentioned that the menu rotates so I don’t want to pin expectations on dishes, but their (gluten free) homemade bread and approach to food is amazing. The desserts case is also 100% dangerous because it’s all great - tofu cheesecake hits closer to non-vegan cheesecake than many I’ve found, the cookies are amazing, etc. The coffee is also good, and they clearly care about making good coffee (in a country that frankly still can’t always get it right).
Just go here, trust me.
