Lost some of its charm

DSW used to be one of my favorite bulk stores, because it has such an individual setup and some special products. I still love the tofu, sweets and get my general dry goods there, but it has lost some of its charm. Often things are sold out, more and more packaged items are sold, staff disappears and the store is generally a bit disorganized.

Fantastic zero waste shop.

Great zero waste shop where you bring your own containers and fill up exactly how much you want of food and cleaning supplies. Friendly and helpful staff and very clean. The chocolate kirsch cherries are divine!i

Pros: Chocolate kirsch cherries, Lots of dried goods, Great staff

Cons: No bran sticks, but no one in Germany sells them!

Best shop in Prenzlauer Berg

The zero waste shop offers a great variety of products. Usually one can buy fresh vegetables. Definitely a place worth to go!

Great zero-waste shop in Prenzlauerberg

DSW is one of the only shops of it's kind in Berlin and perhaps the only one in Prenzlauerberg. It has a huge selection of unpackaged dry staple goods (like pasta, rice, beans), herbs and spices, toiletries and cleaning products, fresh fruit and veg, tofu, tempeh, soya yogurt, some sweets, nut butters, oils, vinegars. They also have a lot of mueslis and so on.

You can bring your own jars or tupperware - though they also provide cleaned donated jars. You just weigh your containers before filling them, and label them, and then this price is deducted at the counter. They're always friendly and very rarely out of stock.

It can get a bit pricey but this also reflects the food quality and the extra effort it takes to remove packaging from their offer. DSW are definitely a must-visit for the environmentally conscious in North Berlin.

Pros: No packaging, Huge selection, Free jars

Cons: Not overpriced, but not cheap
