Donuts are too thick - Edit
Ordered a number of filled and unfilled donuts. The sourdough is just too thick and chewy. Would not recommend!

Cute - Edit
Lovely little place with charming staff. A few indoor tables and a couple more outside and they don't take reservations so you may need to wait when they're busy.

My favourite cafe in Sydney - Edit
I come here almost every time I’m in Sydney (which is often), my sister and her partner (who are neither vegan nor gf) are also in love with the place.
Read moreBeing vegan and gf this place is obviously made for me, but it’s more than that. I always leave feeling very full, but nourished, the staff are so sweet, and I feel like I’m in Japan. My favourite is the onigiri plate, with all the little bits. But everything I’ve ever tried I’ve loved.
Especially the specialty drinks - iced houjicha latte might be my favourite. And the sweet potato mochi donuts, holy moly.

Pros: Too many to pick just three!, Specialty Japanese food and drinks, Sweet potato mochi donuts
Cons: A bit expensive, Indoor seating is a bit cramped, Not sure if they have a bathroom??

Delicious - Edit
Very friendly staff! My friend and I shared the sushi platter and katsu curry which both were absolutely delicious! The doughnuts and coffee were amazing as well!
Read moreThey are definitely more of a doughnut and coffee place as there are only limited lunch or savoury items. But definitely worth a visit!
I revisited comeco this year (2025) and they have way more lunch items now with the option of a sort of custom onigiri plate. I had the tempura one and it was absolutely delicious and paired well with a latte. I didn't try a doughnut this time as I was far too full.
Still worth a visit!

Fantastic vegan food, however unfortunately due to how popular this place is, of you go later in the afternoon expect them to sell out especially on a weekend.

Pricey lunch, but worth it - Edit
Edit
Read moreCame here on a weekend and it was packed. Had to wait 25 min to get seated and it seemed very disorganized. They were telling a couple to have line up again because they haven’t decided before seating down. Sushi isn’t nearly as good as other places. Onigiri were sold out at 1pm. Came once before where everything was sold out at 1:45pm (open until 3). Mochi was decent (pre-order on some weekends for approx 22$)
Overall experience wasn’t as great as before
Honestly it’s authentic, high quality and you just feel good after eating. It comes with a proper price tag around 26$ for a meal, but they use organic ingredients and the dish I had, had a wholesome taste. I had their onigiri platter with tofu and it comes with Enoki mushrooms in sesame, some king oyster, two onigiri (I was expecting filling though) and a side salad with ginger dressing (?). The taste is great and it’s just like back in Japan. Seems very light - no bloating or upset stomach afterwards. I have to admit I was hungry after a few hours (but maybe because I haven’t had eaten for a while). Place is nice and simple. Service was ok-ish but it’s more self service. You order and pay at the counter and also have to get your own cutlery. They provide water and you can buy some products there. They have donuts too & on the weekends Mochi and sushi.

Best japanese food - Edit
As someone who's japanese, lives in London, and has travelled to many places, I can genuinely say that Comeco makes by far the best vegan japanese food I've ever tasted. The food is very authentic and amazingly flavourful. Both me and my girlfriend were surprised over the intense and rich flavours all the food had. Make sure to try their onigiri! Definitely a must if you ever come to Sydney and want to have japanese food.

Beautiful Vegan Japanese Dishes - Edit
Masa and Team, my husband and I were so impressed and cannot fully put into words how much we enjoyed our lunch at Comeco. You went above and beyond to make my husband’s birthday lunch special, and were also attentive to my allergies. You can tell how much effort and care is put into all of the dishes, and they are beautiful beyond words. You should be so proud of this wonderful cafe, with attentive service, and delicious food. We’re so lucky to have vegan Japanese options like this available to us. I could eat the agedashi plate every day. We loved every dish we tried.

This place was super cute. The onigiri was delicious but they don’t offer sushi in week days and some menu items are only for lunch. It is also pretty expensive for what you are getting.

Tan tan ramen - Edit
The cozy atmosphere makes this place worth a visit.

I've also had their sushi, which was fresh and nicely made. The ingredients were of good quality, and the rolls were well-prepared.

Love the menu, the staff, decor and healthy vibes. I had already eaten when I'd popped in to Comeco Foods but found room to try the Organic Vegan Chicken Karaage. I wasn't disappointed, those cubes of yumminess were divine. Can't wait to go back and try all the food on the menu!

Hontou No Tabemono - Edit
Ordered the Miso BBQ Sushi Rolls, the young girl at the counter wasn't confident in what the ingredients actually were, but we ordered them anyway.
Read moreThe sushi was well presented and tasted real and fresh. The sauce on top was nice, but the filling was just cucumber and shredded carrot only. All of the sushi contains cucumber, which I personally don't like, so that was a bit annoying but that's my problem.
As others have mentioned it could be considered a bit pricey, ($15.9 + 15% (Sunday surcharge) + card surcharge, = $18.75 for 8 small rolls) - but as the Comeco has commented on other reviews, they are using fresh, organic, natural ingredients and make everything from scratch; so if you value that kind of food, then I'd say it's worth it. Personally I just want my food to be delicious (even at the expense of my health!), but I understand and appreciate what they are doing.
I don't think I would get the sushi again, but I will definitely come back to try more of the menu.

Cozy Vegan Café - Edit
I love supporting Yu & Masa’s little business whenever I can. Their team are so warm, friendly and attentive that it gives a warm/fuzzy feeling dining here. Their sourdoughnuts are pretty good. The Japanese katsu curry 🍛 at the time was a tad salty but I’m sure it has improved by now. Their iced hoijcha latte was hands down the best vegan hoijcha latte I’ve ever tried!!!!! Because of Comeco that hoijcha is now my new favourite flavour. I still need to try the newer stuff including their vegan soft serve icecreams.

Simply the Best! - Edit
This place jumped to my top 5 vegan eateries in Sydney right at the first try. It’s a Japanese, small, family-run business with great customer service. Their attention to quality, taste, as well as the presentation is next level. It can get pricey, but considering they predominately use organic ingredients is definitely worth it. Plus, the amount of love they pour into it their creations is also rewarding. It’s a must-try place for anyone vegan visiting Sydney.
