Good - Edit
The hot as hell saitan tacos were good. Taste better than they looked. They would be better in a crispy shell or as a burrito because the tortillas were ripping apart from the juices of the meat and slaw. I did add sat and pepper and hot sauce. All needed in my opinion. My husband got the soyrizo and potato quesadilla. Mine was better, his didn’t have much flavor and what it did have was a very distinctive taste that we couldn’t figure out 😂. The Arnold Palmer was undrinkable. It was sooo sour it burned our throats.

Would rate 5 stars if I could - Edit
We had lunch at Crossroads and enjoyed it so much that we came all the way back for brunch the next morning — and were staying in Palm Springs! There were a lot of vegan options on the menu and everything was delicious and filling.

Hail Seitan - Edit
A few great vegan options in this hip spot. The music selection was on point. This is where the young locals go. Vegan tacos were good, generous with the avocado. Chipotle sause was great. Hell burger was good, not great. The fries though!

AMAZING - Edit
If I could give 5 stars, I would but since this is a non-vegetarian restaurant I sadly can’t. The food here is amazing! There are many vegan options. A tofu scramble, seitan burgers, vegan chili, vegan grilled cheese, salads and many breakfasts that are made with egg can be asked to be made with tofu scramble!! I definitely recommend.

I had read about this place on happycow, and here's my Crossroads Cafe review.
Read moreI've been to Joshua Tree twice and stopped in on both trips. On the second trip, the place seemed the same, didn't changed much at all. It's causal and very popular.
When you walk in, there is a large menu board to one side, and a ordering counter to the left.
The menu offers many breakfast items (with egg and/or dairy). For lunch sandwiches there are 3 vegetarian choices, and you can ask to leave out the cheese.
I've had the tempeh reuben, and it was good. I think my mother-in-law had the portobello mushroom sandwich, and she liked it okay.
Pros: veg-friendly, coffee, cozy
Cons: meat

Fast service and vegan options! - Edit
This is a great little restaurant that seems to be staffed mainly by climbers. The atmosphere is sort of DIY, but it's fun and unique. Crossroads Cafe is a fantastic place to stop after a long day of climbing in Joshua Tree. The staff are friendly and the service is surprisingly fast, don't let the long line deter you when you first walk in. They have a great vegan tofu dish for breakfast and they will happily make the tempeh reuben and the tofu melt vegan. They use veganaise and soy cheese instead of dairy products on the sandwiches when you ask, and no one gives you a funny look for asking for things vegan. The smoothies are really good as well. This was for sure a welcome find on my recent trip to J Tree.
