Ask for the vegan menu! - Edit
Love that there's a separate vegan menu with lots of options, I had a hard time choosing! Went with the Khao soi bowl in the end which was great. It is a bit on the pricey side as it's a slightly more high-end restaurant, but service was impeccable.

Oyster sauce considered vegetarian! - Edit
We asked for the vegetarian and vegan menu, said we‘re vegan and ordered the spring rolls. Were told that not all items on that menu could be veganized, including the spring rolls, which contain oyster oil and thus „vegetarian.“

I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experience at our restaurant! When I read your story, I double checked with our chef about the ingredients for our spring rolls. I can confirm that we do not use oyster sauce, but we do use hoison sauce. I also double checked our hoison sauce and it does not contain oyster sauce (we use Lee Kum Kee brand).

No matter what the problem was, I'm so sorry that you were told the wrong thing and we caused you stress. We understand that you don't want any exposure to animal products and we try to label everything clearly so you have control over what you consume. We failed to communicate the right information to you in a clear way, which is our mistake. Hopefully it's some consolation that you did not actually consume oyster sauce from our spring rolls.
We will work with our servers so they are all aware of this issue so it does not happen again.

The food was delicious, they have a special vegan/vegetarian menu. The spring rolls were amazing, just like the humus with dips and the curry.

We couldn't believe how expensive it was here. You have to ask for the vegan menu, but actually there's not very much on it actually vegan, it's vegan if you "remove" items kind of vibe. We got the tofu/Tempe bowls which actually were quite tasty, but if it wasn't for being too polite (we are British) we would have left after seeing the menu, as the pricing is outrageous... 95,000 for Tempe and rice?? Anywhere else in Indonesia this would be 20-30k...

I understand how our prices might seem high compared to a road-side warung where you can buy tempe and rice for 20-30k. But at those stalls, the food is prepared in the morning and sits out all day in the heat, and the serving size is about half of what we provide. Tofu/tempe from these places is usually not vegan, as shrimp paste and fish sauce are the building blocks of sambal and used in most Indonesian dishes. Often you don't get utensils or napkins to eat with, and when you do, it's disposable plastic that becomes waste as soon as you're done with it. Most of this food is served in styrofoam that is also very toxic to the environment. There is no place to wash your hands, no toilet, no seating, no tables, no music, and no server to bring your food to you. This is why the food is so cheap, but also why many visitors end up with bali belly during their trip.
We take pride in the atmosphere that we provide our customers. It's comfortable and stylish, and you're welcome to stay as long as you like and use the free wifi, drink the free water, enjoy the vibe, and get recommendations for other activities from your server.
We take extra steps to lessen our impact on the environment by providing free, unlimited drinking water that does not come from plastic bottles, using biodegradable take-away packaging, and avoiding plastics wherever we can. This approach is more expensive, but it's important to us.
It sounds like our restaurant was not at all what you were looking for. I know it can be awkward to leave once you've sat down, but if it's not what you want, it's better for you and for the restaurant if you find something that you will like. We don't want anyone to feel forced to eat at our restaurant, and we're not offended when people look at the menu and leave. We've created a product that we think people will like, but it's not for everyone, and that's OK.

Nice restaurant with plenty of Vegan options - Edit
Spent a pleasant afternoon here drinking cocktails and enjoyed a great healthy lunch. Don't forget to ask fir the vegan/vegetarian menu. Vegan alternatives are clearly labelled.

Sophisticated dining - Edit
Visited one evening with friends who have mixed dietary requirements. Nice ambience. Good vegan options, although you may have to order a few items of you're really hungry. Can pay with credit card and serves alcohol. Water is free.

They have just launched a vegetarian & vegan menu (which you have to ask for) and that gives much more choice than others in the town, where choice at each place is fairly rubbish, to be frank.

Almost all items on the menu can be made vegetarian or vegan using tofu/tempeh. The Nasi Goreng was excelllent. Service also very good - very attentive waitresses who kept the free filtered water topped up without us asking.
