Book nook for locals, expats, and tourists

With its room full of comfortable sofas and chairs, eclectic selection of books — many of them in English — and veganizable variety of hot and cold beverages, this charming cafe is an enjoyable place to while away an afternoon or enjoy a light repast. A bowl of the daily soup (vegan mixed vegetable, pictured) served with sourdough bread, was filling and tasty. As desserts (including banana bread, cheesecakes, and Middle Eastern treats) were not vegan, I ended my meal with a cashew chai latte, which came with a little vegan cookie. Another choice is the golden milk, healthfully glowing with a brightness that belies its mild flavor.
On certain Saturday evenings, wine may be sipped to the accompaniment of live music (see Facebook page or call for schedule).
