Great intro to Austin - Edit
First meal when we moved here and didn’t disappoint. We got the chicken baked steak, seitan BBQ sandwich, turtle cheesecake and buffalo mac and cheese balls. Everything was delicious, and the waitress very sweet.

Amazing place!! - Edit
We’re visiting Austin today and chose this place to check out. We definitely made the right choice!
Read moreWe ordered the Reuben, apple bacon sandwich, lentil kale soup, and German chocolate cake. The soup was a little underwhelming, and the cake wasn’t super sweet, but overall the food was still great and service was super attentive as well. Must stop by if you’re in Austin!

Our favorite vegan restaurant - Edit
At this friendly place the food is always amazing and we love trying the specials. If you have allergies or a special diet, everything is labeled. Nice shaded patio for warm weather and cozy indoor ambiance for cooler weather. Good choice of wines which are discounted for Happy Hour.

Unassuming and amazing!! - Edit
Counter Culture is the gem of Austin. Fantastic food, friendly staff and a chill atmosphere. The owner is one who treats her staff and customers like family and gives back to the community always. Not only will your tummy and tastebuds be happy when you visit Counter Culture, so will your heart and soul knowing you’re contributing to a business with a heart!! 💚❤️ Sue has bent over backwards to keep her staff employed and safe during these difficult times and still donates food to those in need. If you support any restaurants during the pandemic, make sure Counter Culture is at the top of your list. Absolutely well worth a pick up or delivery on a regular basis!!

Love Counter Culture - Edit
During covid days going to restaurants has really changed. Counter Culture is no different and has had to adapt. Not easy for a place that was not originally set up for take out food. But I’ve been more than happy with the new menu which includes many old favorites and some new items.
Read moreCounter Culture is home cooking that you don’t have to cook at home ( I hate cooking ) but it’s also guilt free home cooking as all ingredients are house made and not processed, usually local and organic, and simply delish.
My favorites are getting the weekly special pizzas. Often very unusual, like pear pizza with fig sauce to buffalo cauliflower pizza, and wonderful vegan takes on traditional pizzas like the pesto and margarita pizzas with house made cashew cheese.
Another favorite is the BBQ skewers. Like beefy chunks of seitan marinated and served with a slaw and roasted cashews, all with a lovely Asian BBQ type sauce.
Also good are the weekly cheesecakes. Never a disappointment.
I look forward to the day when things can get back to eating normally at restaurants, but until that happens Counter Culture has great take out options and all precautions are in place.
Pros: Delicious , Hearty meals , Clean food

AMAZING - Edit
I got the beet burger and it is the best burger I have ever tasted. So flavorful and it went well with the caesar salad (although it tastes more mustardu). My friend got the mac n cheese which was also incredible. The staff is really nice too. Highly recommend😄

A happy vegan in-between - Edit
This place was phenomenal if you’re not craving heavy, greasy vegan comfort food, but also not thrilled about a super clean whole food meal (though they have options for both sides of that spectrum as well). Great beer list, too!

Good food including oil free options - Edit
I was dining alone so I sat at the counter. The server was very attentive and pleasant. The food was all very good. I especially like that they have oil free options in every category on the menu.
Read moreWhile I enjoyed everything as it was served a couple items would probably be deemed not hot enough by some. Maybe this intentional as they serve many raw items.
The total bill wasn't cheap but as far as vegan places go it was very reasonable considering the quality.
Update as of 2/6/2020 - I've been here about 4 times now over the years when in town. Service has always been great, but today it was slow and not attentive which was surprising given how slow they were. Dropping a star.
Pros: Good sized menu, Oil free options
Cons: Service usually good, but not always.

So good omnis will love it! - Edit
My family and I were visiting from out of state; my sister and I are vegan and our mother isn’t. My sister and I shared the East Side Quesadilla and our mom ordered the Breakfast Burrito. The burrito was phenomenal and my mom loved it so much saying “this place deserves 5 stars!” The quesadilla was good too, but definitely recommend the burrito first! Wasn’t too impressed with the service the staff provided and it took a little while for the food to come out even though they only had 3 tables.. but luckily the taste of the food saved the experience to get the 5 stars!

Delicious and delightful - Edit
Visited here from out of town-totally worth the trip! Although the weather was a tad humid, I chose the outdoor seating. Despite being next to a busy road, the outdoor dining area was pleasant and surprisingly quiet. My meal was OUTSTANDING-the waitress was also top notch. Had a delicious Tempeh Reuben with the “Beets-n-Sweets” side. The flavor combinations on the Reuben were so satisfying and the sweet potatoes and beets were lightly fried in coconut oil, which brought out their natural nutty sweetness. So good!!!

So good - Edit
I got their momosa with juice of the day which was kale oj and ginger. It was really good. I got the Reuben with no pickles, no Thousand island dressing replaced with cashew cheese and potato salad. Hubby got the smothered burrito and cornbread with butter. Daughter got Mac and cheese with crumb topping (came with apple slices on the side). Everything was huge portions and great flavor. Definitely worth the price of the meal. The burrito was huge and had to be eaten with a knife and fork but was very easy to do so.
