Vielfältig, hell und lecker! - Edit
Es gibt viele vielfältige Optionen und der Raum ist schön und hell gestaltet. Der Innenhof ist auch schön, nur ist die Einrichtung etwas einfach gehalten. Das steht im leichten Kontrast zu den kunstvoll und hochwertig angerichteten Speisen auf den Tellern. (Für Bilder siehe instagram). Trotzdem ist das Restaurant sehr zu empfehlen!

Tolles, außergewöhnliches Konzept mit wechselnder Karte je nach Saison (alle 2 Monate). Das Essen ist hochwertig und toll angerichtet. Auch der Brunch ist nur zu empfehlen! Das Restaurant selber ist mit viel Liebe dekoriert und lädt zum Wohlfühlen ein. Im Sommer wird bei gutem Wetter der Außenbereich geöffnet.

Tolles Menu - Edit
Wir waren gestern das erste mal im Farbenfroh, bestimmt nicht das letzte mal. Das 3Gang-Menu war super lecker, die Weinbegleitung passend und der Preis stimmt auch. Man kann schön draußen sitzen in einem gemütlichen Innenhof. Wir wollen auf jeden Fall den Brunch am Sonntag ausprobieren.

Außergewöhnliches Restaurant - Edit
Wir waren schon öfters im Farbenfroh. Für mich ist es eines der besten veganen Restaurants in Deutschland. Hochklassige Gerichte und tolle Weinempfehlungen. Es ist nicht günstig, aber das Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis stimmt vollkommen. Das aktuelle Menü findet man immer auf der Website.

Die Gerichte waren durchweg lecker und der Portobello war groossartig!
Tatsächlich habe ich gerade für morgen noch einmal einen Tisch bestellt da ich übermorgen die Stadt wieder verlasse und noch mehr Gerichte probieren möchte.

Vegan und in hoher Qualität. Absolut sein Geld wert. Ich war begeistert und werde, wann immer ich in Essen bin unbedingt wieder hingehen. Gefiltertes Wasser! Ich hau mich weg, was für eine geniale Idee, die ich so noch nie gesehen habe, toll. Schöne und schmackhafte Kreationen. Das Ganze mit einem krassen Gegensatz auf der anderen Strassenseite. I would rate it as one of the top ten vegan restaurants in Germany. The menu changes regularly, dishes are seasonal and made of fresh ingredients. Supreme quality and taste. Excelent wine selection.

Erster Besuch im Farbenfroh zum Sonntagsbrunch: Riesige Auswahl, appetitlich angerichtet, aufmerksame Bedienung, sehr, sehr lecker! Mir gefällt besonders, dass es vorgefertigt kleine Portionen gibt z.b. Brotaufstriche oder Desserts. Man kann sich beliebig oft nachnehmen, aber auf diese Art und Weise nimmt niemand zu viel. Der Innenhof ist überraschend und sehr gemütlich.

I went here twice. Once for the vegan brunch which was more family oriented and down to earth tasty food. 2nd time was for their 3 course meal with corresponding juices (instead of wines) in the evening and that was really something special.

Read moreThe food is sooo good. The bread is fresh self baked. And all the dishes taste and look amazing. There are different sweets like pancakes, cakes or creams aswell. Further you can get filtered water for just 1 €. Thats good for people like me that are drinking regularly water most of the time.
So really a big recommendation for everyone, especially if youre vegan.

A culinary delight and a feast for the eyes - Edit
For years I have been a guest at the Farbenfroh, for Sunday brunches and also for the multi-course dinners. I have always left the restaurant more than satisfied. The chef is very ambitious, the quality of the food is always very high and appealing, the staff very friendly. There are many tables, but due to the continuously increasing popularity, one should definitely make a reservation. For dinner there is also a nice selection of vegan wines and juices, which can be ordered as an accompaniment to the respective course. Let yourself be pampered, it is simply top class. Only a pity that the stomach is always full so fast ;-)

Besides all the "more-or-less fast food" and "casual" frequently popping up vegan restaurants and grills (that usually close after a while due to lack of quality or creativity) this one is hopefully built to last: my first and (for now) only visit was great. I've had the 4-course-option and every course was a blast! I cannot really remember what dishes the dinner consisted of but everything was fresh, carefully seasoned and garnished beautifully. Staff is very friendly and professional, everything is clean and the atmosphere is cozy enough for finer dining. Of course prices are not super low but more than adequate - regarding quality and service they can even be considered cheap.

Vegan fine dining at its best - Edit
Visited recently with three friends who are omni. Had different choices among us and all were very happy with their meals. Friendly service, high quality ingredients and cooked with love. Positive atmosphere. What else can one ask for. Not a place to go when in a rush. As in general with above average kitchen, allow some time for fresh preparation. I will be back.

Since we were visiting Essen, we looked on HappyCow for a restaurant recommendation there. The menu itself was like opening a small book with their dishes and beverages. I mention that because laminated menus tell me the food never changes. The food at Farbenfroh changes with the seasons, with a special menu changing weekly. It was hard to choose because everything looked so good. We ended up ordering the 3 course menu with wine pairings. Everything was delicious and a feast for the eyes. The food was wonderful, the wines paired deliciously. All the wines were from German wineries.

We both had the Polenta with Lentils and Pomegranate, Stuffed Potatoes with 'Shrooms and Kale, and we both tried different desserts. All of the courses had a balance of textures and flavours. Although full, we finished our amazing desserts. I recommend the chocolate cake with caramel ice cream. All dishes had lovely presentations.
The restaurant has a quiet ambiance (you can't hear the conversation at the next table), it's relaxed and casual.
