Wow amazing!!! - Edit

I am so glad I did not listen to the negative reviews. This place had a calm chill atmosphere and many options including GF. Their cheese steak was beyond delicious, packed full of flavor. Being from Philly I can say it definitely was comparable to a Philly steak. Please note however the cheese steaks are not GF. They also have Vegan desserts and milk shakes!!! I will definitely be back. Another plus it was fairly priced, paid about the same for the vegan steak as someone would for a animal based one.

Pros: Lots of Vegan options, vegan desserts, gluten free options

Good food, customer service issues - Edit

I hesitated to write this review but after reading the other reviews I wanted to chime in. I first went to DSK over a year ago after my GPS took me on a wild goose chase to find it. I was impressed by the food (ok, the V-Steak won me over!) but was surprised by the 30 minute wait. While waiting a young man who came in and ordered the mac and cheese when the employee at the counter was very rude exclaiming "YOU KNOW IT IS VEGAN RIGHT?" the customer responded (obviously insulted) that is why he was buying it. It was odd and just plain rude.

My husband was impressed with the food I brought him home and pleaded we make the hour drive back. Unfortunately each trip we made waited longer for our food, even when the only visible customers. On one trip a young girl was helping out and tried to serve us our food, her Mom insisted it wasn't ours and just yelled at her for sometime after. The child was in the right (it was our food) but noone would listen and we had to wait much longer for the food while the child was told over and over she was in the wrong. It was a very uncomfortable situation to be in. My husband was extremely upset and vowed never to return.

Pros: V-Steak, Has potential to be great.

Cons: Extremely Long Wait, Staff attitude, A bit pricey for some menu items

Delicious food and friendly staff - Edit

Everything I tried here was awesome!!! We were visiting from Seattle and my partner kept telling me we had to check this place out because she had eaten here once before and couldn't stop talking about the "cheese steak" aka the V-steak. It was worth the hype! Lots of great options and everyone that worked there was super friendly and upbeat. You can taste it when people cook with love.

Cons: They were kinda hard to find. Better signage would

Fabulous spot - Edit

What a great find!!! We were visiting Delaware and found DSK. We ordered takeout, (even though we live near exit 7 on the NJ turnpike) amazing vegan 'cheese steaks'. Ordered Mac and cheese on staff suggestion and we fought over it. I'm so glad I did not pay attention to some bad reviews, because they were wrong. Friendly staff and delicious food.

Pros: Great location and view

Cons: That it is not closer to me

Way, way, way too SALTY - Edit

Almost inedibly salty, every time I've been. Such a shame that people feel the need to add a bucket of salt to make vegan food taste more indulgent. It only makes it hard to eat it.

Pros: Fun location on Riverfront

Cons: Price/Portion ratio, No ambiance at all, not comfy, too bright, not sup, SALTY, SALTY, SALTY!

Great food, terrible service - Edit

The food is amazing and easily the best vegan option in Delaware. The service however has steadily declined since I've been going there. The employees range from rude to indifferent. If the customer service improves this place would go back to being my favorite.

Pros: Options, flavor

Cons: Employees

Best Vegan Food - Edit

Drop Squad Kitchen was incredible. If you are in the area, this is worth the detour or trip. We have been vegan for almost 5 years now and this was the best food we've had at a vegan restaurant. We had the V Steak and Mac and Cheese, you should too. You won't regret it!

Pros: All Vegan Menu (including dessert) , Friendly Staff, Outdoor Seating

Cheesesteak - Edit

It was rather spicy and salty. The roll was not great. "The Goat" in N. Wilmington has a better one.

Pros: nice location, nice choices

Cons: very small, slow , too spicy

Nice restaurant, but... - Edit

I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant. It's in a nice scenic location, right on the Christina River. The vegan cheesesteak was good. And I loved the R&B music playing in the background (through the PA system).

One thing needs clarification though: Although most of the food her is vegan, this is NOT a vegan restaurant. Their ice cream is NOT vegan. Might just must be a misclassification by HappyCow. The listing implies that this is a vegan restaurant within an ice cream shop. But the two are one and the same, i.e. there is only one kitchen, one cashier for the entire establishment. If you're vegan, like myself, they did have two vegan desserts which were both good: vegan baklava and vegan cupcakes. (Perhaps they will add vegan ice cream in the future.)

You may have trouble finding this place on the first visit. The sign outside says "Molly's Ice Cream", but a separate sign, on the front, says "Drop Squad Kitchen". It's confusing. Plus, it's not visible from the road or the parking lot. You have to park your car in the lot (on the other side of the building), then walk along the riverwalk to get there.

I deducted one star from the rating because the service could use some polishing. But I enjoyed my visit and would definitely return.

Pros: Nice location on the river, Good food, Nice background music

Cons: Service a little slow, Ice cream is NOT vegan

potential to be a great spot - Edit

I've waited to write a review for Drop Squad Kitchen for a while now, the reason being my first visit was fantastic. The service was fast, friendly and the food was delicious. Every visit after the first I can say was less than satisfactory. I wanted to hope that maybe I had just come on a bad day, but after almost 10 visits, I can say that I probably won't go again for some time. All of the other visits I was waiting well over an hour for a drink and a wrap or salad. Several times my food had been prepared and sitting on a counter for no less than 15 minutes before I asked about it and no one realized it was even there. Most of the employees won't even look at you, or call your order out when it is ready. I've also witnessed employees just sitting or leaning and talking to each other rather than taking orders of customer waiting to place one or preparing drinks or food, leaving the work to normally one person. This is really upsetting to me because it is the closest Vegan restaurant to where I live and it's still a good 20 min drive for poor customer service and attitudes. The food is normally very good and they began to add more options to their menu, but the owners should maybe reconsider their employees. It's not a very big store and could still be very efficient with the right staff instead of having 6 or 7 people standing around behind the counters.

Pros: great food, decent prices

Cons: terrible customer service

Everything is everything - Edit

This place is so amazing! Everything here is so good. People who say the service is unfriendly are obviously biased themselves. Not only has all the food always been so incredibly delicious but the family who works there accommodating and helpful. My husband loves their Vsteak so much he drives an hour from Dover just to get one! As if that weren't enough, the decorations inside the café are the icing on the proverbial vegan cupcake.

worst service ever - Edit

I'm well aware their food takes a long time which is why we call ahead. We called well in advance and our smoothies were not ready. We were told they wanted them to be fresh. Ok, so we eat our food and I then inquired again about the smoothies. They had forgotten to make the smoothies and were told "they will take how long they will take." We were offered a refund and when I said, no that's ok, just the smoothies I was told they just didn't want to hear my complaints. The food is good but the service and attitude just aren't worth it.

Amazing food! - Edit

I've loved everything I've gotten here. I love trying new things, but nothing compares to eating the food I ate as a child. The La Sagena (lasagna), V-Steak, Mac & Cheeze, even the smoothies! Literally stupendous. I would eat here every day if possible.

Pros: Incredible food, Great staff

Cons: A little confusing to find, A tad pricey but worth it

Vegan for the Soul! - Edit

To clarify: DSK serves vegan cuisine with a soul food flair. The shop was previously Molly's ice cream but was completely taken over by other family members. There are still some dairy ice cream and dessert options available, but everything under the DSK banner is vegan (including some vegan ice cream that I didn't get a chance to try).

I enjoyed a Marley kale salad which includes jerk seasoned ChickUN and gluten-free mac n cheeze, washed down with one of their signature drinks called rose quartz. All was ridiculously good and satisfyingly filling!

If you're on I-95 going thru Wilmington, DE it's an easy jump off the interstate for a healthy and flavorful meal that's made with the spirit of love. Follow your GPS, park in the lot next to the waterfront in front of two cranes. You can't see it from the street, but once you walk on the "boardwalk" side of the shopping area (past the cranes) you'll see it. Or, just call and they will direct you (as they did for me).

After my meal I was back on the interstate and at the Philadelphia airport in about 30 mins. Well worth it!

Pros: vegan soul food, fresh, whole foods, friendly staff

Great Food But Not Vegan - Edit

Great vegan food, great service, and reasonably priced. But, it's inside a cow's milk ice cream shop. How can it be considered a vegan restaurant??

timkingkraw 11 May 2017 - It's not cows milk ice cream anymore. From what I understand, DSK was like a side business inside Molly's ice cream shop. But earlier this year DSK has completely taken over ownership. Dairy ice cream has been phased out.

Ridiculously good - Edit

I've been pesco for a few months, and my coworker recently became vegan; so we decided to try out Drop Squad since it's near where we work. Oh. My. Goodness. We both got the mac and cheeze, and I got a V-Steak while she got cornbread. Everything was almost frighteningly accurate haha. I had no idea vegan cheese could taste so great, and the v-steak was everything I remembered about cheesesteaks without leaving me feeling gross afterwards. Even the texture was on point. We will definitely be going again. We cannot wait to try their take on lasagna and eat some desserts!

Pros: Accuracy in flavor and texture, Cute, local, hole-in-the-wall friendly vibe, Also sells local vegan products

Cons: Hard to find if you aren't from the area

What a Find!!! - Edit

Wonderful little place in Wilmington. A little ways off of I-95, but worth it. Part of Molly's Ice Cream Cafe; there is a little sign for Drop Squad Cafe in a potted plant outside.

Menu is on the counter - only the ice cream offerings are in the wall.

Had the La Sage Na (lasagna), kale side salad, Raw Wrap (a little sweet) with sweet potato chips, and Mojitos. Delicious.

Friendly and attentive staff.

Vegan deserts available.

A definite return location when in the area!

Pros: good food, inexpensive, informal
