Meh - Edit
They only have one vegan option, a vegan schnitzel with a side salad, which is smaller than the non vegan dish (and a side dish of potato salad but that barely counts) and it’s not good. It’s dry and doesn’t have that much flavor honestly. To me 20€ for something like that is way to expensive, plus, they don’t have plant milk if you want to order a coffee. Safe to say I’m kinda disappointed

Okay, aber auch nicht mehr. - Edit

Be sure to book - Edit
This is a good option for omni groups wanting to try a traditional Austrian schnitzel place. It’s super popular so be sure to book! The service and the surroundings are really good (we were a group of 15) and everyone enjoyed their food. I’m sure there are better vegan places in Vienna but this is a good for a not fully vegan group. Like most things in Vienna, it’s pricy, we spent £60 a head on a schnitzel, a side and 1-2 drinks each. The menu has vegan labelled options and lots of the sides are vegan. We enjoyed the mixed salad and potato salad with a vegan schnitzel.

Just good, not great. - Edit
I was very excited to have a vegan schnitzel option but it was just good, not great - two plain, uniform “cutlets.” It was disappointing because several other tables had ordered the pork schnitzel and it was a huge portion overflowing the plate. It old never happen but I would rather have had a cauliflower steak schnitzel. The parsley potatoes were delicious and the side salad good too. Just underwhelmed but vegan schnitzel option. Was in line about 20 minutes before opening- without a reservation, and got right in.

Not good at all! - Edit
You have to wait outside 25 mins and the veggie option was not good. 20€ for a dry and small Schnitzler...

Not really vegan friendly. It is a meat house. Haha. They have some.options, but not my vegan taste.

Good, but overpriced and overhyped - Edit
The schnitzel itself is good sized but, if you eat much, you will still be hungry. Having a vegan option with a non vegan chain like this one is important. It’s made of pea protein, a bit dry. Worth the experience, that’s all

Nice option for having a Vegan Schnitzel - Edit
Schnitzel was very good. The breading was fantastic. Got it with parsley potatoes and lingonberry jam. It definitely is overpriced, but an interesting experience nonetheless.

Fancy restaurant, average vegan schnitzel - Edit
Waited half an hour before we could be seated. The restaurant looked quite fancy, as the prices confirmed as well. The vegan schnitzel was alright, definitely not the best one I’ve ever had but it was tasty enough.

Vegan schnitzel - Edit
I was pleased to be able to have vegan schnitzel during our trip. It was nice enough and came with a simple side salad; some interesting wines to try too. We reserved a good few weeks in advance and upon arriving there was a long queue waiting to get in so definitely recommend reserving! Nothing to write home about but a nice spot if you’re wanting to have a traditional Austrian dish with non-vegan friends.

No vegan schnitzel on the menu - but good option - Edit
We came here for the vegan schnitzel but it wasn’t on the menu. However, they had a very nice cauliflower curry that I enjoyed a lot! Nice genuine flavor - think it would beat any vegan schnitzel

vegan schnitzel - Edit
I really did not want to leave the city without having tried a vegan version of the Schnitzel. This place was great. They mostly serve meat dishes, but have a vegan version of the schnitzel, which comes in two escalopes (contrary to the traditional one which comes as one big portion).

Food was great!l and staff is familiar with the term ‘vegan’.
We were only two, so it was easy to get a table without reservation. If going there as a big group, I’d recommend booking in advance!
Pros: Vegan schnitzel, friendly staff
Cons: expensive

Vegan schnitzel tasted out of a packet - Edit
Didn't taste awful but definitely not worth it. Just tasted like typical vegan chicken/pig substitute. Came with some lettuce in a bowl. I also had the potato salad as a side which was great and seemingly vegan although I forgot to check if it contained honey.

Worst vegan Schnitzel I’ve ever had - Edit
To be fair, Figlmüller is probably the last place for vegans to begin with. Usually I avoid going to typical “meat-serving” places like these if I am not accompanied by “omnivores”. In this case however, I was excited to hear there was a vegan alternative offered, as I came here as a small child (when I still ate meat) and was looking forward to reliving the experience. Also, I think it is a good sign to show places like these that vegan alternatives are accepted and are high in demand.
Read moreWhen the Schnitzel came, it was very disappointing. Much smaller than the “real” Schnitzels and absolutely NO taste. Maybe the kitchen forgot to add spice, but for 16€ just for the Schnitzel and a small salad, no sauces, it just wasn’t enough. I’m always happy to see restaurants offering vegan options, but in this case it would be better not to offer anything rather than this. Seriously, it’s the worst vegan alternative I have ever had. I prefer my 2€ Schnitzels from Aldi. Even omnivores should be able to tell that it does not taste good.
Anyways, when we complained the waiter was very friendly. The kitchen wasn’t very open to our critique, but he removed one of the Schnitzels from the bill, so the damage wasn’t quite as bad.

Okay - Edit
I had the planted vegan Schnitzel, my friends had a „normal“ Schnitzel. It tasted good, but some salt and spice was missing and very expensive (16€) for what you got. You get some green salad with it (which I changed for fries), but cranberries, ketchup etc. you have to order additionally for 1-3€ each. I would definitely recommend reservation if you go there, because the place was very crowded even though it was a Tuesday night. It was okay, also nice that this traditional Schnitzel Restaurant had a vegan option, but for this price I wouldn’t eat there again.

The planted Schnitzel was super yummy but small compares to the "original". The Erdäpfelsalat was amazing. The service is excellent. You should definitely make a reservation if you plan to eat there in the evening.

Great Vegan Schnitzel! - Edit
I am from Vienna and I already brought two visiting friends here to try the vegan schnitzel! It’s probably the best I‘ve ever had. You also have to try their fries, I think they are amazing😄
Read moreFiglmüller is an old, traditional restaurant and the everybody is doing their best to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Our waiter was super attentive and friendly and asked us several times if everything was alright. Sadly, their schnitzel seems to be the only vegan thing on the menu.
Pros: great service, the vegan schnitzel ;), good location in the heart of Vienna
Cons: only one vegan option , a bit pricy
