Good for vegetarians but not vegans - Edit
A fully vegetarian restaurant, but there are no vegan options marked on the menu which contains a lot of cheese. However there are monthly and seasonal dishes, so some months may be better for vegans than others; I'd recommend checking online or phoning in advance.

If Michelin star service makes you uncomfortable, this is a more relaxed setting with a tasting menu. I didn’t like the amuse bouche. The rice wafer was a bit soggy, and there were a few other small details I didn’t like in other courses, but overall I enjoyed the experience. The main course in particular had a sauce made with coffee oil that was really good, and the dish had a great combination of textures and flavor.

Four of us ordered the 4 course menu (not cheap). The service was pretty slow so it took a while. Almost as soon as we had finished dessert, we were asked to hurry up and leave as people were waiting for a table. There was no mention of a 'time-slot' when we booked or sat down. We've eaten here a few times before but this will be the last time.

I try to go here, every time I visit. It‘s quite small and looks crowded, but sitting here still feels intimate as the room is designed to have different sections. Depending on where you sit, you don‘t see the other patrons.
Read moreThe staff is friendly and curious, as you have a short-lived relation with them during your visit and get to know each other. Provided you are looking for a bit of conversation of course. Nothing is forced or awkward.
The restaurant offers a vegetarian and vegan option for their 4-course-meals, which are offered for an incredible price in my opinion. The dishes are seasonal and skillfully made. However I do have to admit, that the vegetarian menu was unfortunately better, since the use of dairy made a huge difference, whereas the vegan menu focused more on well prepared produce and had no apparent use for dairy alternatives. The food isn‘t experimental by any means, so don‘t expect foam or any other showmanship. It‘s the simple things done well.

They serve 1 vegan and 1 vega menu a day. As I don’t like coconut they adjusted my menu which was much appreciated! Lots of attention to flavor.

Currently the restaurant opens at 5 p.m. A 3 or 4 course vegetarian or vegan surprise meal is offered with or without wine pairing. We did the 3 course with wine pairing and it was amazing. Romantic and special without being snooty. It was expensive for us, but worth every penny. Service was excellent as well.

Again, totally worth the expensive price tag for a lovely night out. Our table was very romantic, seated at the window with candles burning.

What a great evening! My omni travel companion and I experienced the 4 course vegan and vegetarian surprise menus with wine pairing. Each course was delicious! The service was top notch. This is a splurge meal, but it was well worth it on our vacation!

May be the most perfectly cooked meal of my life. Quality ingredients cooked right in creative dishes that just taste good. My only complaint is that I was still a little hungry at the end of the four course surprise vegan meal, which for €48 isn't cheap. Really enjoyed every bite.

If you're into your gastronomy, this is easy to recommend. Shame it's not actually vegan but there you are. They have a set menu called a surprise menu of three or four courses, which of course you can't foresee except that they ask for allergies and any foodstuffs you can't bear, and whether you want vegetarian or vegan. All my courses had something with an unusual twist, especially the dessert.

To do what De Waaghals does requires real skill. My partner and I both thoroughly enjoyed the vegan and vegetarian set menus on our visit. The attentive wait staff and the superb wine pairing made the evening even better. We shall definitely be returning on our next trip to Amsterdam.

I was very very impressed by the dishes here, everything is well thought of to create amazing and cohesive recipes. Plus! veggies were seasonal! I would recommend to take the 3 course, just to be able to try most of it!

Genoten van een heerlijk vegan menu. Gisteren wezen uiteten bij de Waaghals. Mijn zus had het vegetarisch menu en ik het vegan 4 gangen menu. Smaken en structuren waren zeer verrassend en aangenaam. De bediening was kundig en de service spoedig.

Misschien wel mijn favorite restaurant. Vanuit Baarn reis ik zeker eens per jaar naar Amsterdam om te dineren dit restaurant. Ik ben keer op keer weer gefascineerd en verrast door de heerlijke veganistische gerechten. Met nieuwe inspiratie rij ik telkens weer terug naar huis.

Old vegetarian restaurant that is starting to improve. We were Always happy to have this vegetarian restaurant in Amsterdam. Long before all the trendy vegan restaurants came, this place was there to take care of us😉
Read moreI am very happy how the restaurants is improving. Really nice tastes. Although I could eat more than they serve one portion, it is nice that they bring the tastes to a next level and that there is so much delicate tastes combinations. I think for vegans this place has marvellously grown! There are so much vegan dishes these days. And they have also changed that the 'V' at a dish is Always vegan (instead of a veganize option how it used to be).
Friendly, down to earth staff. Restaurant is situated very close to the Albert Cuyp in the Pijp in Amsterdam.
