Quan chay / small vegan buffet-style com binh dan restaurant run by a Buddhist family. Serves a mixture of salad, vegetable, tofu, soup, and mock meat dishes with a choice of white or brown rice with black beans, plus tea. The number of dishes can vary day to day, but generally the busier it is the larger the range of dishes that are available. Better arrive before 1:30pm. Reported closed, Nov '22.

Quan Chay Dieu Tam - Edit
It's quickly become my favorite place to eat in Hanoi, due to the warmth and generosity of the family that run it, the variety of dishes which change daily as well as the price.
Read moreIt's a small buffet style com binh dan restaurant that has been open for around 4 months)as of March 2016) which is run by a Buddhist family. They serve a mixture of salad, vegetable, tofu, soups and mock meat dishes and you also have the choice between white and brown rice with black beans. It's only 30,000vnd per person (including tea) and for this price I think the food is excellent, and I've everyone I've ever taken to eat there (both vegan and non vegan) have enjoyed the food.
The number of dishes can vary day to day, but generally the busier it is the larger the range of dishes that are available. I'd recommend arriving before 12:30pm but they usually stay open until sometime between 2:30 - 3pm
There are signs in Vietnamese and one in English in front of the restaurant but as it's such a small place It can still be quite difficult to see from the road, especially as there are sometimes a lot of bikes parked out in front.

best buffet on this side of the lake! - Edit
Over my time in Hanoi I have been to this buffet about 4 times, the food is always quite similar but it is so delicious you look forward to coming back to the same food. At 30k it’s the cheapest you will find and includes tea and water. A very wholesome environment with friendly people, it fills up at about 12pm with locals and expats alike.

Not the prettiest of places but the food makes up for the decor. They tend to make the same dishes every day but there's enough variety to keep people going back.

Delicious food, lovely people - Edit
My hubby and I came here for brunch and we were so glad we did! What a delicious spread of tofu dishes, vegetables dishes, potatoes and all sorts there. Even a big rice cooker of red rice with black beans - perfect nutrition!! Tea is part of the buffet price, and for only 30k you seriously are getting more than a bargain. It's a peaceful, tranquil setting with light Buddhist singing in the background, and the family who run the place and cook here are so lovely. We hope to go back before we leave Hanoi. Beautiful meal!

I love this place - Edit
This place is so awesome - they offer all you can eat type of buffet for 30k vnd (It's around 1 euro). You can choose from different types of tofu, fake meats, fresh and boiled vegetables, rice, noodles, soup etc. People running this place are so sweet - they asked me if I'm full enough, maybe I should eat more (and I've already ate tons hahah). Highly recommended.

The little buffett restaurant is just next to West Lake, in a nice setting. The food is delicious, we tried everything - they make 4-5 different type of tofu, veggies, rice and soup. The 30.000dong includes a cup of green tea as well. I will definitely return.

The vegan buffet spread has a selection of vegetables and mock meat. I would recommend going for the veggies and not the mock meat as the latter were salty and oily (for the fried ones).

Great food, beautiful people. - Edit
The food is fresh and really cheap. Unlimited buffet for 30k...you cannot argue with that. The ladies that work there are absolutely lovely and have always made me feel welcome with my Tupperware when I pop in and grab some food on the way to work. Definitely a place that deserves our support. Can be a wee tricky to find at first as they are a small doorway but hunt them out. Well worth it.
